2 Bedroom (one double, one twin), 1 bathroom. Sleeps 4

Our spacious and well equipped apartment is approached via a series of about 15 gently rising steps spread over 50 metres through well maintained gardens. A private gate leads into our tiled patio garden and up to the very large south facing terrace with patio furniture and spectacular views across the town to the Mediterranean beyond. Recently fitted white aluminium French doors open onto the terrace from both bedrooms and the lounge/dining room. Our kitchen and bathroom have been modernised and the kitchen boasts a full size oven and ceramic hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave oven. Both bedrooms were recently refurbished and new internal doors were fitted throughout. The floors were also retiled in 2011. Wi-Fi broadband is available and air conditioning / heating units have been installed in each room at no extra cost. A 200 yard walk away is the very large communal pool (open Easter to October) with separate children’s' pool and play area,. There are poolside bars and restaurants, a very useful Supermarket and a regular and very reliable bus service into town.

Local information: Tourism has not spoiled the charm of Nerja - local restrictions prohibiting many of the excesses found elsewhere. The pedestrianized town centre has numerous restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets. The 'Balcon de Europa' provides a palm fringed focus to the town, jutting out into the sea and providing an ideal stage for the excellent street entertainers that are licensed to perform there: an ideal place to join the locals on their evening stroll! Explore this pleasant town by horse drawn carriage, or walk the narrow streets of white washed houses and shop in a wide variety of good quality shops.

Local Attractions: Two miles away, the famous Nerja caves are situated close to a magnificent working aqueduct just outside the tiny seaside village of Maro. Amongst the caves' attractions is the world's largest stalactite. In addition to Nerja's beaches, there are numerous secluded beaches stretching eastwards along the coast past the tranquil Marina del Este towards Almunecar - an historic town 15 minutes away by car, with castle, Roman ruins - and a water park. There is another water park in Velez-Malaga - also about 15 minutes by car (westwards) from Nerja and adjacent to the nearest golf course (Baviera) and directly opposite a new, air conditioned, 125 shop mall, and multi-screen cinema (English language films shown).

Attractions further afield: Nearby are the Moorish hillside villages of Competa and Frigliana (the latter, only 4 miles away, was recently voted the most beautiful mountain village in Spain). Further afield are the lakes and countryside around Vinuela (35 mins), the amazing Alhambra Palace at Granada (90 mins), the ski resort at Sierra Navada (under two hours away via the same excellent Granada road), the uniquely British duty free port of Gibraltar (two hours), and even Seville and Cordoba (about 3 hours). For those who wish to sample the delights of Torremolinos and Benelmadena (but then return to sanity!), these resorts are less than an hour away.

Why Ted or Anne Thibaut chose Axarquia (Costa del Sol)

Having holidayed in Nerja in the mid 1990s we fell in love with the town as an attractive family holiday centre. Once we had decided to buy a second home Nerja seemed the obvious place to come. We viewed a number of properties in and around Nerja and on San Juan - but what made this one stand out were the stunning views from the terrace and the fact that we overlooked a large open garden space! When we saw the views it hardly mattered what the inside was like!

What makes this villa unique

Apart from the wonderful views we fell in love with the extensive terracing and the fact - possibly unique on San Juan - that both bedrooms and the lounge had French windows that opened directly onto the terrace.

The sun trap of a garden was just an added bonus!

  • The recently refurbished fully tiled bathroom has a white bathroom suite (with a full size bath and shower attachment). In addition to the new fixtures and fittings, it has a large mirror above the full size hand basin - with make-up lights above - a shaver socket, extractor fan, large towel holder and heated chrome towel rail. This room also has an opening window with built-in mosquito mesh.

  • The main bedroom has a large king-size double bed with orthopaedic mattress, large built-in wardrobe (with numerous hangers!), two bedside tables with lamps and an alarm clock, a chair, a full length mirror and wall mirror above the large dressing table/chest of drawers. There is sufficient space for either a child's bed or cot within the room in an alcove not immediately adjacent to the main sleeping area. There is a safe fitted in the wardrobe. The twin bedroom has two full width 3ft single beds, a large built-in wardrobe (again with numerous hangers - including children's' ones!), 2 bedside tables with reading lights, chair, chest of drawers and mirror. Both bedrooms have heavy curtains with light blocking linings and double French doors opening out onto the spacious terrace, with its beautiful southerly views over the town and sea. Notwithstanding, the design of the property is such that the sun does not enter either bedroom in the summer months - helping to keep them cool!

The apartment has a double and twin bedroom both opening onto the terrace with spectacular sea views. There is a fully equipped recently refurbished kitchen and the lounge/diner also opens onto the terrace which is furnished with a table and 4 chairs, a reclining chair and sun loungers. The terrace can be shaded by a wind-down sun blind. Cots and high chairs can be hired from our agent by arrangement. There is free Wi-Fi Broadband and air conditioning / heating units in each of the bedrooms and the lounge. There is a full size ironing board and iron,,a 32 inch flat screen LCD satellite TV with over 100 channels (50+ English speaking) to choose from - including all major UK terrestrial channels plus Sky Sports 1-5, BT Sports, film and kids channels, DVD player, CD player/radio, over 100 books plus guide books for your use.

