Beautiful farm and friendly people
The farm was an amazing experience for us, especially our kids.
The house was picturesque with beautiful scenery. I loved sitting on the patio with a book and watching the landscape. The landlady was friendly and helpful. It was an extra bonus that the landlady lived on sight, when questions came up.
The ONLY thing that would make me think twice about staying here again was its location was far out from the city, and there wasn't much public transportation or stores available without a long walk.
Inside the home was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was functional and the dining area was a reasonable size.
We were paid special visits from the farm's very friendly dog, and enjoyed seeing the dairy cows and calves. Occasional rabbits were also seen on the farm. Definitely a place for animal lovers..
Really nice spacious modern homely property
Lovely country setting next to the farm, comfy beds, all kitchen equipment you would expect, dish washer, out side seating area. Helpful friendly owners.
Amsterdam trip for 5 days
We had a great time staying at Elly's. With a bit of preparation you will figure out how to get to Amsterdam in around one hour. The relaxed atmosphere of the farm and the fact that we could have a coffee (already in the house) in the morning was amazing. We really enjoyed our stay, we didn't have any problems and the owners were really friendly and helpful! Hope to see you again soon!
We loved the quiet peaceful location of this self contained cottage. Close enough to Amsterdam and lovely smaller cities and towns, and close to Keukenhof and tulip fields. Must have a car. There is a lovely supermarket and shops a short drive. When you first arrive it is unclear which door to knock on or where to go to find the owner. A small sign might be helpful. We stayed for 5 nights and other people also seemed confused on arrival during our stay. There are 3 properties they rent out next to each other but separate and private. Lovely country views from each place.
All double storey. Ours had 3 bedrooms, 1 downstairs and 2 upstairs with lots of available beds. Only bathrooms were downstairs though. Bathroom very large. Kitchen newish and well equipped. Could benefit from a few improvements. A folder of information, on such things as how to use the oven or where the laundry room is, and suggesting some nice local restaurants or where the supermarket is, or some suggestions on attractions close by. It just helps you feel welcome. I would also suggest a handle in the shower as it is slippery and my husband with walking difficulties has some trouble showering. Good place for wheelchair though, easy to park close to cottage and main rooms all on one level. A hair dryer would also be good. Nice owner and we certainly enjoyed our stay.
Lovely house, lovely location
A great family holiday.There was 9 of
us and house was perfect for what we wanted. It was spacious, clean and lovely to be in the countryside. The beds were very comfortable.
It was no problem to bring our own towels but if anything it would have been easier for tea towels and dishcloths to have been provided by the owner as this is not the sort of thing you expect to pack especially when flying!!
Access to washing machine/iron was easy.
We didn’t have a car as we flew to Amsterdam. We caught 2 buses and then a 15 minute walk to accommodation from the bus stop in Romeflat.. It might not be for everyone but it was fine for us with hand luggage.
We caught buses to Keukenhof and Amsterdam central and both were easy. The buses run every 15 minutes so never waiting long.On the bus you buy a ticket for 6.50 euros. This lasts for 90 minutes.you check in when you get on and check out when you get off the bus. Therefore you can use ticket on more than one bus if needed. My 6 year just had a day ticket for 1 Euro. Remember to check out otherwise the clock continues ticking and you’ve used the ticket! As we did!! The ticket also includes the trams. We were told that singles were cheaper than a return.. it certainly worked out cheaper than hiring a car and parking!!
Lovely supermarket 15 minute walk from the house which sells lots of fresh produce, however we were able to use the bikes belonging to the house so took no time at all!
It’s very peaceful at the house and the views are lovely.
Didn’t miss not having a car, I think parking in the centre of Amsterdam would have been stressful and it made a nice change to go on a bus and see the local area and have chance to walk off the pancakes!
The owners are very friendly and I would definitely stay here again. We had the best of both worlds...the city in the day and countryside in the evening.
Thank you Xx
