Originally designed and built by a local architect who privileged a light and airy atmosphere.

Beautifully tailored garden and striking views on the village and medieval castle. Nearest beach is at Cassis, a great small fishing port, about 1 hour drive.

A large pond, l'Etang de la Bonde is 9miles away (about 18 min drive)

Outside: Wonderful garden with a large private swimming pool (9x8m - 1m deep shallow end and 2.2m on deep end - alarm secured) with a wooden deck, overlooking the village.

2,000 m2 of grassy area with olive, fig, cherry trees and a striking maritime pine tree providing shade all day long.

Large parking spaces including a covered area.

A terrace by the pool with a large teak table, a gas barbecue, shaded by a sail.

A terraced balcony ideal for breakfast or an evening drink.

The village: Cadenet is a living village and has a small supermarket, several shops, several boulangeries, restaurants and a bi-weekly 'provençal' market. All 5 minutes walking distance from the house.

Other surrounding villages offer supermarkets, butchers, traiteurs, and market days. Lots of local wineries for wine tasting.

If you are a classical music fan, the august piano festival of La Roque d'Anthéron is one of the biggest in the world and is only 10 minutes away.

Cadenet does offer all.

Travelling: If you are travelling from outside of Europe, the best way to get to Cadenet is flying to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport where there is a direct connection by high-speed train TGV either to Aix-en-Provence TGV station (30 min. drive) or to Avignon TGV station (1 hour drive).

If you are travelling from Europe, the closest Airport is Marseille (45 min. drive).

Use of car is essential to fully enjoy the region.

Cadenet is extremely well located to visit the region. You can reach Aix-en-Provence in 30 minutes and Avignon in 1 hour. The Cote d'Azur and Camargue is 1.5 hour away.

Some of the prettiest and most popular villages in France are within a stone throw. Lourmarin, Cucuron and Ansouis are 5 minutes away. Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Bonnieux are 25 minutes drive away.

About Ilda Cartaxo Goyard

Gerald is French, Ilda is Angolan/Portuguese. They live in New York since Dec 2013 and have 3 children. Prior to the US, they have lived in various countries such as Angola (where they met), Portugal, France, UK and United Arab Emirates. Gerald is a Finance Director for a multinational company; Ilda does some freelancing mainly on the information research field. During their many years of expatriation, they decided to buy a “pied-a-terre” and Gerald made his wife discover the wonders and beauty of Provence. In Dec 2009, while visiting houses for sale in the area they literally fell in-love at the first sight of the house.

Cadenet is a perfect spot, country-side inland Provence but not too far from an international airport – Marseille - enabling them to easily visit wherever in the world they lived. Although a quite touristic area, in-land Provence managed to keep its very French way of living, with lovely local markets, charming and authentic villages, lavender fields and a varied and exquisite landscape. The beautiful mountain villages of Bonnieux, Lacoste, Menerbes and Roussillon and the pretty pastoral villages of Cucuron, Vaugines, Ansouis,Lourmarin are all very close by. A day at the beach is possible at the Calanques of Marseille and Cassis only an hour drive away. A more cosmopolitan side can be found in Aix-en-Provence and Marseille, for when they need the buzz and practicability of bigger city.

What makes this villa unique

Ilda & Gerald absolutely love the impression of space and the light spreading inside the house. The modern architectural design and carefully thought and built house plan with all rooms facing the garden. The splendid open and airy garden and the fruit trees. Waking up to the sound of the birds and the 'cigales' is a bliss.

La Maison dans l'Herbe has a very stylish, high ceiling and spacious living / dining room (dining 10) with a fireplace and full-length sliding doors opening to the garden. High standard furniture. Satellite LCD TV, DVD, CD and Stereo System with iPod dock. Luxury bed and bath linen changed every week. Pool towels. Mid-week 3h cleaning + 5/6h week-end cleaning for stays longer than one week. No smoking inside the house but allowed outside. Events allowed with owner permission only.

A Stunning contemporary home in a beautiful settin

We had a wonderful week at this superb contemporary home located on a hill overlooking the town's church steeple. The village of Cadenet is charming without the tourist trappings of many other Provencal villages.

The location is perfect and an easy drive to starred restaurants, other villages, wineries and even the coast (Cassis is lovely and only an hour away).

The house is well equipped, light filled and spacious. Great kitchen and baths and the house is gated to assure privacy. Spent many an afternoon soaking up the sun at the pool or sitting on the deck or porch enjoying a cold glass of Rose'.

I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking to rent a wonderful residence. As a bonus, the owners were approachable and full of information for our trip. RDD.

Perfect!

We have stayed at this house for the third consecutive year (once on our own as a couple, twice with friends and family) and we must say that we are always looking forward to come back!

The house itself is amazing, spacious, bright and cosy at the same time.

Outside the graden is immense and perfect to have kids around, enjoying the big swimming pool and huge trees shades for a nap.

Totally recommend it - all the relevant information about the house and the area was very useful and the owners are very approachable and friendly.

This beautifully designed house will give you a fantastic sense of space and light with its large living-room and full-height glass sliding doors opening to a tailored garden with wonderful olive trees, a fantastic pool and striking views of the village and medieval castle. You may choose to have breakfast or enjoy an evening drink in the small outside living room, have a quick lunch in the cool of the kitchen, and dine outside on the large teak table by the BBQ, looking out to the pool. You may decide to spend an active day, discovering one of the numerous villages perching on the hills, shopping at the numerous local markets for the bountiful produce of the region, or you may decide to do nothing and stay at the house all day, resting in the shade, listening to the humming 'Cigales', or going for a walk to the nearby castle and cooling off in the pool. Cadenet is an authentic Provençal village. Lourmarin is 5 min' drive, and Aix-en-Provence lovely city is only half an hour drive away. You can also easily reach Avignon, Marseille or Baux-de-Provence at 1 hour drive away.

On the other side of the Luberon, Bonnieux is less than half an hour drive at 17km / 11 miles, Roussillon is 40 min drive at 27km/17 miles and Gordes is less than 1 hour drive, at 35km/22 miles
