OVERVIEW:-

Bandylegs is situated in the hamlet of Mount, in Warleggan parish.

The common moor is a short stroll up the road and you can wander freely amongst the highland cattle, moorland ponies and deer. The moor is also a great place to spot owls! There are footpaths and bridleways in every direction.

Cardinham woods is a Forestry Commission managed site. There are a range of mountain bike trails with the Bodmin Beast (a six mile blue graded loop), dialled-in Dave and Hells Teeth being the best tracks. Shared use fire tracks enable people ad cyclists to walk and roam throughout the woodlands. There is an excellent cafe, play area and barbeque area here as well. You can hire a bike or bring your own.

Lanhydrock house, owned by the National Trust also has a new cycle trail. They have a skills track and the cycle hub (cafe with log burner and good soup).

Bodmin Moor is right on the doorstep and offers an abundance of good walks - with woodland trails and cycle routes for all ages at nearby Lanhydrock Estate and Cardinham Woods. Siblyback lake, a 20 minute drive, offers watersports, walks and a cafe for a well deserved cuppa. Equidistant from both coasts, Fowey is the nearest coastal location, with Looe and Polperro a short drive away. Padstow and Port Isaac are a 35 minute drive - famous tanks to Doc Martin!

The mining heritage sites of Minions and Caradon Mines are an easy 15 minute drive. The Hurlers, Sharp Tor and te Cheeswring are all great walks - so don't forget your walking boots.

St Neot is a 5 minute drive from Bandylegs and offers a local shop, a beautiful church, children's park and a fantastic old coaching inn - The London Inn. The pub serves great food and is open all day in the summer months. In the winter you can cosy up by the log fires with a slow pint of Doom Bar.

Jamaica Inn, the notoriously haunted Inn - is 15 mins away and has a smuggling museum and farm shop.

Bodmin is the nearest town, where you can find supermarkets, leisure facilities and various eateries. Bodmin Jail is worth a visit on a rainy day.

The Eden Project is a 20 minute drive.

Camel Creek Advneture Park is also 20 minutes away.

Siblyback watersports - 15 minutes.

All of the beaches are in a reasonable distance - 15 minutes to the nearest cove (with rockpools!)

BANDYLEGS' BONUS:-

We can offer free transport to the local pub on one night of your stay with our compliments! Just let us know which night!

Welcome pack on arrival.

About Christian Thomas

We have lived together in Cornwall since 2007. Emma is Cornish born and bred and was brought up in Truro. Christian is from the West Midlands originally.

We have a nine year old daughter and a one year old cat, called Stavros.

We bought Bandylegs in 2016 as a new venture. We have completely renovated the cottage - which dates from 1780 - and we hope it feels like a home from home.

Christian Thomas purchased this cottage in 2016

Why Christian Thomas chose Warleggan

We love the area as it is central to the Cornish attractions. We can head to the coast - and be there in 15 mins, or walk on the moors, cycle in the woods and breathe fresh air. We love the wildness of the moor and the people that are a part of this community. We are in between both coasts. We can head to the south coast and be by the sea within 15 minutes. We can head for the north coast and be there within 30 minutes.

Truro, the capital city of Cornwall is a 35 minutes drive and great for shopping.

The cottage is traditional, with slate floors, wood beams, fireplace and exposed stone. It has a cosy, welcoming feel and is away from the hustle and bustle of life.

What makes this cottage unique

The exposed stone adds character. The cottage is as lovely in the winter as it is in the summer. The cottage on a winters evening, log burner lit, lamps on....a good tot of rum and everything is right with the world!

You can sit in the garden and just hear the birds. There are views over fields and you are surrounded by the Cornish countryside.

Absolutely fabulous even better than the photographs.

  • 5 of 5

We arrived and were impressed the moment we walked through

the door. Once inside, the level that the owners had gone to make it welcoming was the Cornish cream tea that had been left for us. The property was tastefully furnished, in the kitchen was fridge, dishwasher, freezer, washing machine and microwave. The owners had thought of everything from soap powder in the washing machine to shower gel in the bathroom. What greatly impressed us was the salt and pepper on the dining table (something that is always forgotten when packing). It was raining on our first night but it didn't matter to much after we lit the wood burner fortunately the weather changed for the better and we spent the rest of the week exploring Cornwall. This beautiful cottage is very central and most of Cornwall is an easy drive away. This report may seem gushing but is a true reflection of our experience. PROPER JOB a Cornish way of saying well done.

Great village cottage

  • 5 of 5

A completely refurbished seventeenth century two bedroom cottage beautifully presented well equipped and spotlessly clean. Situated in a small Bodmin moor village approximately 5 miles from Bodmin town. Great rates and lovely hosts. Very quick response to our booking request and a very generous welcome pack. Own off road parking spot and all the mod cons including WiFi. Very peaceful and highly recommended.

The pictures are an accurate reflection of this great little cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage had everything we needed, was fresh and full of character. Hosts Chris & Emma were very helpful and we enjoyed a cream tea upon arrival. We stayed (2 couples) for 3 nights during our stay in the U.K. (from Australia) & it was very comfortable & ideally located as a base to explore Cornwall. Would definitely recommend!

Wünderschöne Cottage in Cornwall

  • 5 of 5

(Dear Emma, dear Chris, thank you so much, it was great to stay at Bandylegs)

Sehr zu empfehlen, wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.
