we liked this place a lot, we are going back
First the owner was flexible about the arrival date and suggested an alternative airport - Bologna which saved us a lot .
This and the welcome made all the difference for us.
Arriving in September was also good - lots of sunshine and a welcome pool. the cottage is rustic but has all the things we needed to make it comfortable and enjoyable. The use of apple television (?) was unexpected and a great bonus to watch familiar programs.
The gardens and surrounds are naturally kept and the walks from the cottage very nice. The views from
our terrace absolutely wonderful
the drive to the shop / restaurant is about 15 minutes and other choices in town - all family restaurants and very good value.
we look forward to returning here .
Enjoyable, relaxing and new friends
A third journey to this valley of Chio in Tuscany.and our first to The Borgo and cottage stella. The cottage clean and the outside areas offering something for all, a quiet spot to reads , to relax by the pool or go on long walks in the surrounding countryside. Half way is a road leading to a pretty church ( unused we think) but with wonderful views
Good internet was also available (free)
Helpful owner too who welcomed us with informations for good tables in the area. He also arranged a day trip to Florence for us ( without queues!), so we are very thankful for that.
(The only small thing was the shortage of glasses I. The first afternoon, but these were provided on Sunday )
The other cottages also had young teenage families and our children soon made good friends here.
Half term paradise
This proved a good decision. 6 nighrs in Tuscany with Mum and the two boys.
This was a return visit to Tuscany, but the first in autumn. It turned out to be an indian summer and so all the more enjoyable. During our week a few locals were collecting olives, but from what we could understand, much of the harvest was abandoned due to the wet summer affecting the quality. Nevertheless we did find some fresh oil and it was delicious.
The cottage was clean and cared for and had pretty much all we needed. It was a nice surprise to have a large fruit platter, bottle of wine and (last year's) olive oil as part of the welcome here. The beds, comfortable. Our only problem was having only one bathroom, but we knew it might be an issue before booking.
Lots if good information about the area, markets etc in the cottage and the owner too was very informative and helpful
It was a last minute holiday and, we really enjoyed our time - especially the town of castiglion- charming.
great family holiday with lots to do
our holiday in Tuscany was a wonderful break for the three of us, it was s special birthday for Mum.. and we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks here. The cottage has lots of oldie features, comfortable beds, useful kitchen and the free laundry a very useful benefit
The large pool has 2 pergolas and thee is s third along the hillside. These plus our private terrace , gave us a sense of privacy - and even with two young families using the other 2 cottages, there was lots of space and pleasure
Visiting the many town - each full of history was great fun. The many local restaurants in Castiglion - all good value and the Gelateria - seemed a pity to pass - so became a popular stopover
Useful advice from the owner about the area, markets etc was useful - especially arranging a visit to florence for us. All in all enjoyable and shoot to suggest this to friends
Great discovery , Fun Family Holiday
This was our second visit here to Borgo, the first was in 2011 and again last June. It is a pretty spot to be and after the drive up the hill the views and the setting are really beautiful.
On our first visit here, we found the idea of a stone pizza oven quite daunting, and used only the individual barbecues. This time, we had more imagination and used the oven twice to bake crusty bread! marvelous!
THe cotttages here are cosy and comfy. The facilities good and the beds very comfortable. The laundry room (shared with the other tow cottages), was also very welcome given the usual weight restrictions for luggage and, a two week stay.
The area offers many places to visit. The local town of castiglion (our favourtite) with many festivals is worth a visit as are the larger towns of Cortona and Arezzo whcih are not far to drive. Another useful service of the town is the train station (florence-rome line).
Although three cottages, we found a good balance of privacy and friendliness. The large pool , pergolas , walkways provided lots of room for us all.
Romantic stay in Tuscan Countryside
Fitting in as much as we could in the Tuscan region was our first thought, but having already spent 3 weeks touring Europe, there was a real need to recharge the batteries and take it a little slower. The little village here proved the perfect spot for that.
Stone built cottages, hundreds of years old, but very enjoyable (and good value for money too ! ). The extras of (excellent) free wifi, free laundry services , welcome basket of fruit, oil and wine, helpful owner - all made this the right choice for us.
The vantage point with its long views of the valley, surrounding countryside and the distant historic hill town seemed to change each day - always enjoyable. For our first 4 nights, we had the entire place to ourselves, so felt really special. A huge pool to ourselves. The second week, we met two lovely families from England and, despite "their invasion" we still enjoyed our time - both by the pool and, around our private terrace. Each cottage has its own terrace and there are 3 or 4 pergolas around so privacy and our 'own space' remained enjoyable. We also had a group pizza night - experimenting with the huge pizza oven and, the results were surprisingly good.
For sightseeing, we relied on the owners help with recommended day trips which including a wine tour and a cooking class run by an English woman in the valley. The best though was to enjoy the festivals in Castiglion and another local town which made our journey here all the more enjoyable.
