Shell Cottage is the perfect holiday retreat, packed with Victorian charm and modern additions to sleep up to six in comfort. Situated directly opposite Flushing quayside, and set around a pretty walled green, it is one of just five similar houses painted in contrasting pastel shades in the unspoilt fishing village of Flushing. The cottage has partial views of the water from the master bedroom and elevated garden, and benefits from a reserved parking space on the quayside just a few steps away.
The lounge features an original Victorian open fire and comfortable seating on two large sofas. A flat screen TV and DVD player are provided, although there is so much to see and do it is unlikely you will want to spend much time watching it. This room is the perfect place to relax after a long day exploring the many delights of Cornwall.
The modern kitchen has under-floor heating and is fully equipped for self-catering with a Belfast sink set in generous wooden worktops, a large fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven and washing machine.
There is access from the kitchen to the private garden, which has fantastic views of the estuary – the perfect place to enjoy an al-fresco lunch while watching the sailing boats race around the bay, or to relax with a glass of wine as you watch the sun go down and the evening light change in the harbour.
Upstairs and to the front of the property the pretty master bedroom has views over the quayside to the estuary. There is a twin bedroom at the rear, with access to the third bedroom. This is ideally suited to children, with full-sized bunk beds and additional access to the garden.
The bathroom has just been replaced to provide a modern spa environment, with clean white fixtures and fittings.
Well behaved dogs are welcome at Shell Cottage. Logs and coal for the open fire are provided, and guests have complimentary use of the WiFi Internet access.
Really lovely cottage, had a great time here, very much a home from home - hoping to come back in the summer! Thank you for making the cottage so lovely! Such friendly locals and great walks. A haven of tranquility!
Flushing is one known to be one of the warmest villages in the UK because it has an idyllic sheltered south-facing aspect. It has quiet streets lined with traditional terraced fisherman’s cottages, and beautiful unspoilt surrounding countryside.
Many Cornish villages have become over crowded with tourists, but Flushing is much quieter, even during peak season, and it still benefits from a strong and vibrant community.
Flushing has two pubs a stunning seafood restaurant located on the quayside, plus a friendly well-stocked general store. It also has a Sailing Club that welcomes guests, and it’s own beach.
A passenger ferry runs a regular service between Flushing and Falmouth. It also connects with the ferries to St Mawes, Mylor, Trelissick and Truro. In summer the Fal River boats offer trips to the gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan, and onwards to Truro. A local water taxi service also runs around the bay.
