The house is suited for real “amateurs” only which are looking for a unique holiday within a totally private and natural surrounding. The property is 150 meters above sea level, extends over 500 squared meters of terraced land and is comprised of a 2-bedroom house and a 1-bedroom cottage. The main house is arranged over 2 floors. Kitchen and dining area are on the ground floor while two bedrooms and a bathroom are located on the first floor. The first double-bedroom extends onto its own private terrace with breathtaking sea views. The second double-bedroom is extremely spacious (an additional inflatable single bed can be fitted) and includes a large chimney and lounge area. The cottage has his own small bathroom, kitchen and a full double bed. The property enjoys great outside living space including a large terrace, wooden floor solarium, BBQ and an external shower. Crystal-clear waters are only 15 min away at the bottom of a magnificent stone path perched on the ridge of the hill.
Driving directions: The village of Monesteroli is reachable by a 20 min walk after leaving your car at the bottom of Via Tramonti, a private road which takes you from Località Colle del Telegrafo into a beautiful bush slowly down towards the sea. From La Spezia you take the coastal road that leads to the Cinque Terre and just before the first tunnel take a right at the junction towards Biassa. Go through this picturesque village and keep going up the road for approx. 5 km till you reach the top of the hill. Take the first road on the left (Via Tramonti) just before the restaurant Colle del Telegrafo and keep going down till the road ends where you will park on the road side. The track way which leads to Monesteroli starts on the right-hand side of the last sharp bend of the road (track way n. 4b). GPS: 44° 04' 45" N 09° 47' 07" E
My wife and I live in Milan and have two young daughters. We both work in banking and this place is our refuge from it all! At the beginning there was no mobile reception, no running water and no electricity! It took us nearly 10 yrs to make it livable and we enjoy letting our guests share this unique experience.
Luca Agostini purchased this cottage in 1996
We bought this cottage 20 yrs ago when we were young and crazy and fell in love with this place which is incredibly unique. We did not realize at the time what it meant to rebuild the cottage which was then simply a bouch of stones! Every piece of furniture you see has been brought down the steep steps on our back!
Away from it all, even in mid august!
It was wonderful , amazing, quiet , crazy and challenging all the days as we expected.
It's the return to the true life and back to basics.( e.a. the shower outside , just infront of sea)
We were very happy and we had successful holidays.
if you like sport , challenges , nature and quiet and breathtaking views, Monesteroli is the best choice for your holidays in "Cinque Terre".
The restaurant "colle di Telegrafo" was a also a ideal stop-off before getting back home at night. The Pasta were delicious...unavoidable after tour in Cinque Terre.
Thanks a lot , Luca for this "petit coin de paradis" .
We spent 4 weeks here and enjoyed every day: the scenery was amazing and there was always something new in the horizon, the kitchen had what we needed, the bed was comfortable and best of all the location is so peaceful with just the sound of birds and waves crashing. We also enjoyed several wonderful swims down in Monesteroli (sticks were good to use as the lower track to the beach was a bit unstable after a slip). After a month of living here and exploring from here the Cinque Terre tracks and walks to Portovenere we certainly felt healthier in mind and body.
So close to the famous Cinque Terre and at the same time even in July totally 'away from it all'. We loved this house. Beautiful location, amazing vista's (it's even better than the pictures, every night we were treated to the most gorgeous sunsets) and ... a bit adventurous. Loved to hike the old stone roads to the house, even when it was hot. The place is very quiet (the house is set high above the sea and above the little village of Monesteroli) and totally private. So you get unbelievable vista's, wildlife (wild boar and martens!) and a free workout. We left our car at the designated parking spot for the whole week and did everything by foot. There is much to explore and hike. For groceries we went to Biassa or Campiglia (the little store in Campiglia is sometimes closed when you don't expect it, but there's great pasta at PiccoloBlu which we also recommend, lovely hike down to the sea from Campiglia, but the way back is pretty heavy when it's hot). We even hiked with our children to Rio Maggiore, took a swim there and had a nice lunch at 'Enoteca dau cila', great location for watching people. Closer by, the food at 'Colle di Telegrafo' was really, really wonderful! We hope to come back to your lovely and very special house Luca! It was a wonderful experience. It really is... an experience!
We spent a marvelous time at Minesterolli ; first I was worried that our teenage kids would have been bored.. . .But not at all ! They told me how astonishing and beautiful was the place. They really enjoyed to be there. It is the way I like to spend my holidays: family, silence, sea, swim, visit, no clock, sun, view and sunset… I forgot sport ;). Everything was as described on the site , clean and comfortable . Luca is a very nice and accomodating owner. Maintain this unique place is an incredible challenge !
Wonderful place! The location and the view is absolutely unique - in the middle of nature! The house is well equipped for a comfortable stay. We hiked a lot, swam in the sea or just sat at the terasse with its breathtaking views of Cinque Terre. We visited La Spezia, Portovenere and Pisa. The owner was very helpful and stayed in contact with during our stay, aswered all our questions and provided all information. If you are interested in relaxation, hiking, scenery it is the the perfect choice for you! A little bit of paradise in Monesteroli!
A very nice, clean and with good taste restored stone house.
Full equipped; there is nothing missing, that could be needed. The terrace was really appreciated; large, quiet and with this superb view on the sea. It is there we spent the most time.
If you are not afraid of walking down, then up again, about 1000 steps, it is really worth going to the seaside to take a bath. We really enjoyed it, because this steep track to the seaside is a unique experience.
It belongs to this stay, that i would call a stay in the wild.
As it takes about 20 minutes walking to reach the car, it doesn't make sense, having a lot of activities needing to take the car (like shopping, night clubs, restaurants, a.s.o). But the very most interesting sites to be seen around, especially the Cinque Terre, are reachable by foot, via absolute unforgettable tracks with permanent view on the seaside.
It is the right and dreamed place to have a quiet and restful stay, if you like a natural life in the wild, sea bathing, sunset from the terrace and unforgettable walks.
The house can only be reached by a 20 minutes walk along a beautiful track way across terraced vineyards which terminates in a steep path of stone steps leading to the sea. It is located 150 meters above the sea on the edge of a terraced cliff between Riomaggiore and Portovenere, close to a group of houses known as Monesteroli village, in the most unspoiled part of the Cinque Terre National Park.
Monesteroli was built through the centuries by the inhabitants of Biassa, an ancient village on the Northwestern hills surrounding the gulf of La Spezia. Biassa is the main doorway to the Cinque Terre and to the several pathways crossing the hillside some of which are accessible directly from the property. Together with the small villages of Schiara and Fossola, Monesteroli is part of Tramonti ('Sunsets'), the coastal area left of Riomaggiore.
Biassa is 5 km away from the house and is reachable by a 20 min walk plus 10 min by car. It can be reached from either La Spezia or Riomaggiore (both 10 km away) by car or bus.
The village of Campiglia can also be reached by a 30 minutes walk from the house and enjoys various restaurants.
