About Teresa Brooks

My husband and I moved to this beautiful region of France after enjoying many lovely holidays in this area of the Loire Valley. This is our semi retirement from the very busy lives we led in the UK. We now have the space and time to enjoy growing our own vegetables, gardening, keeping a few chickens and enjoying our hobbies. We now have a different lifestlye away from the hustle and bustle of modern living, a step back in time.

This will be our second season in France after a very pleasant and relaxing first year.

Teresa Brooks purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Teresa Brooks chose Maine-et-Loire

We chose to move to this area,as with its great local amenities it ticked all the boxes. Being close to the Loire River with a direct, uncomplicated drive from all of the cross channel ferry ports .La Cordonniere is the perfect location for touring the many magnificent chateaux and attractions of the Loire valley.

Our propery itself is just outside the market town of Noyant but in a rural setting with no immediate nieghbours. Our home is a converted barn in two acres of ground and your gite is the original independant cottage in the same grounds, close to us but with its own exclusively private garden and pool.

What makes this cottage unique

Our grounds offer the space and peace of rural living.

The gite is an icon of times gone by, very atmospheric and beautiful, The cottage originally two properties now converted into one dwelling makes for a very spacious living accomadation, With its thick tuffeu stone walls the house lives and breathes of days gone by.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Very many thanks to Roy and Teresa We found the Gite very relaxing, the well equipped kitchen made things easy. What a wonderful relaxing holiday

C'est magnifique

Lovely gite and lovely hosts = lovely holiday

  • 5 of 5

We're just back after a lovely week in Teresa and Roy's cute little gite. We had a really lovely restful holiday, with welcoming and very accommodating hosts, in a beautiful setting. The weather was fairly kind to us - a bit uncertain when we arrived, we even considered lighting the wood burner! Hard to imagine by the middle of the week when we were almost too hot to move. Luckily the pool (magnificently maintained by Roy) was just the thing to dip into for a cool off. There is everything you need in the gite for a relaxing holiday - Teresa left a welcome supply of essentials (including chilled wine of course!) for our arrival and they were both on hand to answer any random requests or recommendations during our stay. We had some great days out on the doorstep, and cycle rides, but in fact just sitting in the garden and relaxing by the pool was all we really needed to do. Missing Les Rosiers already and hoping to go back again one day.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your fantastic review, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and also thank you for your lovely comments in our visitors book and of course the most welcome bottle of wine you left for us in the fridge. Les Rosiers is perfectly positioned for sight seeing, the many castles, wine tours and the man made beaches are great for children, or you can just relax and enjoy your pool (32c max temp so far this year) and the garden, listening to the birdlife around us. We have counted over 30 resident and visiting species, including a montagues harrier which hunts over the farmers field next to us.

Very nice get away place, in particular for families with children

  • 5 of 5

We have enjoyed our stay. Teresa and Roy took care of all needs. The place was well prepared and very clean. Pool was in top condition, checked everyday by Roy. There was not a single complain from our side. Merely the opening times of restaurants and other places in that region was a bit surprising: 8.00 pm (almost) no restaurant in the region could be found open and serving dinner.

But after all. it was a nice holiday.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and it is lovely to know our efforts are appreciated. We offer the experience of tranquillity in rural France. However we are not far from the major towns of Saumur, Tours, Angers as well as the Loire river. There are good local restaurants that offer a four course meal (wine included ) for a good price of about 13 euros at midday, French eating times. There is a good French Restaurant locally La Pelican, they offer an excellent lunch time menu as well as true French Cuisine. Local restaurants are best booked in advance for evening meals and we have the internet available for you to check their opening times as they do vary considerably.

Fantastic cottage and pool, lovely location and super hosts

  • 5 of 5

This gite was a fantastic end to our French holiday. Our children loved the pool and the garden toys, our littlest learnt to swim within a day of getting there. Teresa and Roy were fantastic hosts and the welcome pack was a real treat, especially Teresa's peach jam. The cottage was a great base for sightseeing along the Loire which was only half and hour away. The cottage had real character and everything we needed, I would thoroughly recommend it for a relaxing week.

Lovely Gite and Hosts

  • 5 of 5

A warm welcome from hosts Roy and Teresa, the gite has a lovely private garden, with bbq, pool, loads of toys for kids - our two girls loved it! A nice welcome package provided by hosts on arrival, who were available when needed for advice, and took plenty of time introducing the girls to Toby the dog, and helping them collect eggs from the chickens. The gite and adjacent buildings are very traditional giving a real sense of history. The weather was very warm for our stay but can imagine the two log burners in the gite would make it very cosy in cooler months. The local area offers some great opportunity for exploring with nearby swimming lakes, local markets etc. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovey review and we are really glad you enjoyed your Holiday. it is really lovely for the children to enjoy the garden and pool, and for the parents who don't have to go out to entertain the children if they just want to relax themselves. A Holiday to do as much or as little as you want to.

Quaint and quiet cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at Teresa and Roy's property. They were extremely helpful and checked in on us regularly to make sure we didn't need anything. The cottage itself was exactly what we were looking for in the country. We were able to visit all of the chateaux we wanted to see and, thanks to our hosts' suggestions, able to see some places we had not heard of. Highly recommended!

Good for all

  • 5 of 5

We visited as a couple and only used the downstairs bedroom and shower but this cottage would be great for families as previous reviewers have said. Teresa and Roy were good hosts and the cottage facilities were first class. As my other half is a non flier we have, over the years, rented many places throughout France and Les Rosiers rates as one of the best, especially with respect to the dealings with the owners both during the booking process and the stay. When we first started renting in France we both worked so self catering was not part of the plan exceot for breakfasts and some lunches and we ate out in the evenings. Now in our seventies, well in in my case, we still eat out and we found good places to eat within reasonable distances. We left details with Teresa and Roy who are going to include them in the excellent folder of local information that they have provided. One last point not mentioned in previous reviews ia the very good wifi connection.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your outstanding review. We are very pleased you enjoyed yourselves and loved the Loire Valley. The families that do stay love our garden and pool, there is so much room for them to play and relax. Our cottage is well equipped for extended families, so grandparents can enjoy a holiday with their children and grandchildren. With local beaches and horse riding available (Fourier Vernoil) at nearby Vernoil, this area has attractions for all ages. You can have a relaxing time or a very active holiday in the local area.
