About Lorraine & Geoff Kearsley
We are a recently retired couple who after first holidaying in Corfu in 2010 immediatly fell in love with the area, it's people, the tavernas, and the quiet, lazy way of life. We bought the house two years ago and renovated and refurbished it to provide us with a charming practical holiday base that could be used by both our family and a good quality property for rent. We hope Villa Chiquitita will offer anyone holidaying there, a nice quiet holiday location for relaxation and a convenient point from which to explore the north east coast and beyond.
Lorraine & Geoff Kearsley purchased this Villa in 2015
Why Lorraine & Geoff Kearsley chose Corfu Regional Unit
When we started our search for a holiday villa we recognized in Villa Chiquitita a unique opportunity to acquire a holiday home near to the seaside villages, tavernas and coastal scenery we love. We were attracted to this property as we recognized it's potential to provide an excellent family holiday home; set among the olive groves, overlooking the stunning vista of Corfu channel with the backdrop of the Albanian mountains. When we first viewed the villa it was neglected & unloved. The back garden was overgrown with weeds, the exterior of the building required damp treatment and painting, but it had been extended and had a new roof. The swimming pool was derelict but is now fully refurbished and benefits from the heating we had installed last year. We made improvements internally and fitted the property out properly to modern standards. We have, since we started holidaying in the area in 2010, come to know a great many Corfiot people who go out of their way to be helpful and friendly.
What makes this Villa unique
When we were looking for a Villa we had a few key aims. The property had to be located near to Kalami where we first stayed on Corfu. It had to take advantage of the tremendous views across the Corfu channel and the Albanian mountains beyond. Lastly, Villa Chiquitita is in the quiet idyllic location we sought, away from any main roads. During the refurbishment and fitting out of the Villa we have attempted to provide all the facilities to make a holiday home here as comfortable as possible.

Fantastic villa with every possible amenity. Ahead of arriving the owners sent excellent information
This property far outweighed our expectations, fabulous and highly recommended.
We have just returned from a fabulous week at Villa Chiquitita. We stayed at the villa last September and loved it so much that we booked up for our holiday this year.
We were so happy to arrive back to the familiarity of Viggla, it is such a beautiful, peaceful village with stunning views on the drive up hill to the villa.
Upon arriving we were so grateful for the welcome pack which saves you having to go straight out to the shop. It has all the essentials you need which is such a relief after hours spent travelling.
The villa was just as we had remembered it, spotlessley clean with everything you need for your stay. It really is a home away from home with the most amazing views over to Albania.
You have so much choice for local restaurants you really won't know where to try first. Although we had been before to some of the restaurants, we did also try a couple of new ones which were fantastic. Our favourites were Taverna Agni and Dimitri's, they were both superb as Dimitri's offer a taxi service where George will pick you up from the villa and take you to the restaurant then take you back after your meal. He was such a lovely man and we really enjoyed talking to him on the journeys. With Taverna Agni they offer a boat service to pick you up from one of the local bays which then takes you to the restaurant in Agni Bay. It was such a great way to arrive at the restaurant, we loved it. Both of these recommendations were given to us by Lorraine and we were so glad we took her advice.
Finally one of the main reasons we wanted to return to the villa was because of Lorraine and Geoff, we really feel they go the extra mile to make sure you have the best possible stay in their lovely villa, both as a first time and then returning guest. Nothing is too much trouble and they have thought of everything to make your holiday a memorable one. We will definetely be back again, the villa and the beautiful location cannot be beaten.
Fantastic Villa in a beautiful part of Corfu
My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful stay at Villa Chiquitita. From the moment we booked the villa we received excellent information from the owners Lorraine & Geoff giving plenty of useful tips regarding car hire & how to find the villa from the airport.
Upon arriving at the villa we knew we had made the right choice, the villa was in such a beautiful, quiet setting overlooking Albania. The views are simply stunning and we never got tierd of looking at it.
The villa was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with plenty of outside areas to sit and take in the views with a glass of wine.
After a long day travelling we were so grateful to find that the fridge was stocked with food and drinks which saved us having to go to a shop. That was such a nice touch which we have never had before.
The villa is located in a beautiful part of the island with easy access to the resorts of Kalami & Kassiopi & all the wonderful tavernas nearby. You will be spoilt for choice as to where to eat. We took Lorraines recommendations and were not disappointed, we had amazing food every night. Our favourite was Taverna Agni in Agni bay, the food and atmosphere was fantastic.
From the hospitality of the Greeks to the wonderful food, I cannot recommend Cofu enough but the icing on the cake was getting to spend a week at this beautiful villa.
We would like to say thank you to Michelle & James for taking time to review our villa.
We are so pleased you enjoyed your time both in beautiful Corfu & also in our villa. It’s good to know the welcome pack was well received, it’s not good to arrive to an empty fridge after a long journey.
We thank you also for taking care of our house & choosing to stay.
Idyllic Location and Quality Villa
This property is high up in the hills surrounded by picturesque countryside and stunning views, consequently a car is a must. The villa is superbly equipped - the owners are delightful and keen to ensure that our stay was enjoyed to the full and very quick to respond to any queries we may have had, aside from providing detailed info and directions for our arrival (even in the dark, due to our late arrival in Corfu) and places to see and visit and recommended restaurants etc; In the unlikely event of anything going wrong there is an established management company to call upon. We were 5 persons and have no hesitation in recommending a stay here - We are certain to be returning to the area and hopefully another stay in Villa Chiquitita.
Thank you so much Sally & Tim for taking the time to review our villa. We’re so pleased you were all comfortable & that all the family enjoyed the holiday.
