The re-furbished farmhouse has three double bedrooms, the master bedroom (the former living room) has high ceilings, French windows and a separate dressing room and en suite shower room. Two further bedrooms, both have air con,one with a double bed and the second with two single beds are located near the family bathroom. A large open plan kitchen (fully equipped) leads into a large open plan living/dining room with French doors onto the patio.

Both these rooms benefit from underfloor heating and a large wood burner in the living room. In addition Entertainment systems include a CD/MP3 music system, TV with limited satellite channels. In addition there is a study/office on the mezzanine to the main bedroom and a 'snug/library' in the centre of the house with a wood burner . WiFi is available.

Pool and gardens: Outside we have a salt water swimming pool that can be heated, typically we start swimming in April although the hearty can probably go earlier! There is also a large gas BBQ which we use all year round. The plot (over an acre/5000 square metres in size) is a mixture of lawns, flower beds and mature fruit trees (olives, figs, almonds and karob). The plot offers privacy and quiet whilst not being isolated.

Towns/cities: Loule – 5 minutes drive to the west of us. Nearest large supermarket. Large (ish) town that is an administrative centre. Mixture of old and new architecture, many local restaurants, daily fruit and vegetable market.

Faro – 20 minutes drive south of us. Capital of the Algarve, historic centre which is great to wonder around, large supermarket, mall and lots of local restaurants.Faro Island – south of the airport and accessed from the airport road has a great beach and plenty of food/drink venues and is more local than tourist. This is also a popular surfing and kite surfing venue. Almancil – 15 minutes south west of us. Almancil is the top of what is known as the Golden Triangle made up of Quinta do Lago to the south east and Val do Lobo to the south west. These have the top golf courses and are mainly made up of villa accommodation. Within the triangle there are many restaurants of all kinds of cuisine.

Towns/cities : Vilamoura – not so much a town but an area centred on the marina which is about 20 minutes to the south west of us. Again this is a main golf area. Between here and Val do Lobo (above) is the seaside town of Quarteira.

Other historic (Roman and Moor influences) towns nearby are Estoi and Sao Bras de Alportel. And a little further west are Silves then eventually Sagres (Cabo do St Vincent) also known as the end of the world as it is the most Westerly point in Europe.

The Ria Formosa Natural Park is a wetland of international importance, the Ria Formosa is a maze of canals, islands, marshes and barrier islands, stretching 60kms along the Algarve coast, between the beaches of Manta Rota and Garrão.This diversity of ecosystems attracts a varied fauna that includes numerous species of birds.

Our home is a lovely refurbished and extended farmhouse located in the valley of Goldra Da Cima approximately 20 minutes drive from Faro Airport on the delightful Algarve in Portugal.The immediate neighbourhood is rural but not isolated. The nearest village, Santa Barbara de Nexe, is 5 minutes drive away and has a petrol station, bakery, restaurants, etc. The nearest large supermarket is 10 minutes drive towards the large town of Loule, there is also a large fresh produce market. We are 20 minutes drive to the coast and the wonderful beaches and within easy reach of the world class golf courses and other activities that the Algarve has to offer. Central locations such as Faro, Loule, Almancil, Quinta do Lago, Val do Lobo and Vilamoura are all within 20 minutes drive. An abundance of restaurants, cafes and bars can be found throughout the area.The beautiful and historic Spanish city of Seville is only 120miles (2 hours drive) away and Lisbon is about 170 miles away.

Notes:
The open swimming pool and layout of the outside is not suitable for very young children unless they are supervised at all times. There is no air-conditioning, the bedrooms have electric fans for the summer months. Heating is provided as follows - underfloor heating in both the kitchen and living/dining room along with a large contemporary log burner that rotates in the living room. A log burner in the 'snug'. Electric oil filled radiators (portable) in all the bedrooms and electric towel rails in both bathrooms. There ia ample parking on the plot, the main driveway can accommodate at least 3 vehicles and the second drive 1. Both have electronic gates.

Spacious house

We had a fantastic holiday in Portugal. The house was exactly as described. It has a really spacious living room and kitchen. The house is very well equipped and very clean. Same is true for the pool and garden. Wifi was good throughput the house. The location is very quite and peaceful. Perfect for a relaxing holiday. The access on the day of arrival was well explained and easy. The location is good, restaurants and shops are within 10 minutes drive.

