The accommodation comprises :

Polden Cottage is in the village of Burtle, which is situated within working farms, horse riding stables, peat farms and fishing lakes. The roads are level so a perfect base for biking (there is a storage area for bikes if needed) or walking. The next village two miles away (Edington) has a licenced 'Spar' shop, Post office, Doctors, and local pub serving food.

Nature Reserves within 5 miles : Shapwick Heath, Ham Wall and Westhay Moor. The area is famous for the Starling autumn "murmurations" and fields of wintering swans

Cycling and Walking : On your doorstep, miles and miles of open countryside and level roads to walk or bike along

Fishing within 5 miles : Burtle Road Ponds, Emerald Pool Hibridge

Places to visit within 30 minutes drive : Clarks Retail Outlet at Street, Glastonbury Tor and Abbey, Roger Wilkins Cider Farm (as visited by a brave Jamie Oliver), Burnham on Sea, Weston super Mare, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, Wells Cathedral and city, Yeovil Air Museum, Haynes Motor Museum, Ebbor Gorge, Helicopter Museum

Excellent property

  • 5 of 5

The property had everything and more that was needed for a short break. A well equipped modern property with enough parking on the pub car park. The place was immaculate and we would have no hesitation in booking again.

It was next to a pub serving great food and it was nice to be able to finish the day by having a drink without needing to drive anywhere.

I would highly recommend this property.

Neighbors from hell

  • 1 of 5

The cottage was fitted out to a high standard very clean and truely a loverly place to stay. The pub next door served great food although limited for choice. A great place to explore what Somerset has to offer. But and there is always a but we had the neighbors from hell very noisy and yapping dog and not a thought for anybody else. We decided to leave early. Is that the owners fault no of course not. Would I stay again yes I would and maybe just maybe.we would have some nice neighbors.

Lovely cottage spotlessly clean

  • 5 of 5

There was a problem with the shower but the owner alerted us to it right away and offered to come and fix it immediately. Nothing was too much trouble for them. It's a really good base to explore from with a wonderful beach at Burnham-on-Sea, Clarke's retail outlet at Street and Glastonbury all within spitting distance. Bath is not too far if you want to venture further afield. The Duck next door does fabulous food and you must check out Rich's Cider Farm. We will definitely be back.

Really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was immaculate and in a perfect location to explore surrounding villages, towns and attractions. Right next door to an award winning gastro pub with great food and service. We will definitely be back!

Listen to the Cornish

  • 4 of 5

Spotlessly clean, comfortable and ideally situated for trips around the Levels. Although next door to the pub the only noise we noticed was bird song. We hope to return later in the year, I think that says it all.

Very well presented, all you could need for a comfortable stay.

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay, the cottage was very comfortable, the kitchen had all you could require apart from 2 egg cups which would have been nice, the bed was better than our own which is always a worry.

Being so close to a pub was not a problem, although we did not use it as when we asked if they had a table available for the Saturday night were told in an abrupt manner no chance, and to add insult to injury we were short changed by £10 we did not realise until the following morning, so we never went there again, the White Horse at Mark was excelant.
