WHAT TO SEE:
Gorliz Lighthouse, accessed from the public car park next to the hospital. A large gate that can only be accessed on foot. There is also an animal shelter that you can visit.
The Bunkers are in two sections. At the foot of the lighthouse is the largest with access to what remains of one of the old canyons. Along a path that climbs the mountain, a small path opens to the left where you can visit the watch bunker, which still preserves the nautical distance measurements for the cannon fire on Laredo and Castro.
The walks through the mountains are several, but the most used is the one that starts at Astondo beach that is accessed by wooden stairs and goes all the way around.
The beach has several accesses and the promenade is pedestrian linking Astondo beach with Plentzia and you can start the walk on one side of the beach and end up having a snack or ice cream in the port of Plentzia.
The beauty of Barrika is the beach and the Golfo Norte bar from whose terrace you can enjoy the views. To do this, once you reach Barrika and at the second roundabout, which is surrounded by bars, you access it from the first exit and you come to a parking lot. The car is left in this parking lot and you can go down to the beach where scenes from the last season of Game of Thrones were filmed. In the upstairs bar that we mentioned before, you can enjoy a snack while you are on the terrace contemplating the views.
Las Arenas is famous for having the oldest iron suspension bridge in the world that connects Las Arenas with Portugalete. It can be crossed by barge, on foot or by car, and you can also go up in an elevator to the top of the bridge and walk across it.
You can also stroll through the old port of Getxo that is accessed through the recreational port and reaching the bottom of the beach where you can see the white houses of the ancient fishermen. It is typical to cover squid, rations or pintxos both in the bars below and in those found in the square if you go up the stairs.
In Getxo there is the Azkorri beach, which accesses a picnic area among trees and access to a walk along the coast. You can walk to some old bunkers in the direction of Larrabasterra or go down to Azlorri beach. There is a free parking.
It is a small town to enjoy a walk through the port, it is close to Gorliz.
It is a coastal town where you can enjoy the beach and walks in the mountains. It is also a town where the best txakoli in the Basque Country is made. Here we find Gaztelugatxe who, although he was already famous, is now more famous for being Dragonstone in Game of Thrones. Access by car is not allowed, the car must be left in Bakio in some parking lots and accessed by bus.
It is the quintessential fishing port. You can enjoy the fishing department stores as well as see the fishing fleet that moors in its port.
Town well known for having the best left wave in the world, surfing championships are held on its beach; It is beautiful both to walk after its cobbled streets and to enjoy its beaches.
The painted forest of Oma and the caves of Santi Mamiñe with prehistoric paintings.
