Studio Petit Hibou
Petit Hibou is a small self -contained studio on the 2nd Floor of a chalet, with access via 25 steps up to its front door. The accommodation has 1 bedroom with a double bed (with room for a cot), a main living area with Kitchen/dining space and a separate bathroom.
The Kitchen is fitted with an oven with grill, a refrigerator and a dishwasher. The living area is furnished with a double sofa-bed and a single-bed futon. The windows offer delightful views of the Meribel valley in all directions.
Petit Hibou is suitable for any combination of up to 5 people. It can be rented separately or combined with our chalet Chez Leone below to sleep 10. It is available for both winter and summer lets.
We have 2 properties available in Meribel located just down the hill from Meribel's main supermarket. Both offer a high standard of accommodation that would normally be found in only catered chalets.
There is a free car park next to the chalet, so there is plenty of parking.
The chalet and studio are about 800m to the ski lifts. It's less than 2 mins in the car and there is also a free bus.
Its a 5 minute walk to the town centre and shops.
All the linen and towels are included. There is free wifi for both properties.
Many of our clients use Chalet Kitchen, a company that offers high quality and affordable chalet catering, delivered to your door. Its great if you've booked a self-catered ski holiday but don't fancy spending every night in the kitchen
We ran a family catered Chalet company for 15 years so have a lot of knowledge of the resort. Chez Leone offers similar standards to a catered chalet but as a self catered chalet, so the rental costs are much less. The feel and warmth of the chalet is a lot more cozy than a standard self catered apartment.
Clean and cosy, disappointed not to have met the owners, we did arrive very late (ie very early hours of Wednesday... paid for whole week ) and they kindly left the lights so we could see our way in but there is no outside light at the top of the metal stairs which need to be navigated with care to enter the apartment! Had thought that we would have had some kind of welcome ,ie a note to say 'welcome' and maybe a bottle of wine or juice, every other holiday let we have ever stayed we have always been left something!!.
So we arrived tired and somewhat grumpy, having had nothing to eat or drink since the airport (it was snowing so the journey was tricky) there appeared to be nothing at all left to make a drink, however we found tea and coffee the next day hidden under the TV of course! where else would it be !?....! We never did get a padlock for the ski locker , it was supposed to be in the apartment .
The directions to find the place could be a little more idiot proof, as when you are tired and a little stressed after a turbulent flight and journey not to mention trying to get out of Geneva airport without going onto the Swiss motorway!, your brain doesn't always work that well and we spent an hour in Meribel trying to find the place (tried to call the owner but phones were off, we had no wifi so couldn't use maps:) .
In honesty felt it was expensive for what it was, certainly the most we have paid for the least in return, but then in Meribel ...which we have not stayed before... that seemed to be what it was.
Toby (owner ) had sent me a text )to say call him when we ready to leave) on the morning we were leaving but it didn't come through until we were on our way to the airport ( the cleaner came as we were leaving), so altogether a bit of a shame, as they sounded like a nice family. Hope this doesn't put you off staying here think we were just unlucky and it was fine for the 3 of us, (wouldn't want anymore though ). It is convenient for the bus, slopes and very well stocked Spa shop.
We took both properties for our family ski trip with 4 adults and 3 children and were really pleased with the accommodation and location. The chalet is situated in a lovely corner of Meribel; which set back from the road with good parking and is very quiet at night. The chalet and apartment are lovely inside, very well equipped and filled with ambience and mountain charm. The beds were comfortable and well appointed and we all enjoyed our evenings in the cozy chalet after fantastic days out on the slopes. We had Chalet Kitchen provide our catering each day; so all we needed to do was heat the meals which they delivered each morning and enjoy them. It was a brilliant way to ‘do' self catering. We will definitely be booking again next year!
Reasonable location. Five minutes walk in ski boots to free bus..In our opinion overpriced for the service offered.Heavily soiled bed linen and pillows.Well used double bed that dipped in the middle. Not a well equipped kitchen for 5 people. We have been told that improvements have been made, we hope that is the case for all future visitors..
