This adorable village house is located on a quiet square overlooking the old fort in the medieval village of St Laurent la Vernède, 10 minutes from Uzès. The house was completely renovated in 2010, adding modern amenities with an old-fashioned style. This designer chic house accommodates up to 6 people, but for a couple, it is the perfect setting for a romantic getaway. The front terrace looks onto a pedestrian-only village square. The house is walking distance to the bakery, restaurant, pétanque court and weekly produce market. It has one bedroom upstairs, a loft above the living room and a daybed in the living room. Downstairs, there is one large bathroom with an Italian shower and separate toilet room. The entire house has been beautifully decorated in a Provencal style and is well heated during the winter.
You enter the house directly into the living room, which is comfortably furnished to make you feel right at home. It has an old stone fireplace, comfortable couch and reading chairs, an iPod player and a shabby-chic decor. There are many windows to let the natural light in. The kitchen is located downstairs and is well equipped with a fridge/freezer, gas stove, oven, dishwasher, coffee maker and washing machine. There is a clothes rack inside and clothesline outside to dry your clothes in the warm breeze. There is a dining table for up to 6 people in the kitchen for cooler days or evenings. Just outside the living room is the terrace, where you will find a barbecue, and a table and chairs for outdoor dining. The terrace is in a lovely, shady setting, surrounded by plants and flowers. Outside lights softly illuminate the terrace, for a decidely romantic atmosphere!
All included: sheets, bath towels and cleaning at the end of your stay. Arrival on saturday, flexible out of months of July-August on demand.

We were impressed with this comfortable little house, built in the fort of a very picturesque and quiet village. Lovely décor. The owners were very friendly and welcoming.
We just returned from 4 weeks in this idyllic little cottage, and cannot recommend it highly enough. We selected the region due to it's close proximity to the large and well-known markets in Uzes, but once here, realized that the market in nearby St. Quentin is much more manageable and civilized.
This cottage was exactly what we were looking for. Comfortably and beautifully decorated and a very surprisingly well equipped kitchen. The bed is very comfortable and we slept like babies. The 'Fort' is very interesting, and we enjoyed walking over to the nearby bakery for warm chocolate croissants in the morning.
We hiked each day for 1+ hours each day through vineyards, cherry, apricot and olive trees, and fields of wheat. The wine in the region is excellent and you don't have to pay more than 5 euros for a delicious red.
I wouldn't recommend this for anyone with mobility issues, or for very young children. But if you're young at heart, you will love this place.
What a pretty little house ! We arrived and were warmly welcomed, by Dominique, who showed us around the cottage and suggested various places to visit.
The house was very clean and well equipped and full of all kinds of wonderful curios that added to its charm. The beds were extremely comfortable with good linen and the sofas cosy and plump with cushions.
An electric kettle in the kitchen would be a good idea and some attention to the bottom tread of the bathroom staircase. The two terracotta steps are a little deceptive, especially at night !
I'm sure that a couple of comfortable steamer chairs and some planting, would make the little terrace , to the front of the house, more appealing. It could be a lovely place to sit, with a glass or two of wine, after a day exploring local markets and glorious countryside. However, the table and chairs provided, are adequate, but not relaxing.
We should like to thank everyone who has helped to make our stay in St. Laurent, so special. Wall to wall sunshine and magnificent scenery, did their part, but the cottage was a perfect little haven. It should be noted that the village bar/ cafe, although open at lunchtime, is only open on Friday and Saturday evenings. So for those wanting to eat out locally, a car journey, to another village, will be necessary.
