Kirkcudbright (pronounced ‘ker-coo-bree) is a pretty harbour town with cobbled passages and pastel-coloured houses. Nestled amongst the Galloway hills at the edge of the Dee estuary as it flows into the Irish Sea, Kirkcudbright has friendly people and is known as ‘the artists town’, being an artists' colony since early 1900's. it has a number of art galleries, a castle, 3 x churches, a pool, a museum, a harbour and a marina and plenty of cafes, pubs, restaurants and a range of independent shops.
