Old world character and charm with modern convenience
We had a wonderful week at Vinigo. The apartment has old world character and charm with modern convenience - good bathroom, second toilet, good washing machine and a well equipped kitchen. It is very clean and provides everything needed for a summer holiday in the mountains. We are an older couple and were joined by our adult son and his girlfriend for a few of the days. The village is quiet and friendly, the tolling church bell did not worry us. Access to great fresh vegetables at the organic farm, a short stroll through the town was fantastic. Alice was very helpful and responsive to our queries. We highly recommend Vinigo as a quiet retreat from the summer crowds while providing access to all the sights and Cortina.
Lovely upstairs rooms enjoying views in the charming village of Vinigo
The house consists of the upper floor of the house. It is neat and cosy with all that you need to make your stay comfortable. The view from the balcony is impressive as are the mountains themselves. There is no shop in the village but there are small and larger stores just up the road which provide everything you might need. Be early for fresh rolls which arrive about 8.30. There is a small stand-up cafe next to the first shop which sells lovely warm croissants (with or without marmalade) and makes a decent cappuccino.
There is a good restaurant, Alpino, in Vito which has a nice atmosphere, extensive menu including takeaway pizza and is not overly expensive. Book a table if you know you are going to eat there.
In Vinigo, parking is 30m up the road by the church or in the lower car
park. The church does ring hourly and has a short burst at 7.00am which is quite sonorous and not intrusive. We missed it when we left.
There is a Tourist Info in Borca which has free WiFi.
San Vito is very pleasant and you can sit in the shade with an excellent ice cream often to the accompaniment of low key local musicians.
If you like walking and want to do the Tre Cime walk (recommended),
pay the toll to the car park but get there early to ensure a space.
On the Kaiserjäger Route to Piccolo Lazagoui do not be put off by the short cabled section after the suspension bridge, it is not a difficult section.
If you like a thrill, take the cable car to Ra Valles and walk down the piste and some steepish zigzags back to the Col Druscié cable car.
Similarly for Cinque Torri, cable car up then walk down via the WW1 reconstructions.
Superb, charming, unusual vacation home
Our family of four stayed in this place in June 2015 and we absolutely loved it! It is a top floor of a very old historic chalet that has been very well preserved by the owners. It features nice wooden beams over the kitchen table, lots of antique furniture, a very nice balcony, and the place overall is absolutely charming. The kitchen is very well equipped, and you have all the amenities - hot water, washing machine, etc. There is a funky loft upstairs, and our children loved climbing there for a sleep. There are 5-6 sleeping places there, with one small bedroom that has complete privacy in it (queen size bed), but other sleeping places have less privacy (not behind doors but open into the main living room). The drive to Cortina takes 20 minutes and is breathtaking in its beauty. We loved staying in this house and would highly recommend it to other families.
We had this roof flat for our Christmas and NY holiday. Nice place - none standard done with love with quality equipment installed. Fully fitted kitchen - very important for proper cooking. In general done by owners for owners and now being rented out. If you are looking for cozy and quite place bit out of central Cortina it's a good choise. Owners have clear rules to be kept - but all make sense and easy to keep.
Appartement calme conforme à l'annonce. Très agréable et bien situé
Cozy apartment with everything you need
The apartment is indeed lovely and very cosy. We (2 persons) stayed there for one week and had everything one might need. Well equipped kitchen (including a Nespresso machine), three sleeping areas (one of which is a separate bedroom with a door) and the most beautiful weather you can imagine for a lot of hiking trips.
We were very happy to have stayed here, but for internet and TV lovers: Be aware that there is no Wi-Fi (which was okay for us; we brought our own!) and only a very small TV with Italian stations (we didn't need a TV, so that wasn't important for us).
I am really sorry but I have to deduct one star, but that doesn't have anything to do with the apartment. I, as a very light sleeper, really had difficulties sleeping through the night, because of the small church nearby, which is by the way very old and beautiful. Unfortunately, it was ringing its bell every hour (e.g. 12 times at midnight) plus once at every half hour. My boyfriend didn't bother - he could sleep tight anyway. But I couldn't even with ear plugs, which was really a pity, because otherwise the area is very calm.
So, if you are a good sleeper, book this apartment! You will love it!
The attic stands on top of one of most fascinating house of the ancient town of Vinigo ( 1000 mt above sea level).from the terrace you can appreciate the Pelmo view and other dolomites and the ancient church of 1500a.D.
Vinigo is considered the ' terrace on the dolomites' for its high position on the surrounding town and the peaceful atmosphere out of traffic and pollution.
There's a local shop that offers whatever is necessary, you can reach the bicycle track that connects cortina from Calalzo in 5 minutes, with the car you can reach in few the nearest ski area in San Vito or Cortina d'Ampezzo in 20 minutes.
Other Activities: Golf , trekking, nordic walking, bird watching,
