Cottage Within Walking Distance To Downtown Shops/Restaurants.
About Christine Rufener
My husband first took me on our 1 year Anniversary date to Chincoteague, I fell in love with the charming fishing village and we bought the cottage the very next year. We love anything that has to do with the ocean, fishing, seafood, boating, beaches, lighthouses, antiquing and sun!
Christine Rufener purchased this Cottage in 1999
Why Christine Rufener chose Chincoteague Island
I fell in love with the little cottage the day I went to look at it. It was filled with antiques and the lady had it decorated it so nicely. Unfortunately, they did not convey with the house. I loved the hardwood floors and quaintness of the cottage. It was perfect to me. I like to experiment with different colors. It is my fun place!
What makes this Cottage unique
Two sun porches, outside shower, walking distance to restaurants and shops on downtown Main Street.

Super quaint house!
The house was just as it is portrayed in the pictures and description. House was very clean. Christine responded to all inquiries very quickly. The house is very close to restaurants and shops and a park to watch the sunsets. It is 2 miles from park entrance and it is an easy bike ride. Neighborhood is very quiet.
Charming Cottage, Great Location
We found the location to be a perfect! Main St. was a short walk away, and we explored many of the little local shops on our numerous walks.
The cottage was clean and comfortable, but the ant situation was off-putting. We heeded the instructions to keep all foods in the fridge (cold peanut butter is a nuisance!), and we sprayed the provided ant spray the first day. Yet, we still had encounters with the ants. Thank goodness no bites, though!
The best morning was a cup of coffee on the great front porch. It was peaceful and cozy.
Cozy Cottage Allows Pony Experience
We enjoyed our stay on Chincoteague Island. The Cozy Cottage allowed us easy access to the events of the famous pony swim, the carnival and the downtown area. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. My only criticism is; that I wish we could have used the front porch.
A GREAT WEEK
THIS WAS OUR SECOND STAY AT THE COZY COTTAGE. LIKE LAST YEAR EVERYTHING WAS CLEAN AND TIDY. WE ENJOYED EATING OUTSIDE IN THE COOL EVENINGS IN THE PRIVATE BACKYARD. IT IS A PERFECT LOCATION TO WALK TO DOWNTOWN CHINCOTEAGUE, AND A SHORT DRIVE THE THE BEACH. THAT WEEK WE ALSO ENJOYED THE FIREMAN'S CARNIVAL AND FOR GOURMET TREATS OF COURSE POSEIDON'S PANTRY IS NUMBER ONE!!
Cute rustic house
Cute rustic house close to sites and activities.
Cozy and Great Location
We stayed here for 3 nights with my 4 year old son and had a wonderful time. The house is very charming with a cute sun porch and a nice yard with a picnic table and places to hang your laundry. There was an issue with the outdoor shower not working but Christine was very communicative and had someone over to fix it right away. Walking distance to the bay where the library, shops, and beautiful sunsets are. The beach and restaurants were a little crowded on the summer weekend so definitely plan ahead with dinner reservations. Definitely recommend this cozy cottage!
