About Richard & Judith Battersby
We were both born in Yorkshire and have lived and worked here all our lives (except 4 years north of the border). We love Whitby, the coast and the North York Moors.
Richard & Judith Battersby purchased this House in 2006
Why Richard & Judith Battersby chose Whitby
Streanaeshalch is a modern, comfortable house in a beautiful setting. Close enough to Whitby but quiet enough to hide away if you prefer.
What makes this House unique
The view from the balcony, especially when the steam trains pass by. Walking distance into Whitby. Free parking
100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date. 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
A clean, well equipped house in a stunning location
A really comfortable house which was spotless It was equipped with everything you could possibly need, even down to cling film and foil to wrap our sandwiches. A lovely selection of games. If the weather had been better, it would have been lovely to sit on the balcony and watch the river and the trains go by. We were greeted by a welcome tray of posh biscuits, hot chocolate, tea and coffee bags which was a lovely touch
I don’t see how our stay could have been better ( apart from the weather!)
Thank you for such a lovely review, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We do try to think about the extras that guests don't need to be bringing with them. We'd love to welcome you back sometime, hopefully with better weather.
My Wife and my daughters took my 18 year old Godson who has Downs Syndrome to this cottage as a Birthday treat. We really liked the look of the place from the Homeaway website and it was one of the few places I could find which offered a 2 night stay without wanting to penalise us for having a limited time for a visit. I think it worked out for the 5 of us less than £20 per person per night. The standard of the house is much better than any we have stayed in before either in this country or overseas. Set over 3 floors this would be perfect for anyone with the exception of perhaps somebody elderly. My wife actually broke her leg about 3 weeks before our visit. She negotiated the stairs quite easily even after a few glasses of wine. The house is equipped with literally everything you need. Our plan was to walk into Whitby from Ruswarp but my wife's leg prevented us from doing this. Abbey Cars did the journey for less than £10 if you cannot walk the 2 miles. They knew exactly where the house was when I booked. It really was a brilliant weekend and we will definitely go back again. No question. The owners deserve real credit. A brilliant place to stay.
As a footnote we took my Godson to a little place called Burgsys in Whitby for Dinner over the weekend and what a little find that was.
A great weekend enjoyed by us all. Many thanks to the Battersbys
Very peaceful location
Lovely house and well equipped. Loved that we could leave the car and walk into Whitby over the viaduct.
Thank you for your review, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. It's a lovely walk into Whitby, just a pleasant distance and a great view across to the Abbey.
The house was fine for a base to explore the area.
