About this property

Secluded Oceanfront Cabin With Private Cove and Beach

The Red Point Cabin, sits on a private 19 acre peninsula (shared with a family cottage) and enjoys its own cove and beach. Most of the property is covered by a conservation easement, which is open to our guests for exploring. Moss covered, secluded woodland paths, and a long private beach with tidal pool for swimming make this property a true Maine gem, removed from the hustle and bustle.

From sunrise to sunset, time stands still on the south facing deck. With sweeping views of Penobscot Bay and nearby islands guests will enjoy watching eagles, ospreys, seals and passing boats.

First floor bedroom with queen bed, second bedroom with two twins (bunk beds), and loft bedroom with queen bed. 1 full bath. Full kitchen with small dining area shared with living area and cozy wood stove for evenings and rainy days (firewood provided). Pillows and blankets, sheets, hand towels and kitchen towels provided; tenants responsible for bringing own bath and swim towels.

30 min. to Blue Hill and 90 min. to Acadia National Park. Other local highlights include The Goodlife Center, TinderHearth Bakery, Four Seasons Farm and The Holbrook Island Sanctuary. Local companies will deliver kayaks and stand up paddle boards.

Beautiful, Quiet and Cozy
The cabin's setting is quintessential Maine coast. The views from the deck are framed by weather-worn pine trees, and the trails to the beach are carpeted in lush moss and mushrooms. We had nightly shows from the seals, bald eagles, and loons. It is truly beautiful. Everything in the cabin was clean, in good working order, and the kitchen was well equipped. The host was communicative and helpful. If you are looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful setting, this is the place. There are no frills, but that is part of what makes it fun!

Beauty and Wonder
This is a fantastic place to unplug, unwind and get inspired. Wonderful swimming, miles to explore on land and water while walking trails and paddle boarding, beautiful views from many sit spots in and around the cabin, and excellent internet for when you need to explore the World Wide Web. Beds are comfortable, the kitchen is cook ready, and the wood stove is very easy to use to warm up on rainy or chilly days.

About the host

Host profile image
The Hale Family purchased Red Point in 1929, and built their cottage. For the last 4 generations, Red Point has remained in the family. Their focus of being stewards to the land and allowing it to remain undeveloped and shared with others, has given the property an untouched, time capsule feel. Owners Alec and Erin Brainerd along with their two daughters live in Maine and enjoy sailing wooden boats, skiing in the winter, and reading books. We welcome you, on behalf of our entire family, to Red Point.
