An immaculate and comfortable three bedroom villa with private pool and garden, situated in the fragrant rolling hills, above the picturesque town of Tavira. A perfect location for a family holiday in a natural and tranquil environment.

The villa is surrounded by terracotta patios perfect for sitting or lounging, wherever the sun shines! There is a large brick-built barbeque near the pool terrace. The house has 360 degree views across the maquis countryside, dotted with fig, almond and cistus bushes. You will find orange, pomegranate, peach, pear and cherry trees within the 4500m2 of garden.

The villa is light and airy, every room and bedroom has a sliding glass patio door. From the front door you enter into a large hallway with coat storage and a small shower room with w/c. Double doors open into a pretty rectangular lounge, with sofa seating for 8. The lounge has three sliding glass patio doors, a gas burning fireplace and TV with free to view English satellite channels. The open-plan kitchen and dining room has seating for 8 also lead out onto a terrace. The kitchen is fitted to a high standard and has all modern appliances, there is a separate utility room adjacent to the kitchen, that also has a tumble dryer.

On the first floor there are two large double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, all with fitted wardrobes, the largest bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom with shower. There is another bathroom with a shower/bath and all the bedrooms have patio doors that lead out onto very large roof terraces, perfect for enjoying the far-reaching views over countryside and nearby reservoir.

Casa Bougainvillea has a wireless internet service of 30 GB per month.

Eight sun loungers deck the terrace around the pool and there are sun umbrellas, a table and chairs available.

The swimming pool measures 10 m x 5 m with steps leading into a shallow end of 1 m and a deep end of 2.5 m, it is a freshwater pool with salt cleaning system. The pool is serviced twice weekly during summer and once weekly during the rest of the year by a competent and reliable professional. Pool and garden lighting is available.

The villa is perfect for family holidays and children of all ages.

There is a cot and high chair provided. Please let us know if you have any other requirements.

Casa Bougainvillea is quite suitable for the elderly or infirm and is not overlooked as the nearest houses are approximately 500 metres away.

The property is accessed via a 50m unmade lane, directly off a tarmac road. The house has private off road parking.

The area around the house is very quiet and rural, the nearby village of Casa Queimada comprises houses and farms, a very relaxing environment.

There is a café/bar in nearby Corte Martins 2km away, Faz Fato at 4km has a small restaurant. Larger supermarkets can be found in Cabanas 9km away and Tavira 12km.

The beautiful blue flag beaches of Manta Rota and Cabanas Island are 8 and 10 km distance from the accommodation.

There are excellent golf courses within 8 to 10 minutes drive from the accommodation. The closest are Benamor, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima, Monte Rei.

Ashtrays are provided for smoking outside the property.

Due to the possibility of guests being allergic to animal hair, we would rather not allow pets.

Our changeover days are flexible, though we aim to keep bookings as close as possible. Departure is by 10am and arrival is from 2pm unless otherwise arranged.

Linen is provided, there is also a once weekly linen and bathroom towel change including a clean of the bathrooms.

There will be some toilet paper and soap for arrivals and a hamper of beverages, with additional breakfast and snacks are provided for late arrivals.

A car is essential, especially in the heat of summer…and for reaching all the beautiful and interesting places further afield. Car rental, taxi transfers and bicycle hire can be organized with local reputable firms in advance or by calling the local representative.

Guests will be met at the villa, or otherwise informed where to locate the key and visited soon after arrival. We ensure a prompt and competent service from a team of property managers, who can be contacted at anytime.

I stayed at Casa bougainvillea with a group of very worn out friends in need of a break and it was absolutely beautiful. The villa is huge and very well kept and the outdoor facilities are amazing. The villa is so peaceful and the surroundings are very pleasing on the eye.

Highly recommend this place and will be returning this year.

Tavira, referred to in guide books as the ‘Venice of the Algarve’ is one of the most authentic towns in the Algarve and definitely worth visiting.

Historically, Tavira was an important harbour town and there are still remnants from Moorish, Phoenician and Roman occupations. There is a lively fishing trade along the river front, though far less than when Tavira was known for its huge tuna fishing fleets, the anchors of which can all be seen lodged in the sand at Barril beach.

The beautiful centre of Tavira is situated on the banks of the river Gilão. The town has a seven arched Roman bridge that spans the river and is the focal point of the town. Tavira was virtually rebuilt in the eighteenth century after the famous earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the buildings. The impressive church of Sta. Maria do Castelo has a gothic portal and stands on the site of the former 13th century mosque and most of the 37 churches have beautiful tile work within. There are many examples of Renaissance and Manueline architecture including the arched doorway of the Misericordia church. The 13th century castle walls border the medieval centre of town, encompassing tranquil gardens and a Camera Obscura. From there your eyes can scan over the rich tapestry of peaked rooftops to the estuary leading through the mosaic of salt pans and far out into the Atlantic.

There are many highly recommended fish restaurants, which serve locally caught shellfish and fresh fish dishes, enjoyed with a glass of ‘vinho verde’, the ´green` sparkling wine which is typically Portuguese. Numerous cafes and restaurants line the river, public gardens and quiet squares, offering an array of traditional patisseries and fresh fish dishes.
