Holly Cottage is a stunning detached property, which is peacefully located on a quiet country lane in the beautiful Cotswold village of Coln St Aldwyns. Surrounded by unspoilt countryside, with lovely walks through the Coln Valley on the doorstep, the village benefits from a well-regarded country inn, post office and shop, and a beautiful church that dates back to the 12th century. The larger market town of Cirencester is close by, with its wide range of pubs, shops and restaurants, and Coln St Aldwyns is also well placed for exploring the many beautiful towns and villages of the wider Cotswold region.
This picture postcard Cotswold stone cottage has a lovely country feel, with numerous character features, including exposed beams, flagstone floors, and an inglenook fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove. The cottage is decorated and furnished in a contemporary style, which beautifully complements the traditional character, and there are modern facilities including wireless internet access, a Smart TV with Apple TV connection and a DVD player, as well as a stunning country style kitchen.
Holly Cottage sleeps eight people, in four bedrooms, with two bathrooms. There is a large courtyard garden with lovely bushes and plants, which contains a table and chairs, plus a charcoal barbecue, from April to October. There is also a driveway at the side of the cottage, with parking space for four cars. Holly Cottage is an idyllic property, which is perfect for a family or a group of friends seeking a relaxing break in a lovely village, surrounded by the stunning Cotswold countryside.
Booking and payment
Character Cottages is a marketing agency and we do not own or manage any of the cottages listed on our website. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.
For bookings commencing more than 10 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 10 weeks prior to arrival.
All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.
A security deposit of £250 is payable, which is returned after the letting period, subject to an inspection of the property. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival. In the event that the owners, or their appointed housekeepers, have to spend additional time tidying up after your departure, then the cost of this extra time may be deducted from your security deposit. Guests are requested to refrain from taking food and drink up to the first and second floors which are fitted with sisal carpet and are difficult to clean if stained. The security deposit is payable prior to arrival at the property, via a bank transfer or a valid debit or credit card.
The maximum occupancy of the property, including its grounds, is eight guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than eight guests at the property.
Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by one additional infant.
Regrettably, pets are not accepted.
Bed linen and towels
Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.
Arrival and departure times
Arrival time is after 4pm and departure time is by 10am. Access is via a key safe, therefore it does not matter if you are arriving late at night.

Heating, fuel and logs
The property has an oil fired central heating system.
Electricity and oil are included in the rental price. There is a large inglenook fireplace in the ground floor living room and logs are provided from October to April under a fair usage policy (there is an honesty box for contributions towards the cost of logs used). Please note that free logs are normally available, but, on occasion, there may be situations when the previous guests have used up all the logs and the log supply cannot be replenished immediately.
The property has free wireless internet access, and a Smart TV with an Apple TV connection and DVD player.
Please note that the cooker at the property is an Alpha cooker (similar to an Aga).
There is no telephone at the property.
Guests should be aware that mobile phone reception can be very poor in Coln St Aldwyns.
The property has a private driveway, with parking space for four cars.
Where a letting exceeds nine nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen and towel change may be included in the price. Please check with us to confirm. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.
Child friendly facilities
A travel cot (without linen), high chair and two stair gates are provided.
The property's garden is not enclosed and therefore young children should be supervised outside at all times.
A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, washing powder, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.
Accessibility, health and safety
This is an old property with character features, including sloped ceilings and some low beams, which is laid out over three floors, and could therefore pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, or carrying babies, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to exit the house quickly in the event of an emergency.
There are no window locks on the first and second floor windows.
The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.
No smoking is permitted throughout the property.
Hen, Stag and other same sex groups
Unfortunately, Hen, Stag and other same sex groups are not allowed at Holly Cottage.
If you would like to enquire as part of a same sex group, please contact us, as these may be accepted at the sole discretion of the property owner. Please note that same sex family groups are welcome.
