Barbados is an island paradise with its breathtaking scenic views and miles of white sandy beaches. Despite its small size, there are a wealth of interesting places to explore, from the historic Capital, Bridgetown with its abundance of shops and restaurants to the dramatic rugged East Coast where the Atlantic rollers break on the large rocks and reefs making it ideal for surfing. The highest point on the island can be found in the centre and is a great experience for lovers of natural beauty, who want to see an array of botanical wonders, gullies and cane fields.
Sugar Hill is located on the beautiful West Coast just a 5 minute drive from Holetown.
Holetown was the first settlement in Barbados and was originally named Jamestown after its benefactor Kings James I of England. There is a large stretch of beach in Holetown that welcomes visitors and provides various water based activities including boat trips and swimming with Turtles to name but a few. First and second streets are filled with a wide variety of restaurants and are very popular especially at the weekend.
There are also several beach front restaurants in Holetown including Zaccios, The Beach House,Tides and Surfside. Holetown has a large supermarket across the street from the beach and close to the Chattel Village shops where you can view local art, craft and fashion.
To the North of Holetown and the island’s northern-most town, also within close proximity of Sugar Hill is the first commercial centre of Barbados, Speightstown, once a major seaport and important fishing village. Smaller than Holetown but still with its own supermarket, shops, Post Office and art gallery as well as some beach front restaurants. Mullins Beach is located en route to Speightstown and is a picturesque bay with a nice, placid beach almost all year round. As residents of Sugar Hill you will receive a free beach chair and towel if you visit this beach. There is a restaurant and plenty of water activities to fill your day with including boat trips and snorkelling. On the opposite side of the road is Mullins Beach Indulgence spa offering a wide range of treatments, pool and Spa Café. We recommend you look at the magazine, ‘The Ins and Outs of Barbados’, copies of which are usually available at reception and around the Island, for details of restaurants, shops and property.
