Our cottage is very well equipped in the midst of all the attractions of the Golden Circle and only 55 min. drive from Reykjavik. The cottage is on a private ground with total privacy. Floor heating. 2 nice bedroom. Spacious well equipped kitchen with dish washer. The living room has a 55" Smart TV, Playstation, Free WiFi and Shield (TV streaming, movies and series). On the terrace is a lovely jacuzzi hot tub with massage, great place to enjoy the northern lights!

The location is just great. Kerid, the famous volcanic crater is 5 min. drive. Reykjavik is 55 min. drive. Gullfoss and Geysir are in approx. 30 min. drive from our cottage, Laugarvatn with great spa and sauna (Fontana) is 15 min. drive. The national park, Thingvellir is 30 min. drive. The town of Selfoss is 15 min. drive, where you can find great supermarkets and restaurants. Seljalandsfoss is 50 min. drives and Reynisfjara Vik Myrdal is approx. 1 hr and 45 min. drive. Jokulsarlon is 4 hrs. drive.

Beautiful tranquil stay away from the city in Iceland

Our family of three, husband, wife and adult daughter had been looking forward to our holiday in Iceland for many months, we wanted to visit the popular natural tourist attractions in the south-west of the country and made the decision, albeit with some anxiety, to stay well away from the city of Reykjavik and to opt for somewhere more remote. The owner of volcano cottage provided us with some good tips in advance of our trip and gave excellent comprensive directions to the fairly remote location - this helped us greatly as setting off in hire car into the great unknown - in a county like Iceland with its variable roads and wild landscapes can be quite daunting.The cottage itself was fabulous, extremely well provided, comfortable and in excellent condition. We quickly felt at home. The destinations which we visited; Westman Islands; Geyser; Gulfoss; Seljandfoss; Hveragerdi and it’s hot spring trail, Pingvellir and also Reykjavík were all comfortable driving distance from the cottage and did not disappoint. Despite this list of attractions we still had plenty of time of chilling out. If you are looking for a very comfortable opportunity to stay in a fairly remote location with magnificent views of open Icelandic countryside but still be within easy driving distance of world class natural attractions, Volcano cottage is a very good choice.

Beautiful cottage in a remote location, ideally located for the golden circle attractions

Would highly recommend for anyone to stay here. The cottage is perfect, with everything you could possibly need. The town of Selfoss is 20 minutes away for groceries and wine. A national park, geyser, Gulfoss falls, lava tubes and geothermal Park are all within a very straight forward 1 hours drive. And if you are up for driving a little further, there are some more amazing things to see down the south coast towards Vik. It was lovely to relax in the evenings at the cottage with a home cooked meal and glass of wine. There’s a hot tub so you can take in the stars and we even got a glimpse of the northern lights. Thor was kind enough to make us aware of a meteor shower on the night of our arrival, but unfortunately it was a little too cloudy. There are a couple of other cottages dotted around the area, but you have complete privacy here and it’s completely silent. Absolute bliss! Hope to return soon.

Absolutely amazing experience, lovely country and lovely people!

The cottage is breathtaking, I didn't meet Thor or his wife in person but wow what wonderful and helpful people, their home is amazing and will recommend this cottage to all friends and family, no matter what time of day Thor would respond and help! So clean and lovely it's unbelievable!! All appliances available and need for nothing in this well equipped cottage! Thank you so much for our stay and will definitely be back to lava cottage in the future! This made our honeymoon spectacular! Dean and Emma

Perfect place to explore the golden circle (and many more hidden places)

Perfect, unforgettable, fantastic

We have stayed 4 nights at the cottage in March. It was just an AMAZING place. Right in the middle of a quiet nature, the house is roomy, very well equipped and very delighted. The big bonus being the hot tub which let us have a rest in perfect conditions admiring nothern lights after an hike day :) Moreover it's a wonderful place to discover the golden circle (and moreover) in a few days journey. Around 30min-1h to main places to see (Thingvellir, Geysir, Gulfoss, south waterfalls as Seljalandfoss or Skogafoss and more other). In short, if you are looking forward a charming house in a quiet nature, making a gift of a beautiful view each part of the day and being a starting point of you visiting day. Do not hesitate, blindy push on.
