Bedrooms 2, Bathrooms 1, Sleeps 6
George and his team were very helpful - responded quickly over whatsapp and were waiting for us for our arrival. Also arranged transport for us at 4am to our ferry! There were few things in the apartment (toilet paper was out when we arrived) and no soap/shampoo etc- but we were able to buy some nearby. The location was great. We loved sitting on the balcony watching people walk by and the shutters provided safety, silences, and darkness when we wanted to sleep. It was great for us and our two kids.
"Spartan" accommodation in Plaka
The location is fantastic in the centre of Plaka; and the communication with the manager was very good. He arranged transfers from and to the airport- thanks.
This apartment is very basic. The second floor of an older building . There is a pretty good balcony overlooking the street below.
The kitchen is small and poorly equipped, -- not that you'll want to do a lot of cooking with all the great restaurants nearby.
The bathroom could use some "love" -- no toilet paper holder, insufficient paper provided, a broken toilet brush (this brush is very important in Greece); no soap, shampoo or hair dryer is included; counter space is limited, shower is only a hand held.
Bedrooms -- biggest complaint is there is nowhere to put your stuff -- no chest of drawers, no luggage racks; pillows are cheap foam type.
Generally the furniture is inexpensive "garage" sale second-hand purchases.
This place could be great with some attention to detail but generally - very basis or "spartan" accommodation.
The property was advertised as having an Acropolis view. The only view is of the top corner of the Parthenon and it is viewable only from a small kitchen window. The neighborhood is excellent for restaurants and accessibility to public transportation and the Acropolis. Photos of the property show toiletries in the bathroom and coffee in the kitchen. No condiments or coffee in the kitchen and only small packets of shower gel in the bathroom. At 6:00am on my last day I was awakened by loud pounding on the door. I finally got up and opened the door to find a man there telling me that he needed to come in.and clean.. I told him my check out time was at noon.
Excellent Little Apartment
This apartment could not possibly have a better location. Overlooking Plaka's main one-lane street, it's literally a two minute walk to the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum, to the best restaurants in the area (Psaro's), or to the crosswalk for The Temple of Olympian Zeus. It's also only about 15 minutes to Monastiraki and Syntagma Squares. The kitchen window looks up at the Acropolis and the front balcony is so charming.
The apartment itself has two dedicated bedrooms (one with bunks), of which the master is really excellent. The family room (in the American sense) is actually a third bedroom with a convertible sofa, but it feels like a bedroom. The kitchen is tiny and, in fact, so small that we didn't even bother to use it. However, it would be fine for storing milk, OJ, cereal, eggs, etc. Don't plan on cooking Thanksgiving dinner in it though. For a family of 3 or 4, the place is spot on.
George was a superb landlord: very responsive and he also arranged a very good airport transfer for us (E$70 each way). It's a fair price and a great place.
Location, location, location!
It was perfectly situated near all.
In the heart of Athens, just steps to the Acropolis entrance, shopping and resturants.
Nice 3 bedroom unit that accommodated our family of 5, George set us up with transfers from the airport and back for a reasonable price too. Location could not have been better! Don't hesitate.
