Le Romarin is a detached, stone-built holiday home, situated in a small hamlet of a total of six holiday homes, called la basse Maza Beautiful views over the surrounding mountain landscape. Ideally suited for people who seek nature and tranquility.
The house is comfortably and cosily furnished. There is a lot of outside space, three private terraces adjoining the house. There is also a large area for communal use, with children's play area, bbq terrace, boules court.
The house contains a large living room with fireplace. Sitting area, dining area and luxurious open kitchen. Downstairs a large bedroom with a double bed (160x200), a small bedroom with a single bed and a baby cot. Furthermore bathroom with toilet, washbasin and shower. From the living room a staircase leads to the (sleeping) loft, with two single beds (90x200).
Adjacent to the living room is a tiled terrace with garden furniture (good garden chairs, umbrellas, deckchairs). Next to the house a second, concrete, terrace. In addition, a natural terrace. There is always a place to be found in the sun or in the shade.
There is a small herb garden, with of course plenty of rosemary.
The area in which the house is located is ideal for walking or for excursions. You will find characteristic villages, beautiful river valleys and chestnut forests.
In the house there is a folder with tourist information about the area and with described walks.
For groceries, restaurants, terraces e. d. are you dependent on St. Sauveur de Montagut, about 8 km away.
The terrain of la basse Maza is adjacent to the Gluyère river. You can reach the river via a (fairly steep) footpath, however a good condition and mountain shoes are required. In the same river is near St. Sauveur de Montagut a pool dammed with deep and shallow part, and small sandy beaches. This is freely accessible. There will be supervision in July and August.
Le Romarin is located at about 500 m altitude in the Parc Naturel Régional des Monts d'Ardèche. Characteristic are the lovely river valleys with lots of fruit growing, the slopes with chestnut forests and sometimes centuries-old terrace walls, and the high plateaus and peaks that testify to a volcanic past.
Of course there are characteristic villages, cozy terraces and nice restaurants. But above all there is the peace, space and overwhelming nature. And in the evening you can enjoy an incredibly beautiful starry sky.
The municipality where the house is located is Gluiras (about 8 km). A small municipality with only about 500 inhabitants, but you will find a village shop / pizzeria and a restaurant. There are also beautiful walks to make from Gluiras.
The somewhat larger village, about 8 km away, is St. Sauveur de Montagut. Here are all amenities such as supermarket, bakery, butcher, restaurants and terraces, but also garage, doctor and pharmacy.
Particularly fun for children is the Parc Aquarock (: // an adventure park above the water, with zip lines etc.
At Eyrieux Sport in Les Ollières you can rent mountain bikes for a nice bike ride along the former train track along the river (la Dolce Via). There are also opportunities for canoe / kayak tours across the river.
Characteristic villages, which are well worth a visit, are Chalencon, Beauchastel and Coux.
In Saint Pierreville you will find Ardelaine, a wool museum with shop and restaurant, as well as the chestnut museum.
Also trips to the Gerbier de Jonc, the waterfalls of Ray Pic and the Mont Mezenc are certainly worthwhile.
There are nice markets for example in Le Cheylard or in La Voulte.
A larger city, about 40 km away, is Valence. This has a (small) historic center, a nice shopping center and a few hypermarches. Nice market on Saturday.