If you do return to the area it would be a pleasure to welcome such lovely guests back to our holiday home.
Many thanks for choosing our home & also taking care of everything so well.
Kind wishes, Lorraine
Lovely villa and pool - great location - very peaceful - immaculately presented - very well equipped. The owners could not have been more helpful. Highly recommended.
We would like to thank you for your lovely review.
We are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday & the Island of Corfu.
A clean, modern and comfortable villa - a real home from home with everything a family could need
We just spend ten nights at this lovely villa. It really does have everything you need for a relaxing and hassle free holiday. Spacious rooms, comfy beds and sofas, fully equipped open plan kitchen, WiFi, powerful showers, large and beautiful outdoor space with fantastic swimming pool and amazing view.
The bays and pebble beaches of nearby Kalámi and Agni are very pretty, with crystal clear water and lovely tavernas. Our favourite was Thomas’s Place, Kalami, where we loved the food, the setting and being made to feel so welcome. There is plenty of information in the villa on the surrounding area, things to do and other restaurants to try.
The owners Lorraine and Geoff are helpful, friendly and brilliantly quick at responding to any queries or requests you may have during your stay. We booked a car hire through their recommendation.
We would not hesitate to recommend Villa Chiquitita.
Thank you Lucy for taking the time to review our villa. We’re so pleased you all enjoyed your stay & the beautiful surrounding area.
It was a pleasure to have you all to stay & Thankyou for picking our villa.
For those holiday makers who wish to see some of the island there are a number of attractions well worth visiting.
It is worth noting that Corfu Town is designated a Unesco World Heritage site, where the influence of various occupations throughout history have left their mark in terms of buildings, customs and cuisine.
The British introduced the islanders to cricket and the occasional match can be viewed on the Esplanade ( Spianada ) cricket pitch. The boundaries are rather short though so do not park your car within range!
The Old and New Fortresses dominate the town and were built in an effort to repel marauding invaders. The climb to the top of either afford views over the old town.
The Liston, built by the French during their time on the island was modeled on the Rue De Rivoli in Paris, on the orders of Napoleon and is now a series of cafes, bars and tavernas where locals and tourists congregate in the late afternoons and evenings.
The British cemetery can be found between the Town Centre and the Airport; a well tended commemoration to the soldiers who perished on the island during the occupation.
The International Airport is named after the Greek Prime Minister who fought for Independence. His name is a bit of a mouthful but for the record it is Ionnis Kapodistrias.
The church of St Spiridion can be seen and visited and is located in the narrow shopping street of A. Spiridonas. He is the Patron saint of Corfu and is held in high esteem having repelled Turkish invaders. Every family in Corfu has at least one member named after the saint.
There are monuments to many held in high regard, museums to browse, archaeological excavations near Mon Repos where there is also a museum of ancient artefacts. The Duke of Edinburgh was born at Mon Repos located between Garitsa Bay and Kanoni, and he spent his early childhood in Corfu.
We could go on listing the delights of Corfu Town but there is much more to Corfu. There is the Archillean Palace near Gastouri. The Palace was built by the Empress Elizabeth of Austria as a memorial to her legendry hero Achilles before her assassination in Paris at the hands of a bolshevik student.
For those wanting a little fun on water slides etc there is a popular water park near Ag. Ioannis. It is approximately 55 minutes from Viggla.
The iconic view associated with Corfu is at Kanoni. There are two cliff top cafes overlooking both Ag. Vlaherna and Mouse island or Pontikonisi. Short boat rides are available from the jetty below Kanoni. The two cafes also afford a great view of the jets landing and taking off from the airport.
Venturing north from Viggla, Kassiopi is some 13 minutes away where there is a small harbour lined with Tavernas. Boat trips can be taken from here but tickets are bought from any one of a number of outlets located along the main street to the harbour.
Driving further North, the resorts of Acvharavi, Roda and Sidari will be reached. Sidari is famous for it's Canal D'Amour where the soft rocks have been hewn over aeons into channels and shapes.
Closer to Vigla, the author Laurence Durrell wrote several books while living at the White House in Kalami. Another of his narratives appears on the wall behind the reception counter at the Taverna- visit the Taverna to see what is says! ....
Although the TV story of the Durrells has Laurence living with the remainder of the family at Kontokali, he and his wife Nancy took up the tenancy of an apartment at the White House that was owned by the grandfather of the present owner Tassos Atheneos. Laurence even paid for the addition of the top floor, so he could look out over the sea for inspiration whilst writing. They lived there until the outbreak of war in 1939.
The White House is now a thriving Taverna and apartment concern. Tassos's wife, Daria, operates the the restaurant ably assisted by her local chef and waiters.
You can while away the hours over a lazy lunch, gazing out across the bay to hazy Albania in the distance.
The White House itself, is themed as the Durrell's family house and there are many references to historical facts and films shot in the area.
The eagle-eyed film buffs among you, will recognize Kalami Bay from the opening sequences of the Bond film 'For Your Eyes Only' (1981). The Anthony Quin film 'The Greek Tycoon' (1978) also featured local scenes and was a thinly disguised tale of Aristotle Onassis and the widowed Jackie Kennedy.
Whatever, your particular interest or holiday sporting activity requirements, there is something in Corfu for everyone.
We have various guides, maps and help with directions etc in the Villa to make your stay as pleasurable as possible.
We have provided a comprehensive Villa guide for our guests to help you with the facilities in the Villa and directions to a few of the beaches, bays, Corfu Town and other places of interest. We have provided basic translations of the the guide in German, French & Italian. We hope our guests will find these useful.
