About the property

Our lovely 950 sq. ft. garden suite is conveniently located near coffee shops, restaurants, stores and all major banks. The main bedroom is very large with a king sized bed and a convertible king sized sofa bed. Our third bedroom is a converted den, so it undersized but does contain a double bed and is private. While we have enough beds and can accommodate up to 8 adults, you should carefully review the number of beds, and confirm details of your stay with me in advance of booking more than 6 people. We will charge an extra cleaning fee of $40 for groups greater than 6.

We are 10-15 minutes from the downtown core, only 6 kms from the airport and right beside public transit, in a very friendly neighborhood. We are very outgoing and open as we are both from the performing arts and were/are performers. We love hosting and are really happy to answer all your questions ranging from getting around in the city to where to find a good burger, a vegetarian meal, an interesting show or a great place for a walk.

We provide, a semi full kitchen and utensils, a brand new bosch dishwasher all bedding, all utilities, wireless internet, full premium cable TV and washer/dryer. Our sheets and covers are 300- 450 thread count. Cats and dogs are welcome and parking can be made available for an extra fee(s).

We don't store any of our possessions in this suite, so our spacious closets and chest of drawers are solely for your use. We live in a separate suite on the same property.

There are dropped ceilings in certain parts of the suite and in the bathroom, which could be an inconvenience for some people. Please contact us, if you are concerned about this.

There is easily accessible street parking, but there may be issues with longer term parking on the street. Our parking fee is $12.50 per day. Please indicate that you want to use our parking if you do. There are additional fees for extra guests after the first 3.

Check in at 4 PM, check out at 11 AM. Late check in's are possible but may attract an additional fee. Late check out's need to be arranged with us and also may attract a separate fee. 10 PM is quiet time. Pets are welcome and parking is available right beside the suite. We charge $12.50/day for parking and $15/day per day per pet.

We don't allow smoking inside the suite, but there is a convenient sitting area just outside the suite where you can smoke. For stays that are month long, we will provide a cleaning service once a week, or more by request, that will be charged at our usual cleaning rate.

Effective as of April 1, we will be charging a 5% sales tax.

About Harvey Meller

I am a former nationally produced choreographer. I am now a commercial lawyer and also do some entertainment law. In the winter I like to curl. My father owned a hotel in Winnipeg, so hospitality is in my genes.

My wife is an actor/playwright, poet and former stand up comedian. So we are both really out going and friendly, but will understand to respect your privacy if that is what you need. As performers and (former) creators we are attuned to what is going on in town. We have a maincoon cat and a shiba inu dog, who are both fabulous.

Why Harvey Meller chose West Side

This is a unique neighbourhood in Vancouver, as unlike most other parts of the west side, there are a lot of stores and restaurants just feet from our door. Also, this neighbourhood, has much more of a community feel as it more populated with working families and asian influenced stores and cuisine. We are well located as we are somewhat removed from the mansions of the Kerrisdale but with close enough proximity to include the tree lined beauty of the elegant parts of the west side, and the fabulous clean air associated with being close to the water. We are directly across from a bus loop, and an express line to the downtown is 25 meters from our house.

This is a unique home built in the 1930's when some of the best wood in the world was available at yards just a few kilometres from our house. The house is very well preserved and maintains its original art deco styling, and is a very compact design with little unused space.

What makes this apartment unique

Very close to the airport. with access to great discount shopping to the south and the downtown core and beaches only 8-15 minutes to the North. Starbucks is 50 metres away,

This is a very unique neighbourhood as it combines the friendliness and warmth of a close community with the beautiful, well maintained properties of Kerrisdale to the North. Granville Street, where the house is located is probably the most beautiful and tree lined street in Vancouver, a city known for its fantastic vegetation.

Stylish, well located and so kind

Harvey and Jenn's home is so lovely. The apartment is in their basement with a separate entrance. It is light, airy and stylishly decorated - it doesn't feel like a basement!

The apartment had been updated and has lovely amenities including comfortable beds and sheets. Harvey and Jenn even make sure there are treats and snacks in the kitchen.

As far as location goes, this place is great. Easy access to downtown, Richmond and the airport.

The biggest highlight was how helpful Harvey and Jenn were during our visit. They checked in on us to see we were ok and they also helped return important items that we mistakenly left behind.

I give them my highest recommendation!

Cozy Garden Suite

Well equipped, three bedroom garden suite apartment, suitable for short or long term stay.

My husband and I came to Vancouver to visit family and found Jenn and Harv very accommodating hosts. We booked our stay without much notice and were made to feel very much at home for nearly three weeks.

It is an older basement apartment but well lit and the cooking facilities are generous.

the location is situated near shopping, transit and an easy drive to downtown Vancouver.

Clean and well equipped for our stay.

The location was great for us. We had a vehicle but if you do not have one transit loop is right across the street so you can get down town or in to Kerrisdale very easily. We really enjoyed our family time as there were 5 of us and our dog and we all had a great time.

Room to spread out

Harvey and Jenn are gracious hosts. They both gave us helpful suggestions about making the most of our time in Vancouver. The basement apt. has three bedrooms and was adequate for my family of six. The kitchen is well stocked and is easy to move about in. Please be mindful, it is a basement apt, so ceilings, particularly in the shower, are low. This wasn't a big problem for us, though, as we didn't spend much time there other than to sleep. While we didn't get to walk to the restaurants across the street, we did like that the Safeway was less than 2 miles from the house. Downtown Vancouver is a 3 mile drive and a bus stop is right across the side street from the house. Thanks, Jenn and Harvey for your hospitality!
