Set in the beautiful Troutbeck Valley, Bowness Lodge is a Scandinavian style 2 bed/2 bath, self-catering log cabin with a private hot tub, located at the 5-star rated Limefitt Park.

With stunning views of the Lake District fells and some of the most famous walks right on the doorstep, this area is the place to be for lovers of the great outdoors. And what better way to soothe those aching muscles than unwinding in the sunken hot tub. Bowness Lodge offers you a place to relax and unwind from the pressures of everyday life. However you choose to spend your time, a warm welcome awaits couples and families; walkers, nature lovers and those who simply want to soak up the beauty of this stunning part of the world, recently awarded UNESCO World Heritage status.

Comfortably accommodating up to 4 people, Bowness Lodge is modern and spacious with a well equipped kitchen. The main living area has large patio doors offering magnificent panoramic views. Stepping straight into the hot tub from the lounge you may not even want to leave the lodge! A warm and cosy retreat, the Lodge offers you a little luxury to help you enjoy your well earned break - with a balcony area too, for sipping wine perhaps on those warm, starlit evenings.

The open plan living area has a large three-seater sofa and a wonderfully comfortable snuggle chair; TV, DVD and speakers for music lovers to hook up to. There is a modern fireplace and a well stocked cupboard of books, DVDs and games to keep all ages entertained.

The master bedroom has a double bed, ensuite shower room and a walk-in wardrobe. Bedroom 2 has two full sized single beds and a walk-in wardrobe. There is a bath with an over-shower in the separate bathroom. Towels, bed linen and even tea towels are all provided to make your stay an easy, comfortable and carefree break away from it all.

The beautiful Troutbeck Valley is one of the more peaceful areas of the Lakes offering some of the most spectacular mountain scenery. Only a short drive away you can find the vibrant towns of Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside with a superb range of shops, cafes and gastropubs. The Haybarn Inn can be found on-site and is only a three-minute stroll from the lodge; it serves great food, local craft beers and is pet friendly. Please check opening times as these vary throughout the year. Great pubs, open all year round, can be found less than a mile away.

Limefitt provides a great range of activities for all ages. There is a fabulous adventure playground, a picnic area and a shallow river pool as well as a fantastic pub, a shop for the basics and a launderette all on site for your convenience. The park also provides a useful WiFi connection, free of charge. A variety of wildlife has been spotted around the park including deer, red and grey squirrels, sheep and ducks as well as birds of many different species. And with all the great adventures the Lake District has to offer: cycling, forest trails, bird watching, fishing, café-visiting (!) as well as the many amazing walks waiting to be explored only moments from Bowness Lodge, what better place could there be to spend your free time. There is also pony trekking available on site.

Short breaks are welcome most of the year and run Mon-Fri and Fri-Mon. Full weeks are available Friday to Friday or Monday to Monday. Please contact us for prices and availability.. Both Limefitt Park and White Cross Bay, where our lodges are located, are open 12 months a year. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

About Joanne and Mark Jenkinson

We have been holidaying in the Lake District for many years, we can even remember camping at Limefitt when it was a tents only site! We have two children and know just what is needed to make a holiday home children can enjoy. We enjoy walking and eating out; this area of the Lakes allows us to do plenty of both!

Why Joanne and Mark Jenkinson chose Troutbeck

It is a beautiful spot to explore and our lodge is a perfect base for this. We hope families and couple alike will also enjoy the amazing wonders the Lake District offers and our lodge will help you make the lovely memories we have made visiting the Lakes over the years. What makes this cabin unique

The hot tub is one of the great benefits of our lodge. It is heaven to sit and unwind after a long walk, or even a short one! The lodge is ideally situated within walking distance of two great pubs - The Queens Head and the Mortal Man. As well as having a great pub - The Haybarn - only 3 minutes walk away. There are some fantastic walks straight out of the park on to the fells. And the lodge itself has all the mod cons needed to help your holiday go well including a dishwasher, microwave and a DVD player for those cosy nights in. There are games in the lodge, a great play park and a fantastic river pool also on site to make sure the children are entertained. Although, if they're anything like ours, they will be spending most of their time in the hot tub!

Spoilt by no heating on arrival - very uncomfortable first night.

  • 2 of 5

The property overall is fine, however on our arrival on a March evening there was no heating. It eventually transpired that the boiler had not been primed with water and hence no heating. with limited mobile signal, having to go back to the reception (which for some reason was not being attended even thought it was only approx. 19:20) I contacted the owners. whilst someone attended after approx. 15 minutes, the cabin was absolutely freezing and the first evening was very uncomfortable.

However, as you kindly acknowledge, within 15 minutes of you reporting the problem it was resolved. We would like to repeat our offer of a discounted rate for a future stay and, also assure you that as a direct result of your experience, we have reviewed and changed our maintenance services. We now have clear procedures in place to enable guests to contact the maintenance team directly. Thank you for your feedback. Joanne and Mark
