About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, Sleeps 6

Discover the very best of the Florida Keys in this charming dog-friendly (for an additional fee) rental with a dock and beach! The unique home offers the makings of a romantic getaway or intimate retreat with friends.

The rental is three miles from town and a few hundred feet from the Long Key Viaduct. Located in Henry Flagler's Long Key Fishing Camp, the site is well-known as the location where author Zane Grey authored many of his books. Part of a duplex, guests may rent this cottage, or the whole duplex for larger groups - call Vacasa for details!

The mini oasis features a living room, fully stocked kitchen, dining table, and expansive beach patio. Watch cable TV or the sun set. Extra features like WiFi and central AC will make guests feel right at home.

The rental accommodates six guests (five adults maximum) thanks to a full bathroom and two bedrooms. Sleeping options include a king-size bed, a queen, and one sofabed.

The beach, patio, and dock are absolutely dreamy with towering palm trees, tiki huts to provide shade, and a large dining table. The shallow water and channel is suitable for boats 30-feet and shorter. Please be sensitive of marine habitat as the beach is a nesting ground for sea turtles!

Set sail on your boat or sun yourself with a fruity drink on the beach. The Long Key Viaduct is a great place to catch tarpon and the San Pedro Archaeological Preserve is a popular site for scuba diving. The city of Layton is quaint, offering outdoor equipment rentals and fresh seafood eateries.

Henry Flagler's Long Key Fishing Camp is truly a one-of-a-kind location. Book your private oasis today!

About Vacasa, FL - Florida Keys Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Great getaway!

We went down for our anniversary with our two kids (3,7). The beach was very relaxing. The kids loved playing in the sand. There was a lot to do around the area for the kids too. I would definitely go there again!

Absolutely Beautiful....

 • 5 of 5

We were there Feb 4 - Feb 9. The weather was absolutely amazing. Upper 70s to low 80s every day. The property is wonderful. It has just about everything you need with some excellent extras. The supplied kayaks were very fun on the water. Just a quick walk down to the bridge to fish. The views are amazing. The dock and deck are rebuild after the hurricane destroyed the originals. The neighbors were very friendly. It was a truly wonderful experience. We found the beds to be very soft and comfortable.

If I had 1 complaint, it would be that the seaweed that washes onto the beach was not cleared off the entire time we were there. It was piled pretty thick from the day we arrived. I do understand that there is a lot going on with hurricane clean-up efforts, but some maintanence like this should also be kept up with 1-2 times a week.

Breath taking view

 • 5 of 5

The ocean will be your back yard!! our Family stayed over from Dec 29th to January 4th. The house has everything you need to have a comfortable vacation. My husband and I spent as much time as we could in the "back yard" we didn't wanna miss a second of the sunrise, sunset, birds, crabs, etc its just beautiful, so peaceful. The house is also equipped with beach chairs, kayaks, life jackets, boards for everyone to enjoy. The Tikki huts and bar are not longer there, but everything else looks just like the pictures!

Zane Grey Cottage

 • 4 of 5

The location on the beach is great. It is hard to find off the main road so you need to be aware especially if you come in at night. Pictures are pretty accurate but there are no grass/tiki-like umbrellas or covering over the deck - probably damaged by Hurricane Irma but not expressed on the website so shade is at a premium. There is a picture of a second bedroom with 2 twin beds which was not the case - there was a queen bed that my kids had to share. There is little close by but if you don’t mind driving 20+ minutes you can get to some restaurants. The house was clean and well stocked with basics like towels and dishes/silverware. Washer/dryer was nice to use. This is a duplex so you never know who will be sharing the house with you. It was nice having access to kayaks and a paddle board. Overall a nice spot but I don’t think I would go back.”
