Four of Costa Rica's best national parks are easily accessible. Marino Ballena, which boasts of beautiful beaches and the famous Whale's Tale, is less than 30 minutes away. Manual Antonio, Costa Rica's most visited park, is an easy drive to the north on the coastal highway, making it an excellent day trip. Tours to Corcovado, the crown jewel of Costa Rica's national park system, can be arranged from Uvita or Sierpe. Chirripo, which can be reached in under 2 hours, is home to Costa Rica's highest mountain at 12,532'.

It was a wonderful stay. Very nice house on the top of the hill. We enjoyed the drive up to the house everyday. There were some Nice restaurants down the hill. My daughters absolutely loved it.

Amazing home, in great location.

We loved our four night stay at end of April. The house has almost everything you can think of that you will need on a vacation. It offers great privacy. The gated community has an awesome waterfall and cool swimming holes, that are completely secluded. In the morning the trees behind the house are visited by toucans. You can hear the howling monkeys and see a varaity of birds, butterflies and insects. Both Paula and Massi are great to communicate with. Highly recommended. Thank you.

What an amazing property! A beautiful house with incredible views in an unspoiled area of Costa Rica. The photos don‘t do it justice. The six of us had plenty of space, the kitchen is well-equipped, bathrooms are spacious and luxurious, and the pool offered welcome relief from the heat.

We had no issues with mosquitos and only the occasional small insect in the house. The only critters we regularly saw on the property, which we thoroughly enjoyed, were some toads and plenty of toucans and hummingbirds. The A/C in the bedrooms is efficient and much quieter than in most hotels. The villa was immaculately clean and some minor issues were dealt with promptly by the local management.

Contact with the owner was easy ,quick and very friendly.

I highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to reconnect with nature,be away from it all,and still have the luxury of a modern home with markets and restaurants only a short drive away. ( Four wheel drive is a must).

We‘ll be back :)

Villa Cascadas was true contemporary luxury! This house is an architectural BEAUTY.

The house has EVERYTHING you need in a house away from home. The kitchen is so fully equipped, there is even a waffle maker and a tasty waffle recipe in the cabinets. We loved cooking in Villa Cascadas.

The pool is a pure bliss and well taken care of by the very kind pool guy Martín. We loved night swimming is this color changing pool, sooooo relaxing!

We received before our stay so many useful documents from the property manager Massi. The directions to get to the house a so precise as all the instructions about the house, we were very really impressed.

Also great communication with Mrs Paula the owner, very kind person.

Not to forget, this place is very secure. It is also very private and calm.

A good portion of the road to get to the house was paved in December (unfortunately after our stay!). Avancari development is so nice, you’ll understand why the owners bought a lot there. There is a very nice waterfall at a walking distance (Youtube type : Avancari Waterfall Ojochal).

Very good restaurants around. Our favorite: Citrus - almost at the entrance of Ojochal. We went twice. You would not think there is a restaurant that nice there.

Fill the hummingbird feeder and you’ll be amazed to see so many birds. Put your camera next to it on a tripod and you’re in for a perfect shot.

The views are so nice from everywhere in the house and outside the house, barbecuing and eating on the terrace on top of house was so cool.

We enjoyed EVERY MINUTE of our 14 days stay in Villa Cascadas and we highly recommend renting this awesome PARADISE.

Incredible Place to Escape Reality

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time coming to Costa Rica and we could not have picked a more perfect home to stay in! It was only my husband and myself, so the property was way more than what we needed but felt just at home.

We flew into San José and chose to drive all the way to Ojochal, it was a very long drive. Estimated about 3.5 hours but ended up being a little over 4 due to traffic and road construction. If possible, I would recommend flying from San José to the small airport in Quepos to make the trip a little shorter. I cannot stress this part enough: you will NEED a 4-wheel drive vehicle to access the home. The roads are not in terrible condition but this home is up in the mountains and you must drive through 2 creeks. We arrived to the home after dark but the local property manager, Massi, had the home all lit up for us which made it feel very appealing to drive up to at night. Massi provided us with excellent driving instructions and incredibly thorough instructions on nearly everything inside the house. There was even a 6-pack of beer, water and fresh fruit waiting on us when we got there.

The kitchen was fully equipped with cooking utensils, pots/pans, and just about anything you need to cook dinner (minus the food). We enjoy cooking together so we did a lot of cooking while we were there and never ran into an instance where we needed something that wasn't there, rare for a vacation rental!

If you rent this home, please keep in mind this house was built around the "home" of the wildlife and therefore you will see a lot of bugs, spiders, scorpions, frogs, etc. in and around the house. Because of the openness of this home, we did find bugs inside the house however the home is clearly on a regular pest control schedule because they were always dead around doors and windows. We did have 2 little scorpions visit us around the pool during our stay but there was a convenient bottle of Raid under the sink specifically for scorpions; I sprayed around the home and never saw one again.

I work for a luxury vacation rental company in Florida and have a lot of experience with rental homes...I would recommend this property to anyone! It felt like a gem hidden away from the rest of the world.

Beautiful home, beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in this home. It is as beautiful and we'll maintained as shown in the pictures. We had 2 afternoon visits by several toucans, 1 by white face monkeys and could frequently hear the howlers. I would definitely recommend planning time to just hang out on this property. Had we discovered the hummingbird feeder before our last day, we would have filled it and placed on their hook. Plan your meals as you will probably not want to go up and down mountain several times a day. We made pancakes each morning. Kitchen was well stocked for us. Enjoyed our meal at Exotica. Many restaurants are closed on Monday. We took a river boat ride In sierpe with Kokopellis. Great trip. Saw all 3 types of monkeys, an owl, boa constrictor, Jesus Christ lizard and a croc. Then in the town of Palmar north, we saw a flock of scarlet macaws. All of this more than met our expectations.
