Séjour de charme dans les Highlands

  • 5 of 5

Accessible but with a feeling of remoteness

  • 4 of 5

Cosy, comfortable and homely cottage. Very tranquil setting. Loved the log fire. Within easy reach of a number of mountain ranges e.g. Glen Shiel, and Skye as well as the hills within the estate which involve a long walk or cycle in. Transport to these may be available by negotiation with owners, as we did. Attadale Gardens are delightful, even at this time of year, and gardener I spoke to was charming and knowledgeable. A special thanks to Joanna for her kindness during our stay, and for a very interesting insight into her life on the estate.

Wonderful Attadale

  • 4 of 5

Our third visit in six years, all Autumnal visits, we have had three great holidays, visisting Lochash, Plockton, Skye and Applecross during the day and enjoying the comfortable cottage with it's wood fires in the evenings. Would greatly recommend.

Attadale West Bothy

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic location, wonderful place, the wood burning stove made the property warm despite the weather outside. Bathroom and one bedroom downstairs which means that if you have mobility problems you are still catered for. Owner and her staff extremely helpful and friendly. The location is a mile along a well maintained estate road. There are a further 7 miles of track up into the hills which you can walk or bike along. The Attadale Gardens are a wonderful place to wander round and has a self service tearoom with locally made cakes to die for.

The ideal Highland retreat for families

  • 5 of 5

We have been visiting the Attadale Estate off and on for the past 25 years. That's because we love Wester Ross that chance to return to an estate where we have always had the most amazing and memorable holidays.

The cottages are simply furnished, spotlessly clean and well-maintained. There is always a posy of flowers when we arrive and those who work on the estate genuinely want you to have a special time.

It is the perfect place to visit if you are looking to escape the hurly-burly of city life and you don't need 4-star furnishings and service in order to have a relaxing holiday. The estate has spectacular walks and some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe are a short drive away.

Once you've stayed you'll probably want to keep it a secret from family and friends... there are few places left that are this unspoilt.

Joe Pelissier and family.

Excellent location in the Scottish Highlands

  • 4 of 5

We had heard about this location from a friend and it was just as good as he had told us. Close to Lochcarron but set in a scenic valley in the grounds of Attadale House with its beautiful gardens.

We had the biggest of the cottages, Strathan House which will sleep eight although one of the twins is a little small if you have two burly walkers and their kit. We only had one lady in it and that was fine. The other rooms are an excellent size. Parking is a bit limited but you can park on the grass if necessary. We had five cars and managed ok.

Being hillwalkers, getting a lift seven miles up the valley from the head keeper was a great bonus. We climbed both the Munros easily from there on a lovely sunny day.

The Strathcarron Hotel proved excellent for both food and drink.

Overall, it was a great week.

Attadale is a 30,000 acre estate in the North West of Scotland. It stretches from the south shore of Loch Carron to Loch Monar, 15 miles away to the east.

Attadale is ideally situated for touring the North West Highlands. To the North are Applecross, Loch Torridon, Loch Maree and the famous gardens of Inverewe. To the South is the magnificent scenery of Kintail, Glenelg and, at Kyle of Lochalsh, the bridge to Skye.

Attadale Gardens is close by and free access is available to all those who have rented accommodation at Attadale Holiday Cottages.

Lochcarron is but a few miles away around the loch with a number of shops selling useful items.

Other Activities: Fishing, walking, climbing, sailing

Golf: Loch Carron Golf Club -

Lochcarron is a nine hole golf course, although there are actually eleven tees. It measures 3575 yards for eighteen holes and is an enjoyable challenge of accuracy. The Standard Scratch Score and par score for the course is 60.

Every hole on the course offers the golfer something of a challenge.

Whether it is simply avoiding the beach on the first three holes or trying to keep your ball on the humpbacked green at the seventh and sixteenth, all players will find the course a test of skill and character.

Being partly along the shore, a player really knows when the wind blows. Due to the criss-cross nature of the course, the golfer can find themselves faced with a downwind tee shot, then one into the wind and finally a crosswind shot and all in the space of three holes.

The greens are all quite small. Some are flat, some sloping and others with tricky breaks and borrows. They come into their own in the fine summer conditions.
