The guests of Palazzo Ronchelli will live the fascinating emotion of staying in a corner of the past.
The building, still an object of restoration work, belonged to the wife of the painter Giovan Battista Ronchelli (1715/1788, frescoes visible at Palazzo Estense, Villa Recalcati, Villa della Porta Bozzolo); it preserves the atmosphere of welcoming refinement and compositional harmony typical of the Lombard 18th century residences.
The entire structure, with classic architectural lines of the time, shows off arcades, colonnades with round vaults, marble fireplaces, halls with terracotta floors, frescoes and coffered ceilings. In the access court a majestic wisteria dominates, born with the construction of the villa in 1597, it is considered among the oldest in Europe: in spring its branches, which intertwine on the façade up to cover an ancient sundial, they are covered in flowery clusters with infinite shades of purple.
Palazzo Ronchelli is located in the center of the Valcuvia, in the ancient village of Castel Cabiaglio that saw its origins in the Roman era and where in 1889 finds, coins and tombs containing urnette cinerarie were discovered.
The village faces sunny and cool in front of the mountain group of the Campo dei Fiori which gives its name to the homonymous Regional Park.
