A luxurious one-bedroom apartment in the heart of the village of Andermatt

Södertorpet is a one-bedroom apartment with the kind of amenities typically found only in upscale boutique hotels. But as opposed to a hotel, it also offers total privacy and all the comforts of a well-appointed home. The apartment is located on the picturesque street of Kirchgasse, in the very heart of the village of Andermatt (pop. ca 1600), within a few minutes' walk to ski lifts, restaurants, post office, train station, hospital and an excellent supermarket, the CoOp. Most streets are cobblestone and many of the village houses, especially those adjacent to the apartment, date back 400 years or more. A river runs just below the apartment balcony. In the summer, the view also includes slopes covered with alpine flowers.

The apartment is furnished with local antiques and has a fireplace, polished hardwood floors and a state-of-the-art kitchen. The bedroom features a queen-size Select Comfort Sleep Number Bed and the bathroom has a Turkish steam bath and a separate laundry area.

Apartment features: The apartment is new and very well equipped. It was finished in 2010 and features exclusive high-quality products, including polished hardwood floors throughout, a steam bath with chromotherapy feature, a fireplace, satellite TV, high-speed Internet, an induction stove and a dishwasher. The washer and dryer is located inside the apartment.

Guests have the use of the apartment's ski locker.

Once weekly housekeeping is included in the rental rate.

Location: The apartment is located in the heart of the village. There are 26 restaurants within 5 minutes' walk. Two ski lifts within 4 minutes' walk. Supermarket and beauty salon, 2 minutes.

Train service to Andermatt is excellent. From Zurich airport, it's only two hours and eleven minutes to Andermatt. There is a train station in the airport itself, at the lower level.

Who has ever heard of Andermatt? The answer: just enough people, but not enough to spoil this delightful and traditional village in the very heart of the Swiss alps. Unlike Zermatt, Davos, or St Moritz, it's not on the destination lists of the rich and famous. (At least, not yet). Andermatt , to a large extent, still retains its character as a mountain settlement, with centuries-old wooden houses, intricate stonework, cobblestoned streets, narrow alleys, and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains at every step. Although its population hovers at only around 1600 people, there are no less than 31 restaurants. Now, that should tell you something!

And despite its well-deserved reputation as a winter sports and ski destination, Andermatt is also an outstanding place to visit during the summer months. Alpine flowers, gurgling brooks, spectacular hiking trails, abundant camping sites, antique car rallies; cheese fondue served by candlelight in cosy, wood-beamed restaurants.

Golf: There is a spectacular Alpine-setting course (about nine holes, we believe, although that may have changed) just adjacent to the village of Realp, on the scenic road leading to the Furka pass.

Please note: Upon completion of the luxury Cheddi Andermatt Resort (scheduled to open in December, 2013) an 18-hole course will be available.

Ski: With two lifts (and more to come), along with guaranteed snowfall, Andermatt is one of the prime ski and winter sports locations in the Swiss Alps. Surprisingly, unlike larger centres like St Moritz or Zermatt, Andermatt has retained its character as a small, relatively un commercialized alpine village. Its transportation infrastructure is excellent; Zurich airport is only two hours and eleven minutes away by train. Best of all, the apartment is situated in the very centre of the village, only a few minutes' walk to the lifts. Just take our elevator to the basement (where you'll have your own sports equipment locker), grab your skis, and go! Then, after a great day on the slopes, indulge yourself in our Turkish steam shower, uncork that special bottle of Château Musar, and settle back in front of the fireplace.

The apartment sleeps two persons. The minimum length of stay is one week. The rates are in US-dollars per week. Additional days pro-rated.

Payment may be made by Visa or MasterCard, Cashier's Check or Bank Transfer.

We offer special corporate rates. Should such a requirement arise, please contact Sodertorpet's manager, Ms Ange Furrer-Larsen.

Housekeeping is once per week. If added services are required, there's a nominal charge.

Wireless internet is available in the apartment.
Deposits are required for a guaranteed reservation: 50% with booking, the balance 30 days prior to arrival.

A refundable security deposit of CHF 500 will be collected on arrival.
For all cancellations made to us in writing, with a minimum of 14 days notice from scheduled arrival date, 90% of the deposit will be returned.

Within 14 - 7 days notice, 50% will be returned.

Within 7 days of scheduled arrival, no refunds will be offered.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
