Not fit for living in present condition
The apartment is in on a charming street, and looked essentially as depicted in the photos. The immediate concern was that "air conditioned" really means that there is a unit in the living room, which keeps that room alone moderately cool. The two bedrooms were so hot that it was impossible to sleep there. The property representative did provide a fan when asked; but we still all slept in the main room.
Soon after we arrived, we started noticing that we had small red bit marks on our legs and arms. The white sheets, clean when we arrived, were covered with small black dots. A little research revealed that these can be signs of bedbugs. We hoped for the best until we saw what was unmistakeably a bed bug (we used this guide to confirm: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/bed-bugs/Pages/Introduction.aspx#identification). We immediately moved out of the apartment and into a hotel for the last two nights of our stay. The owner did not provide any appropriate response to this situation. The owner's representative claimed that he didn't see any bedbugs upon inspecting the apartment. That is not surprising, given that bedbugs are hard to spot, especially during the day. However, bits, black spots, and sighting of a bedbug were convincing evidence to us.
Good base. Nice Terrce. Good location
This Apartment is an ideal location for restaurants. Easy walk to the coliseum. We easily used public transportation to the main train station. Couldnt ask for more.
GREAT area, very clean but a little noisy
Perfect place to stay if you want to live amongst the locals. Our host kindly arranged pickup from airport at midnight! And were easily able to get inside upon arrival. HIGHLY recommend Trastevere area. Close to so many restaurants and shops. But very noisy from nearby restaurant (which is honestly remedied with white noise on your cell phone - or bring white noise machine ;). Pros and cons as it was nice to have restaurants close and a small store just downstairs. AC is in living room only so we stayed on fold down couch to stay cool in summer heat. Was an issue as my daughter has low blood pressure and the heat is hard on her and we were depending on good AC to cool her off during the day when she needed to rest or had a bad day. No washing machine as noted and hairdryer started smoking so stopped using. A replacement was going to be dropped off but never came. Not a huge deal but we confirmed there was one. If we knew it was sketchy I would have packed my own. As a parent the upside to no washing machine was our young kids learned to wash their clothes by hand which was welcomed by us! Was good for them. ;) We enjoyed dinner in a couple times on the terrace which was really cute and perfect for drying clothes outside. Pictures of place online don't quite match current appearance. Seems they were taken back when place was newly decorated. But it was very clean, plenty of towels. Most definitely a secure and safe place.
Comfortable but LOUD
I love Trastevere. I lived there for the past four years and was back visiting for my graduation ceremony. In all of my four years in Trastevere I never lived on a street as loud as this one. If you have any trouble sleeping at night or will be suffering from some jet lag, do not choose this apartment.
That being said, the beds were comfortable and the apartment was spacious enough for myself and three guests.
One more problem was ants. They crawled in anytime we left any food on the table for more than 15 minutes. Knowing Rome, it wasn't a huge surprise, but something I would have preferred not to deal with as a paying guest.
The balcony is a great plus and we were met with fantastic weather, but it could have been MUCH cleaner.
All in all, a good option if you're looking to be in close proximity to all of the sites, and there are great restaurants in this area, but keep in mind the smaller issues that may arise.
Nice time of year to visit
Great location near restaurants, grocery, shops, bars, night life, and historic sites. Nice outdoor patio. Could use a little updating of furniture
The apartment itself was as described and the person who met us was on time and informative. The issue we had was with the power (electricity) to the apartment. There were at least 5 times where we had to go and mess with the breaker because the power went out. If anything extra was running or plugged in, it would trip the breaker. So, we couldn't use a hair dryer, straightener or the fan system during our stay. I know this can be an issue with older buildings, just wish I had been aware of it ahead of time.
A bastion of peace in the lively heart of Trastevere, Genovesi keeps you close to the action without actually bringing it home. Historically multi-cultural, Trastevere is a perfect sample of all the best Rome has to offer, in terms of shopping, drinking, art, history, and of course, culinary delights. From this central location, the historic center is easily reached on foot, and Trastevere is served well by a multitude of buses
