Why bill courtney chose Joseph
Joseph drew me in the first moment I drove into town in 1998. I came back the next weekend and bought the Barn House, where we were for many years. Now we are up in Hurricane Creek Canyon and love our beautiful home and property on Hurricane Creek, where we plan to stay forever. Come stay with us. You will love it too!
What makes this Apartment unique
peace and quiet and tranquility with beauty as far as the eye can see. joseph is oregon's first citywide arts and cultural district and one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Everything you could need is there. Gorgeous place!
Linda and Bill were incredibly gracious to share there slice of heaven. As hikers the apartment location couldn't be better as it is practically right next to the Hurricane Creek trail head. Wonderful place to stay.
Hurricane Creek House's sweet apartment has everything you need in an open, well-decorated plan. Just a short drive from Joseph's main street shops, it is above the valley and near a trail head in a National Park. The property is beautiful, and you can sit and enjoy it on the deck.
Clean and welcoming
We had only one night here, but the apartment was perfect for two. Nice deck overlooking the landscape and a great location for the Hurricane Creek Trailhead.
Best VRBO Experience Ever!
Three years ago our son backpacked his way around several western states and, when he returned, announced that we just had to put Joseph, Oregon on our list of "Places to See". Joseph was his absolute favorite of all the beautiful spots he visited. We found it to be perfect in every way. We paddle boarded on the lake, ate in fun, yummy restaurants, hiked through gorgeous scenery (the trek from Two Pan Trailhead to the meadow below Eagle Cap is awesome!), met welcoming local folks and even made some new friends!
Our home base with Linda and Bill was more than just icing on the cake; they are really wonderful people who have created an idyllic home-away-from-home for lucky travelers to their town. The apartment is situated for privacy and offers a tranquil setting that is almost ridiculously delightful. You'll get to see the twin fawns and their mom wandering about, listen to the creek as you drop off to sleep after a full day of activities, and enjoy your morning coffee from the window seat with a view of the mountains beyond the trees. The apartment is spotlessly clean and cozy yet roomy. The bed is super comfortable; no aches and pains when I rolled out in the morning. Plus, we appreciated all the windows in every room. The view each one presented seemed almost like a beautiful painting framed on the wall. We went through a suitcase full of "play" clothes during our stay so it was nice to throw in a load of wash to tide us over until we returned home. Linda has thought of and provided everything a visitor might want or need.
Truly, we've always been fortunate with the quality of lodging we've found through VRBO, but Linda's home is far and above anything we've experienced so far. I could go on and on about all the amenities the Hurricane Creek House offers; if you read more of these glowing reviews you'll get a complete understanding of just how special this place really is.
Oh, and if you are like my husband and me and find yourself craving pets you've left back home, Sammy the Cutest Dog helps fill that void. He often trundled up the steps to visit us and hang out. We were smitten from the start with that boy!
If the thought of visiting a beautiful corner of our country filled with nice people and awe-inspiring scenery appeals to you, Hurricane Creek House should be your destination.
thank you rhonda for your kind words about our home and property. we love to share this magical place with others and were so happy to meet you and marshall. you are our best guests ever! i hope you come back and see us again! linda
Peaceful and lovely, with quail and owls
The Hurricane Creek apartment was a quiet, peaceful base to see some of the attractions of this beautiful corner of Oregon. The apartment is spotlessly clean, and has a simple yet complete set of what most people would need for a few days' stay. We appreciated the kitchen, which is small but has adequate pots and pans, a full-size refrigerator, stove and oven, and even some herbs and spices. I usually buy butter when I stay at short-term rentals because it's never clear if there will be oil to use for my morning omelet, but the kitchen even had some oil and (bonus!) balsamic vinegar! As other reviewers noted, not a kitchen to make serious gourmet meals, but definitely more functional than a hotel kitchen. The bed is super comfy, and the window seats are fun (check out the 'white' quilt in the bedroom--surprise! it's actually a lovely vibrantly-colored cover!). There's no view to speak of from inside the apartment (and none promised in the description), at least of the mountains, but the deck is a lovely place to spend the evening after the sun goes down and you're done with the day's explorations of the area. We especially enjoyed the several quail families and their balls of fluff youngsters, and the resident Great Horned Owl (or two) who appeared at dusk each evening. A couple of does and their fawns made regular appearances too. We didn't meet the owners, who were away while we were there, but they left some tiny surprises in the apartment for their guests, a nice touch! If you try out this spot, the Wallowa Lake Tramway is a really nice day trip with an easy hike to see several viewpoints and an interesting place to have a gorgeous view during lunch at the restaurant on top. We also drove to the Hat Point overlook, which was fun if you don't mind narrow gravel roads and dust.
