We had a wonderful few days in Dubrovnik and could not imagine a better place to stay. We were delighted to find Miho's apartment perched in the top storey, giving amazing views over Dubrovnik and the Adriatic Sea. Miho was attentive to all detail. He picked us up from the airport, described local history and at the end of the stay helped us transfer to the bus terminal. Overall a memorable experience.
Apartment Lobrovic is a fabulous place to stay in old town Dubrovnik. The porter service to get our luggage to the apartment was a real luxury, especially when we saw so many other weary travellers struggling with their bags. It gave us an an early opportunity to take in the sights and sounds of the city and really made a huge difference.
The apartment is exactly as described and the views are absolutely stunning. The air-conditioning was much appreciated as it was very hot during our stay.
We all loved watching people walk along the wall and listening to the daytime sounds of the city. We made very good use of the vine-covered balcony at breakfast and the children were thrilled to try the grapes. The wi-fi and satellite TV was much appreciated by our teenage son when he returned to the apartment in the evening.
Miho was an amazing host - respectful and informative. He helped us to really get to the heart of Croatian culture and to make the most of all that the city had to offer with his recommendations of places to see and restaurants to visit.
We have already recommended this apartment to several of our friends and family and would love to go back ourselves some day. Thank you Miho.
From start to finish this was a fab place to stay - waking up each morning and having THAT view to look at was a great start to the day. Our favourite bit was the little balcony - even on a cooler evening you can light the candles and the little stove, wrap yourself in a blanket and natter over a glass or two (and eating the grapes off the vine was a treat!) We would have liked to see out a bit more, even at the risk of being overlooked by the 'watchers on the wall', but it was fine; the vines created a cosy little den.
Our welcome couldn't have been warmer - from Miho's friendly nephew at the airport to the porter and Miho at the Pile Gate we felt like we were special guests.
To note - it can appear expensive in Dubrovnik, but the key is not to eat on the Main Street where some of the restaurants have got some very pushy and annoying employees trying to get you to eat in their place - they were literally in our faces at one time.
We found the Mea Culpa restaurant to be excellent and very good value, and the vegetarian Nishta. If you're planning to do the walls and then a couple of museums or attractions within the old city then a Dubrovnik Card is worth the cost for a day - it runs for 24hrs from the first point of use so you don't have to start early in the day to get the most out of it, you can use it over 2 days and save your feet.
Lots of walking up and down steps - don't underestimate how many steps back to the apartment, but it's worth it to go up and through the tiny little streets and alleyways.
Buza Bar is everything that it's promoted to be, but is very expensive - 4 small drinks cost us £24.00!
Cable car is excellent - a definite must do, as is the fort.
Overall, this was an amazing apartment - tucked up in the roof of an old building with fascinating history - and equipped with everything you could want to make it a home from home. Definitely recommend it and will be back again! Thanks, Miho.
The apartment was nicely laid out, with plenty of space for a family of four (although there was only two of us). The kitchen was a little cramped for doing any actual cooking and, along with the bathroom, was a little tired, but the amenities were as promised and everything was spotless and worked as it should do. Beds were very comfortable and the little outside terrace was excellent for breakfast, although the vines that had been allowed to grow for privacy (people walking past on the wall 20 metres away could see the balcony) denied us the fantastic view out to sea. The views from every other window were spectacular.
Miho and Selma were excellent, providing good recommendations and easy communication. Miho helped us with our bags on the way in and out, which was important as the apartment is at the very edge of the old town and (according to my FitBit), 16 flights of stairs up... this is probably the one thing we would have liked to have known before hand as we would have packed out bags differently. It was also a little brutal at the end of a long day, but was easier on the last day than the first! It's also noting that parking isn't that simple. Miho pointed us out to a residential area and easy bus ride from the Pile gate, however while getting there was easy and finding a spot wasn't a problem, it's worth noting of the three options to pay for street parking (meter, via mobile phone and via a Tisak newspaper stand), only the news paper stand offers the ability to pay for more than a few hours.
All in all, a great 4 days in here - we highly recommend the bizarrely named Taj Mahal Bosnian restaurant as well as the restaurants by the Natural history museum (come out of the courtyard by the apartment and turn right down the shallower steps) - there is also the bar outside the wall overlooking the sea which is simply stunning at sunset.
Our host had us met at the airport and escorted to the apartment, which was stocked with orange juice, water, cookies, beer and a phone to contact him. At the end of the stay, he had us taken to the ferry boat for our trip to Korcula. The apartment had incredible views and was well worth the number of steps it took to arrive there. Milo gave us spot-on recommendations. The apartment had views of the harbor, the city and was practically on the city walls. Internet, coffeemaker, washing machine were some of the amenities. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Five days was not enough!
We had an amazing week in Dubrovnik, staying at the Apartment Lobrovic. Miho and Selma were excellent hosts, and we highly recommend their airport transfer service - it was a comlplete joy to be be taken to the gate to the city, and then Moho escorted us to the apartment whilst our luggae was portered there. It really helps to make arrival and orientation totally painless, and Miho shared his recommendations on where to go and what to eat.
The apartment is exactly as described, spotless, and has comfy beds with crisp white bed linen. The terrace is a wonderful location to enjoy breakfast or an evening drink and you really are looking at the City Walls (and the passing toursist!) and beyong them to the beautiful sea. In fact as the apartment is one of the highest pots inthe city, views from al the windows are breathtaking (the photos don't do this justice). I never tired of wathcing the sun come up and light the city and the harbour, or at dusk watching the shoreline light up. There is everything you need in the compact kitchen, the living space is relaxing and the bedrooms are a good size with plenty of storage. It can feel quite a hike to get back up there at the end of a busy day, but you are walking through one of the most fantastic cities on earth which can take your mind off the climb; and the famous Buza Bar is mere metres away and a good place to stop for a cold drink (and world class view) on the way home. We loved the place, and would definitely recommend it and stay there again ourselves.
Dubrovnik itself was superb. Selma recommended getting the cable car up Mt Syrd (unbelievable views) then walking to nearby village to eat at Konoba Dubrava; this is definitey a great thing to do - the food was wonderful and the staff there were so friendly (standout, even in a city as friendly as Dubrovnik). other top hits for us were the island of Lokrum (very peaceful and only 15 mins on the ferry); walking the City Walls (amazing views and history in every step); breakfast at Cafe Orlando; dinner at Taj Mahal (which serves Bosnian rather than Indian food).
We have fallen for the charms of Dubrovnik; there was plenty to entertain 2 adults and an 11 year old girl and we will be back! Thank you Selma and Miho for making us feel so at home and for helping us get as much as possible out of our stay.
Fantastic apartment with everything we could possibly need and more, including stunning views in all directions and biscuits, beer and water waiting for us in the fridge!
Miho not only carried our bags to the apartment and back but gave us a short tour of the city without which I strongly doubt that we would ever have guessed the location of the local baker, not to mention the restaurant and trip recommendations that were all spot-on.
The apartment was clean, air-conditioned, and in a lovely quiet area near the wall with a local bar through a hole in the wall via which you could also access the sea for a swim.
As good a way to spend a week as I can think of!
