Had a wonderful warm and cosy Christmas week in this well appointed cottage. Lovely decoration and modern facilities. Perfect.
The property was all that we expected from the pictures and reviews we had seen. The rooms are spacious and the property has everything you could need. We were lucky enough to have great weather during our stay so we, and the dog, all enjoyed the garden and the surrounding countryside. The local Old Crown pub is definitely worth a visit.
We stayed at the badger sett for my mum's 60 th birthday there was 6 adults 1 newborn baby and our pooch. The cottage is fantastic and spacious we never felt. On top of each other and the two bathrooms meant no one had to wait for showers etc. The cottage is very well equipped and very modern. The beds are soooooo comfortable. The cottage and grounds are so dog friendly and secure our dog could mooch and bark at near by cows til his heart was content. I would highly recommend the badger sett and we can't wait to return. Thank you for a wonderful weekend. 😆Natasha douglas.
We arrived in snow which changed to sunny and hot as the week progressed but as soon as we stepped into the cottage we knew that we would have a fabulous holiday whatever the weather.
It is beautifully decorated, warm , clean and extremely well equipped. The location is excellent and the garden fully enclosed so dog and children friendly.
The surrounding countryside is spectacular -so much to do and see. A truly beautiful part of England. Ditch the Satnav and just explore!
Unfortunately we had terrible weather but the cottage helped to ameliorate this. It was perfect for 5 adults, a baby and a dog, with lots of room so we didn't feel we were living on top of each other. It was very well kitted out and we really wanted for nothing during our stay. Would definitely use this cottage again.
When a property is gated, you know it's going to be good! Set in picturesque surroundings, we were spoilt by the luxury and comfort of this beautiful, well thought out holiday cottage. It felt more like home than anywhere we have ever stayed. With it's spacious lay out, it was perfect for our family which included an 11 month old and some furry friends as well. We chose the cottage for it's rural location as we wanted to explore some of the less commercialised parts of the Lake District. We were spoilt for choice and although needed a car to get to most places, the views were spectacular. We will certainly be visiting again! Dom, the owner was also very organised and always on hand to answer any questions. Very good value I must say and comfy beds too!
Situated in a secluded valley, The Badger Sett is one of just a handful of houses that make up the hamlet of Newlands. The lovely Lakeland village of Hesket Newmarket, with its famous co-operatively owned pub and micro brewery, The Old Crown, is just a one mile stroll down a peaceful country lane. The remote Caldbeck Fells are on the doorstep and provide fantastic opportunities for walking and mountain biking and The Caldew and Caldbeck Rivers which run through our valley are excellent for kayaking. The classic peaks of Blencathra and Helvellyn are both close by and provide some of the best walking and scrambling routes in the UK. If you prefer more hustle and bustle the popular town of Keswick is a 25 minute drive away whilst historic Hutton-in-the-Forest with its famous horse trials is just around the corner. For long distance walkers The Cumbria Way passes through our valley and for road cyclists The Reivers Route (known as the Return CTC) goes right past the bottom of our drive!
