As an owner operated unit, we offer a much more personable experience versus a property management company bogged down with hundreds of rentals and not enough time to cater to the needs of individual groups.

A wonderful retreat
Great location. Great for families. Clean and comfortable with many thoughtful amenities. Owner is attentive and easy to communicate with. I highly recommend this rental.
This home was perfect for our vacation. We had everything we needed for hours on the beach, the pool area was incredible, and Katie was easy to work with. Beds were very comfortable too!
Great place but not really designed for 7 people
The unit is only 2 bedroom and so while they advertise it will sleep 9 people, I can't imagine how cramped it would be if you had that many people. We had two families with 3 kids (7 people total) which meant that there were 4 people in one bedroom and the oldest child was on an air mattress in the living room (which had to be moved out of the way every morning).
The unit itself was in good shape (other than the front door being out of batteries - I had to purchase batteries as we only had one key). We also had a smoke alarm go off at 3 in the mornining, which was a real pain. The property management company obviously does not have a standard maintenance program to ensure that batteries are always fresh.
The pool is not heated and is FREEZING cold. The kids didn't mind it but i didn't see any adults spend more than 5-10 minutes in the pool.
I wouldn't rent this unit again for a group of 7 people.
The Mauna Lani beach club was a real hit with everyone, although if you want to eat dinner at the restaurant there, you should make reservations well in advance to you arriving. They were already booked for dinner one and a half weeks in advance when we arrived.
Overall, we had a great time but they really should advertise this place as being a 2 bedroom unit that can sleep a few more people if you need to.

I'm sorry that you felt that the unit was too small for your group. It is listed on this website as a two bedroom, and your daughter also contacted me two months prior to your stay, asking about sleeping arrangements. She was aware that the unit was a two bedroom and that one of the children would be sleeping on an air mattress, and mentioned this in her initial email to me confirming that we had an air mattress for the third child.
If your party felt that a two bedroom was too small for your group at this point, you could have canceled your booking with no penalty, as it was more than two months prior to your arrival date.
As for the batteries and smoke alarm, I wish you would have contacted me (the owner) or our property manager, as instructed in your rental guide and in the emails sent prior to your arrival. I am always happy to help if an issue arises, and our property manager should always be notified immediately if anything is not up to our guest's standards so that it can be remedied.
We do stock extra batteries in the unit, and would've been happy to have someone come to change them to have saved you a trip to the store and the expense of purchasing new batteries.
Unfortunately, the only time that I head from you was two days before your departure, when you let me know that the can open was not working.

Well appointed home in a beautiful community, spectacular common pools, great location!
Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise with us. Your home came as advertised and was perfect for our family + grandma/grandpa. Enjoyed the lap pool, and common pools/hot tub almost daily. Made use of the outdoor BBQ lunch area by the main pool. The beach club access was a nice bonus. We visited 11 spectacular beaches and did a few hikes including down to Captain Cook to snorkel. That and “Two Step” were spectacular. Saw lots of sea turtles, eels, and an eagle ray.
Mauni Lani was almost always sunny, even when Kona was rainy. My wife appreciated the air conditioning. House was well stocked and the beach/pool equipment and bikes were a nice plus. The boogie boards were both broken so we bought a nice new one which my son enjoyed thoroughly, and left it behind as a small Mahalo. Big Island is now my favouriteHawaiian island and I would definitely stay at Kulalani again.

The perfect vacation spot!
We had a wonderful stay in 804! Being one of the newer buildings in the complex, the foilage was not as well grown in as the older buildings, but the area was still very beautifully landscaped. The unit was well stocked and very clean. Building 8 was a short walk to the relaxing pool area and fitness building. Access to the private beach area is a nice bonus and was well utilized by us!
Kate was wonderful to work with and was very willing to accommodate our needs. We love the area and would definitely consider staying again!
Comfortable, well located property.
A small hiccup upon arrival was quickly sorted by owner and cleaning team. Otherwise, it was comfortable and meet all my needs.

*To clarify, this guest arrived to a unit that had not yet been cleaned. This was a complete scheduling error/miscommunication between us as the owners and the cleaning crew. We immediately sent someone over to remedy the situation, and refunded the guest for one night's stay plus an additional $75 for his troubles.