A lovely traditonal Andalusian Style villa

This villa is really lovely decorated, clean and bright. The villa is spacious and is probably one of the largest there. The air conditioning and Wi-fi was an added bonus for us as most places in Capistrano do not have either or both. The double and twin bedrooms are spacious with double doors leading onto the balcony. There is a gorgeous view of the sea from the balcony which itself is surrounded with lovely flowers and a large tree that provides shade. The kitchen has a washing machine and microwave and is easily supplied to accommodate cooking in.

We stayed here in Summer 2016 with my teenage son but have been going to Juan Capistrano since 1998 when we had four small children to take on holiday. Most times we hire a car but a taxi can be pre-booked and costs (2015) between 60 and 70 euro depending on how many there are travelling. The peace and quiet combined with the overall beautifully designed Andalucian style villas, surrounded by flowering bougainvilea provide a picturesque area of garden walkways for all ages. However it can be restrictive for the very infirm. This villa itself has a private garden with sun loungers, that due to its design offers privacy from the other villas.

The pool and the supermarket is only 200 yards away. There is an English run very friendly and welcoming restaurant beside the pool with other restaurants close by. A larger supermarket called Supersol about 20/25 mins walk away to the entrance of Capistrano Village offers a delivery service for a small fee. Mercadona also deliver and an order can be placed on line at www.mercadona.es, a delivery time within a two hour time frame will be provided. A market is held every Tuesday and is 10/15 mins walk, towards Nerja centre while a regular bus service opposite the pool runs until 1050pm in the Summer. A taxi is between 6 and 8 euro, and takes about 7-10mins into the centre of Nerja. The staff in the Supermarket are very helpful and will ring for a taxi, however most taxi drivers have good English if you do not have Spanish.

We have found Ted and Ann very helpful and obliging when booking our stay here, left all the more easy through the use of e-mails and bank transfer of monies. We have since re-booked to return this Summer which we are looking forward to.

What a fantastic and well equipped apartment. Well maintained, in a great position with fabulous views. A real home from home with everything you could need on your holiday. The owners are lovely to deal with and extremely helpful and accommodating. We have stayed there twice already and will be definitely booking again for our next visit to Nerja.

Fabulous apartment, clean, spacious and lots of little extras - lunch boxes, beach toys, dvd's, books etc.

Exceptional views of the Med and incredibly well kept grounds and pool.

We loved this place, great for our family and would highly recommend it.

We hope to return.....

We had a wonderful week in this villa. It was extremely well kitted out, there was even buckets and spades for our 3 year old to take to the beach! Beautifully maintained complex, with all that you would need on your doorstep. We hope to return for many years to come.

Perfect property with stunning views.

This is a really well appointed property; it has everything you can think of for your stay in Nerja.

From the start of the process the communication from Anne & Ted has great and always very prompt. The location is perfect with fantastic view from the balcony with the sun all day long. We really enjoyed eating our breakfast outside in the early morning sun. The property was spotlessly clean and had everything you could need. The simple things like tea towels and cloths being already present meant that you did not need to go out and buy items just for the week the area feels very safe and is really quiet. The Wi-Fi is great for keeping in touch.

The communal pool is two minutes’ walk and was very clean and always manned by the lifeguards.

There is a bus stop within two minutes’ walk that will take you into town every half hour but for complete independence i would recommend a car. The town centre is less than 5 minutes’ drive.

In terms of value for money i can recommend this property highly enough and the photo's do not do it justice. The only hesitation i had about giving it 5 stars was that it may make the property more popular and decrease the chances of us getting the property the next time we return to the area.

We will be back.

Perfect place for spanish holiday, we'll be back!

Ann and Ted's place is beautiful, comfortable, clean and very well equipped. Me and my husband and our son enjoyed every minute of our stay. The holiday village is absolutely beautiful with green grass and blossoming plants. The pool area is very nice as well. Other guests were mainly middle age, senior or families with children, so it was peaceful and secure. The view from the house over Nerja to the sea is stunning, and it was nice that there are mountains on the otherside of Capistrano Village. Our main problem was that the place is so nice that we had to "force" ourselves to leave the place from time to time in order to see some Nerja and surrounding areas :-) The beaches, especially one nearby the Balcon de Europa are nice, all of them quite unique, the Nerja Cave is absolutely spectacular. We recommend visiting Nerja Donkey Sanctuary as well. We would advice to rent a car from airport. There's a free public parking are in the Nerja town with easy access to shops, beaches and restaurants. There are several good super markets, only few minutes drive away by car. We arrived late at night and had some difficulties in finding Capistrano Village in the dark.

Discounts of up to 15% are negotiable for rental periods in excess of three weeks outside the June/July/August/September rental periods.
Rental rates include all cleaning costs before and after the rental period as well as all electricity and water charges and a weekly change of bed linen and towels.
We have a local agent with an office on San Juan (by the pool complex entrance) who will be able to help with any queries you might have.

We normally ask for a 25% deposit to secure a booking with the balance payable 8 weeks before the holiday is due to commence. Special arrangements apply for bookings made over a year in advance. We post out keys to our guests 2/3 weeks before the start date of the holiday so that you have them with you on arrival.
