The Honeyholm is a 400 year old cottage nesting in the Strathendrick valley adjacent to the Loch lomond and Trossachs National Park. located in a beautiful riverside setting with stunning views across open fields to the Dumgoyne hills and the Campsies.

Just one mile from the historic village of Balfron the cottage is perfectly situated for access to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National park as well as the historic seats of Stirling , Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The Honeyholm has been newly renovated to a superb standard ;please come and relax in style. A gem of a cottage, which will provide a super base for outdoor pursuits or city visits.Perfect for families with a play garden and great for parties with large lounge, wood burning stove,oak floors, old stone walls and great catering kitchen.

About Julie Kirkpatrick

Ian and Julie love the countryside and surrounding area. It is perfect for hill walking , running and cycling.Loch lomond and Katrine are nearby for water sports or a boat trip. Julie enjoys gardening and is a development worker with adults with learning difficulties.

The local farmers make great neighbours and the villagers of Balfron,Killearn and Fintry are very welcoming.

Why Julie Kirkpatrick chose Scotland

The Honeyholm was originally worker cottages and is one of the oldest homes in the area.The cottage has been fully renovated as you can see from our facebook page. We have retained old stone walls and the original fireplace inside., now with a large wood burning stove. Adjacent to Honeyholm stone bridge and the river Endrick, the cottage has a fabulous location and wonderful views of the Dumgoyne and Fintry hills.

What makes this cottage unique

Honeyholm is a gem of a cottage , with charm and history as well as modern comforts.

To sit on the patio and watch the river go by and the sun on the hills is my ideal day.

  • The Honeyholm has one downstairs and two upstairs bedrooms. All have en-suite facilities with the Master suite having a full bathroom,bath and separate power shower, with Paris balcony overlooking our gardens. The downstairs bedroom has beautiful views of the hills and gardens. A double bed and en-suite facilities. This large shower room has easy access low level power shower with grab rails and a shower chair for clients with mobility problems. The second bedroom has full sized twin beds. A walk in window has stunning views. An en-suite shower room provides comfort and style. The master bedroom has a king sized bed with again a walk in window with a similar view. A spacious en-suite bathroom has bath with separate power shower and French windows opening onto a paris balcony. Spoil yourself with a little bit of hotel luxury.

The cottage is spacious, clean, and has gorgeous views.

Our group consisted of five women and the cottage was perfect for us. It can be difficult to find a home with a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor and this cottage has a nice, cozy bed and bath with a walk in shower. Very accessible for someone with limited mobility. Ian was a wonderful host. He is friendly, charming, and helpful. We enjoyed the scones and jam that welcomed us. The cottage is clean and neat.

Nice location & cute property

The rental is located in a secluded area; the surrounding countryside & view of the bridge out the back of the property was beautiful. We appreciated the owner's advice & suggestions for local attractions. It was definitely helpful to know that the owner was accessible (they live in the adjoining property). This property was well cared for & I would not hesitate booking here again in the future.

Amazing time and fantastic location

I had a great time at Honeyholm as I really felt like home. The cottage is cozy and bright. The location is fantastic and it was great to chill in the garden. Our host was a kind and helpful. I really recommend it.

Comfortable and quiet

Our stay was great! The location was beautiful but we had a few problems finding it in the dark. We had plenty of room for our 2 families totalling 7 people. Thanks for the kind hospitality of Julie and family. We enjoyed our time close to Balfron!

Just one mile from the historic village of Balfron the cottage is perfectly situated for access to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National park as well as the historic seats of Stirling , Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The Honeyholm is in a countryside setting, and surrounded by the historic villages of Balfron (Home of Scotland's best 10K!!), Drymen,Kippen and Killearn. As such the villages have a rich history of Rob Roy Macgregor and have wonderful local fairs and Agricultural shows throughout the year.

The honeyholm is adjacent to Loch lomond and Trossachs National park,Queen Elizabeth Forest park and the West Highland Way passes close by through Drymem. Hill walking and cycling, fishing and golfing are all on your doorstep.

In addition the cottage is well located for touring and access to the Historic cities of Glasgow(40 minutes), Stirling(30min) and Edinburgh(60 min).

Stirling and Edinburgh Castles are well worth a visit

Stirling city is the Gateway to the Highlands if you wish to go further afield.

The honeyholm is surrounded by farms and wonderful open countryside.The Village of Balfron was birth place to Alexander Greek Thompson. One of Glasgow's famous architects of old.

The picturesque village has a full sized swimming pool and well equipped gym, Doyles deli, butchers,supermarket ,Wonderland gift and bespoke jewellery shop , Rona Smart massage and holistic therapy ,two pubs and a small array of shops.

The area has a multitude of farm Shops ,so you may sample local produce, and pubs /coffee shops if you wish to eat out.

The Balfron 10K at the end of April is very popular and the surrounding villages have an array of fares and shows on throughout the year. From the Fintry music festival to Aberfoyle's mushroom! festival, there is something for everyone.

The Drymen Show at the end of May is a highlight and the Highland Games are on through the summer in different villages and towns.

A week may just be enough to squeeze all that in !!
