First Floor - elegant sitting room with 160 degree sea views from Annet in the west to St Martins in the north east, with spectacular sunsets from March to October. Hearth for coal fire, double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and additional single bedroom.

Second Floor - two light and spacious twin rooms with dormer windows on both north and south sides (capacity for a third bed in one). Bathroom, with separate toilet.

There is an extensive library including natural history, archaeology, art and Scillionian local interest publications.

There is a private garden in a former gun battery, with barbecue and easy access to rocky foreshore.

WiFi, electric heating through and linen all provided in the price.

There is a beautiful 'battery' garden with direct access to a splendid rocky foreshore. The islands provide for a huge range of leisure activities and are ideal for family holidays, romantic getaways, nature lovers or activity based breaks for anyone interested in sailing, swimming, diving, riding, birdwatching, walking etc. There is easy access to the world famous Tresco gardens by boat, a five minute walk up the hill takes you straight to the Star Castle Dungeon Bar and through the Garrison Arch into Hugh Town you will find a range of great restaurants.

This fabulous self catering home has a huge kitchen, grand dining room, and elegant upstairs sitting room.

The four bedrooms sleep7/8 and there are sea views from all bedrooms.

The property was all that we wished for, roomy, well equipped and ideally located, the perfect house for our two weeks on Scilly. The owner was friendly and helpful, even though we changed requirements after booking.

Spacious, comfortable and perfect location

We booked Newman House for seven retired members of our family, ages 62 - 92. We were all absolutely delighted with our choice. The house itself is very spacious and comfortable and we were very well looked-after by the owners and housekeeper. There was nothing about the house that disappointed us.

But when it comes to the location ..... things only get better! Newman House is close enough to the ferry terminal in Hugh Town to allow you to be settling yourselves in just minutes after docking, but far enough away to feel secluded and quiet. The garden and the first floor lounge both provide wonderful places to sit and admire the view across ocean and islands, but we had little time for such pleasures as we were active everyday, walking, biking, kayaking or climbing either on St Mary's or one of the other islands.

This was our first trip to the Isles of Scilly. When we come back, our first call will be find out whether Newman House is free.

A wonderful retreat

Three of us needed a self-catering house on the Scillies while on business. Newman House was exactly what we needed - comfortable, well equipped and with superb views. The welcome was as warm as the fire, and the whole place was spotlessly clean.

We would definitely make Newman House top of our list in future

A LOVELY, WELL KEPT HOUSE ON THE SEA SHORE, IT WAS WELL EQUIPPED AND LOOKED AFTER. OUR PARTY OF BIRDWATCHERS ALL LOVED THE HOUSE AND THE POSITION WAS IDEAL. THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED.
