The property was in excellent condition, clean and well-equipped (although there were some bizarre exceptions; a property with two butter dishes and ten wine glasses did not have any mugs or soup bowls...). It withstood a horrible weekend's weather well.
On the downside, it was a little soulless. A handful of books or boardgames would have been nice. The upstairs was curiously laid out, with little headroom for our teenager. And neither toilet flushed very well.
Overall a perfectly good stay at a reasonable price. It's a shame we couldn't have brought our dogs, the property and grounds would have been ideal for them.
Barnham is a very lively village with an excellent selection of shops and restaurants as well as a mainline station to Brighton/London/Chichester. There is also excellent access to the main A27 so that places such as Chichester (8 miles), Goodwood (7 miles) and Portsmouth (25 miles) are within easy driving distance. There is an excellent beach at Climping, only about 4 miles distant, and the beautiful and historic town of Arundel is situated just to the east. There are so many places to visit in the area, both of historic interest and also of scenic interest. HMS Victory at the historic dockyard in Portsmouth is a popular tourist attraction, as is Spinnaker Tower (also in Portsmouth), which has wonderful views. There is horse racing at both Fontwell and Goodwood and Chichester has the internationally renowned Festival Theatre. Some of the best beaches in the area are to be found near Barnham, with West Wittering being one example. If all you want to do is relax and go for long country walks, there are footpaths all round the immediate vicinity.
