An authentic cottage for a timeless stay.

We love exception, beautiful stones and ancient settings, take time to relax in this beautiful 17th century house. The house comprises 4 fitted bedrooms for 9 people and an annex can be rented as a supplement for 5 people. Nestled in the heart of a hamlet, the house, spacious, has been carefully restored and offers all modern comforts, a garden and a large private pool. Very well equipped kitchen, dining room with sofa area, large living room upstairs. Equipment for babies. At the front, there is a small passageway to the neighbouring house, and the terrace that features a garden tent to have lunch in peace. Bellow, the big swimming pool (shared with the owners) and pool house, to refresh and enjoy the exceptional view of the Saône valley and the Alps. Starting point of many paths, visit of cellars and of many typical villages of the region. (Weekly stay in summer and a minimum of 2 nights the rest of the year)

About Cécile Magnin

We love the unspoiled beauty of the area, so we chose to settle in this typical yellow stone village. My professional expertise in the field of design has enabled us to achieve a respectful restoration of this 17th century character house.

Why Cécile Magnin chose Rhone

The pleasure to introduce you to our region, mostly known for its vineyards, and a large welcoming house, like a family home.

What makes this cottage unique

The undeniable charm of the house and its exceptional view. Located at the crossroads of three landscapes (vineyards and meadows, forests of Douglas on average mountain, Val de Saône plain) and very close to Lyon. Great heritage and architectural richness, many tourist activities and hiking trails at all levels at the foot of the cottage.

Absolutely charming and lovely place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this lovely place for two nights on our way from Riviera to Paris. House was very lovely and included everything we needed. Landscape is spectacular. I hope that we would have time to stay here longer.

I would definitely recommend this Place!

Our kids nicknamed the place "our golden castle"..

  • 5 of 5

This part of Beaujolais, "les terres dorees" (golden stones) is famous for the colour of stones used to build houses ... The gite Saint Clair is a very good example of that architecture and as I said in the title, our kids adored the place and so did we... the pics on the site are great but we felt they do not fully do justice to the place which is stunning.

It's an old building full of character and nicely restored and decorated which is located on a beautiful hill surrounded by vines and facing east so you get the sunrise light. You're only 10 mn drive from Villefranche/Saone.

The owners were very friendly and took a great care of us. They also provided great recommendations as to what to do and where to eat in the area; special mention to l'auberge de la place which was simply phenomenal.

We would definitely rent this place again if we were to visit this lovely part of France

Everything was perfect

  • 5 of 5

This vacation rental has it all for a relaxing vacation. The house is immaculate and comfortable with everything you would need. The outdoor eating area is spectacular with views of the Beaujolais countryside. The pool area is fantastic for relaxing. My family stayed here for a week with members from Canada to Germany and everyone left saying that this was the best vacation they've had in a long time. The gite is luxury set in the beautiful countryside. I can't imagine a better place to vacation at. We will definitely be returning.

The perfect stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was by far our favorite home rental experience. The home is amazing, each room has so much character and the setting is wonderful. The place is equipped with everything you need. We were four adults and three children (ages five and under) and we were very happy there. The terraced property with the pool and views of the Beaujolais region are spectacular. It was a relaxing stay that made me want to move to the French countryside! The hosts, Cecile and Phillip were there to assist if needed but you also had your privacy.

A most splendid house.....

We have recently had a most enjoyable family holiday at the House of Stone in St Clair. Everything was absolutely first class. The 17th century house is full of charming features and has immense character. It is both well equipped and beautifully furnished. The terrace is delightful, the views from which are superb and the swimming pool and surrounding areas are extremely well maintained.

Our hosts Cecile and Phillipe were most helpful and hospitable and we would thoroughly recommend the gite in this quiet and lovely area.

A Fantastic Gite

  • 5 of 5

This is without doubt the most stunning holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in, and it was just like having your own Chateau for the week.

Cecile and Phillipe are the perfect hosts, giving you the privacy needed for a relaxing holiday whilst being on hand to give great advice on local attractions and good recommendations for restaurants, all within walking distance or a 10 minute drive.

The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival, felt more like a hotel service and everything was checked to ensure we were happy. It is set in a very peaceful village, with a fantastic pool which is cleaned thoroughly every day and has its own changing rooms and facilities to save running to and from the gite!

All in all, thoroughly recommended for families and groups alike.