It is hard to find negative points. The two single beds were not too comfortable for adults. Unfortunately we could not use the speaker system since it would not connect to iPhone. The connectors seems to be outdated.

Overall definitely a place we can recommend.

Perfect from start to finish!

Our whole experience with this property was perfect. From booking to check out, it was a true pleasure. The property is a very easy and short drive from Faro airport. Once you drive through the gate it feels completely private.

The house itself it very well laid out and meticulously maintained. With great wifi in case you can’t completely shut off.

The outside area and heated pool are the stars of an already impressive show. We camped out there for a week and came away totally relaxed.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone and we are definitely coming back.

Wow, wow, wow

This was out first family visit to CB and, for us, it was perfect. After one of the easiest, and most on-time journeys we've ever had finding CB was very straight forwards. I was the lucky one who had a sneak peak inside before the rest of the family saw it but the opening chorus of 'of wow, that's beautiful' didn't really stop for the whole 2 weeks.

We felt very lucky to have found CB as it's a perfect villa for a family, very spacious and well laid out, extremely well equipped to the point where you don't want for anything, brilliant pool and so much space to allow everyone to find a quiet corner.

It's surrounded by beautiful countryside, is very peaceful and well connected so you can enjoy all of the Algarve quickly. There are a lot of fantastic restaurants within 10-20 minutes drive, but if you're going in August as we did, book in advance as they are busy.

It's a beautiful house, in a fabulous location that you can get to quicker than driving to Cornwall, assuming you don't live in Devon, and you get to see the sun as well!

We had a fabulous, relaxing holiday and really didn't want to come home. It is holiday perfection.

Superb Accommodation

Our second visit to this property. Very relaxing holiday in wonderful accommodation. Since our last visit, air conditioning has been added to two of the bedrooms and the ensuite bathroom has been updated. These upgrades have made a great property even better.

We look forward to our next visit to this villa.

Wonderful Vacation Rental

We stayed with friends in this wonderful renovated farmhouse for nine days. It is very roomy and has exceptional outside areas with lots of seating and pathways around the property. The salt water pool is fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed the well equipped large kitchen and cooked a number of meals there. We also enjoyed the location and found Santa Barbara de Nexe charming. It really offers all you need but Loule is a short drive away as well. We enjoyed the market there and the access to a larger grocery store. We did lots of exploring around the Algarve and " coming home " to CB was always great.

We had a few very memorable meals close by at La Piazza in Santa Barbara de Nexe and the MEM in Goldra. They were both exceptional meals and how nice to be able to drive five minutes away and have a great meal. MEM was a high end restaurant with excellent service and very reasonable prices for the quality of the food and service.

It was a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the Algarve. Julie was always prompt in her communication and the property was even more than expected. Thank-you for a womderful stay and great memories.

BRILLIANT STAY, BRILLIANT PLACE

Thank you for a fabulous stay at your beautiful farmhouse. The previous reviews are spot on and really do your home the justice that it deserves; your attention to detail is perfect and made CB feel like a home from home from the minute of our arrival. The saltwater pool was a particular highlight of our stay – we have not used one before, but it was so much better than the corrosive chlorine we are used to. And then there is your fabulous kitchen – loved it, loved it, loved it.

But we were particularly struck by the location of CB. It seems to be a short 20 minute hop, or less, from everywhere, including the airport. Beautifully secluded and ‘off the beaten track’, set in the hills, but still easily accessible. The Saturday market in Loulé was a real treat, the old mixing with the new perfectly to create a really special atmosphere, and just a few minutes drive away. And at the other end of the spectrum, chilling out in the beach bars and restaurants in Vale do Garrão, watching the sunset was amazing. We also ventured out to Faro Island (again, only 20 minutes away) – perhaps not a natural tourist destination, but what a find. Miles of unspoilt beaches, and with simplicity rarely found these days – I can't recommend it highly enough.

So a stunning farmhouse, in a beautiful and tranquil setting and a really convenient location, within easy reach of something for everyone. We’ll definitely be back to CB next year. Thank you all who made our stay so great.
