Chalet Beinn is a charming barn conversion retaining many original features. It is a five bedroom all ensuite chalet situated in the small Alpine village of St Jean D'Aulps, 6km from the resort of Morzine in the Rhones-Alps region of France. The main living area (over 90m2) incorporates the kitchen, dining and lounge area giving ample space for a busy house. The dining table easily sits 14 for an enjoyable night in. A separate TV lounge area is located upstairs (Freesat HD – BBC, ITV, etc.) The chalet has central heating throughout as well as a beautiful open fire keeping the chalet warm throughout the winter. The chalet also includes a bar area, pc and free WiFi throughout.

A separate ski locker is located outside the front door helping to remove the clutter after a day on the slopes. There is ample space for three cars in the driveway, additional cars can easily be parked on the street.

Getting There: The easiest airport for regular flights and good onwards links is Geneva, however Chambery, Annecy and Lyon airports offer flexible alternatives, particularly in the height of the season.

From the airport there are regular shuttle buses that can be booked online offering fast and simple transfers either direct to the chalet or to the centre of Saint Jean D'Aulps.

Alternatively there are various car hire companies available at all the main airports.

Those coming from London may wish to consider the Eurostar Ski Train.

Food/Eating Out: There are three main restaurants in Saint Jean d'Aulps village offering excellent food. The Haute-Savoie area is renowned for its tartiflette made with potatoes, reblochon cheese, cream, and lardons which is a must try for the first time traveller. Additional favourites like Fondue and Raclette are also widely available. Staff are generally able to communicate in English where necessary.

The local Abondance cheese is also worth a try.

Additional restaurants can be found in Morzine and Les Gets as well as a new establishment in Seytroux.

Mountain/Hill Walking: The French Alps are the ideal location for walkers in the summer. The main ski lifts run to provide quick access to the best routes for an unforgettable experience.

A wonderful warm and cosy chalet with tonnes of space

This chalet is wonderful. Much bigger than the photos suggest - to my mind twice as big. We went as a group of three families and had a fabulous skiing holiday. We cooked for ourselves in the excellent kitchen, all had hot showers for as long as we wanted each night, enjoyed the log burner every evening whilst sitting the extensive dining table and lounging on the super comfortable sofa. The children were in heaven and parents relaxed and happy.

We drove up to Morzine to ski and parked easily and cheaply for the day in the Plenty lift car park. The parking at the chalet was plentiful and we never had any problems with the cars. Carrefour express and the large Carrefour are on the short trip to Morzine each day so top up shops were easy.

This is an excellent property to rent. Thank you Mr Dow!

One of the best places to stay

well were do I start what a fantastic place to stay very roomy comfortable and well laid out we liked every aspect and position of this chalet. The small village was a short walk away and the ski slopes only 15 to 20 drive away a great place to stay very homely would stay here again can't recommend highly enough please stay there and see for your self you won't be disappointed . Thank you the owners for a fantastic place to stay.

Beautiful chalet in a beautiful village

Brilliant holiday ! Excellent chalet with massive lounge / dining /kitchen - spot-on for large groups. Tranquil location, yet less than 5 minutes walk in to the village, with restaurants, shops, supermarket etc., and ski slopes within easy reach all around Only 5 minute drive to Morzine, which is a much bigger town with a great selection of restaurants, bars, and shops. I am not a skier myself, but I am hoping to be back later this summer for the peace, the walking ( and the food )

Fantastic chalet for large family or group

Excellent chalet with above-average facilities, space and equipment. Lovely setting that gives you the real deal of a traditional village. Plenty of photo opportunities! A great base for a ski holiday in St Jean d'Aulps and the wider Portes du Soleil area. Thoroughly recommended.

Fantastic holiday in an excellent chalet. Thanks!

We visited with our 18 month old and had a fantastic 10 days here. The chalet was amazing, very well equipped, great kitchen/dining area, comfortable beds and well positioned to take advantage of local ameneties. Enjoyed a few short runs straight out of the front door and the little one Only a short drive to Morzine which we visited often. Even shorter drive to beautiful Lac Montriond for numerous walks. Only 20 mins to Anthy Sur Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) with great swimming (even in September!) and kiddies playground and space to run around. Owner was great in terms of providing information and ensuring we were able to settle in straight away. A excellent holiday in a great place!!

Chalet "Beinn", St. Jean d'Aulps near Aulps Abbey

For my wife, me and our friends the Chalet was the perfect place to stay.

The location of the Chalet is located along the calm historical old road with its scattered farm houses between Saint Jean d'Aulps and the Abbey. The new main road in the valley is away from Chalet.

Just behind the Chalet lonely hiking trails start to quite remote mountainous areas (up to 2000m as full day tours) and it is on the other hand only a few hundred meters away to an alpine school with various scenic vertical rock slopes of up to 100m height.

For the daily supplies the bakery, restaurants, cafes, pubs etc. might be reached by walking in reasonable time, however, supermarkets and shopping centres, cable cars, etc. the public bus or an own car is recommended. For the public transport there is a bus stop nearby at the loop from the main road to the abbey.

The Chalet was very clean, comprehensivly furnished and well maintained. The well-equipped integrated kitchen and the impressive large dining table served all needs of the twelve persons and together with the living room are considered the heart of the Chalet.

We will recommend the Chalet to our relatives and friends.

Saint Jean D'Aulps is a picturesque and charming village, situated in the Haute-Savoie. It makes the perfect location for your holiday as part of the Portes Du Soleil resort, which is the largest linked ski area in the world encompassing 14 French and Swiss resorts. It boasts 650km of piste (206 ski lifts, 41 green, 109 blue, 110 red, 28 black, and 4 snow cross runs) as well as lift access to over 380km of mountain bike and hiking trails in summer.

SJD offers a better value and more attractive location to a busy Morzine chalet, but retains easy access to all the facilities. The ski bus stop is within 100m and transports directly to Morzine, Les Gets and La Grande Terche (10min). Local bars, restaurants and shops are only a few minutes walk away. The main supermarket for Portes du Soleil is on the outskirts of SJD.

SJD is ideal for ice skating, climbing, paragliding, kayaking, canoeing, white water rafting, hydro speeding, swimming, fishing, pony trekking, tennis, ballooning.

Other Activities: Climbing, kayaking, white water rafting, hydro speeding

Golf: Two local couses are available in Les Gets and Avoriaz during the summer months.

The Les Gets Golf course has a hole named after the nearby peaks: with Mont Blanc or the 7th hole being the most impressive of this line up.

Additional courses are available in Flaine (45 mins), Le Grande Bornand (1hr) and d'Esery (1hr). Many additional courses available towards Geneva.

Ski: Saint-Jean d'Aulps ski resort is part of the Portes du Soleil ski area, with 650kms of slopes encompassing 14 French and Swiss ski resorts, and is the biggest international ski area in the world. It covers 400 hectares, 206 ski lifts, and 288 slopes (41 green runs, 109 blue runs, 110 red runs, 28 black runs, 4 snowcross). It also has hundreds of kilometres of free ride areas. St Jean D'Aulps' local ski area La Grande Terche is a short drive/ski bus away. La Grand Terche offers excellent intermediate level skiing and magnificent scenery. The area is also linked to the resort of Bellevaux and its 'Domaine Roc d'Enfer', with an impressive 11 km run descending back to 'La Grande Terche'. There is an 'ESF' ski school which provides lessons for all levels and accepts children from the age of 4. Younger children from 2 months can use the nearby crèche which has a very good reputation.

The ski bus stop is within 100m of the chalet serving Morzine, Les Gets and La Grande Terche within 10min.
