Space 1,248 sq. ft.
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

3 bedroom 2 bathroom villa with private garden, balconies, terraces and pool

Beautiful 3 bedroom villa with panoramic views to the sea, on the edge of the typically Spanish village of 'Mijas Pueblo' on the Costa del Sol in Spain and just 25 minutes from Malaga airport. The villa has its own enclosed garden and terraces with dining furniture and a BBQ - perfect for al fresco dining on the year round warm Costa del sol evenings! Indoors, there is a fully equipped kitchen including microwave, dishwasher and washing machine and an open plan dining/sitting area with Freesat TV and DVD. There are three bedrooms with ceiling fans and 2 bathrooms which include Egyptian white cotton linen and towels respectively. The communal pool has two areas suitable for smaller children together with a garden and sun loungers, coconut parasols surrounded by lush tropical plants. The historic town of Mijas itself has many restaurants, tapas bars and you can even get a ride home in a donkey taxi. Just 10 minutes away there are several fantastic beaches from Fuengirola to Marbella.

The beautiful villa with pool in Mijas Pueblo, Costa del Sol, Spain is located within walking distance to the centre of the enchanting village of Mijas, which is situated in the lowlands of the Sierra de Mijas mountain range and is surrounded by pine forest. The village nestles in the mountainside at 428 meters above sea level and has a population of 7,500. The nearest main town is the Spanish sea-side resort Fuengirola (8km), Malaga airport is 25 mins by car. Mijas has managed to retain much of its 'white village' charm, with cobbled, narrow winding streets, dazzling whitewashed walls and breathtaking views. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy watersports, including sailing, scuba, windsurfing and canoeing along the many km's of golden sandy beaches from Fuengirola to Marbella, Puerto Banus, Estepona and towards Gibralter. Worthwhile trips to the flamenco town of Seville or indeed visit the amazing Alhambra Palace near Granada. From December to April the Sierra Nevada mountains near Granada offer great sking with amazing views over to North Africa

Andalucia and the Costa del Sol or affectionately known as Costa del Golf is a mecca for golfers with 60 courses in Andalucia and 30 alone in the Costa del Sol, including Valderrama host to the 97 Ryder Cup, and La Cala de Mijas which is the largest golf resort in Spain. For the golfing widow a trip to the huge La Canada Shopping centre in Marbella will more than soften the blow!

Other activities include the Aqua Park and Zoo in Fuengirola, Sea Life Centre or Big Game Fishing from Benalmadena and Dolphin spotting plus the legendary apes from Gibralter,

It was so bad that we left! Don't go! And don't expect the owner to listen!

  • 1 of 5

Where to start?

1. On arrival, no cleaning had taken place. The townhouse was filthy: even cutlery was unwashed & disgusting. We cleaned the whole house/washed cutlery/etc yet had paid for this service. Even the freezer was turned off as if we were unexpected.

2.The whole house was impossible to cool with inadequate equipment. Of the 3 ceiling fans, only 1 functioned correctly - the other two being totally ineffective. Mijas Town Council, from May, insist that rentals have air con in bedrooms as standard, yet it has not been fitted leading us to question if the owner is properly registered. We found no formal complaints book - also a legal requirement.

We spend 6 months a year abroad so are used to hot weather! Whilst I accept that it was not advertised with air con, we expected adequate cooling facilities in place especially after complaints on this website by previous renters. The heat inside was unbearable to my wife & I and we had no option but to leave after 2 days, moving to friends in the village & just visiting our younger family during the daytime: far from our ideal family holiday!

3. There was only 1 poor quality pillow per person. Only 1 tea towel. Only 1 bin bag. etc. Simply ill-equipped for a family rental.

4. The pool was infected/contaminated yet we weren't told not to use it. Our 3 year old suffered a throat infection, our 6 year old an ear infection probably from the pool. This despite all owners receiving a letter NOT to use the pool. Still today, the owner is advertising his townhouse with “communal pool with two areas suitable for small children” yet, due to underground damage, it will be weeks/months before the pool is useable again.

5. The owner advertises the villa with “Freesat TV”: it hasn't. We called out a local TV/satellite installer to check the system & he could only get two stations working: a News channel & “Challenge” showing re-runs of old game shows.

6. Most sunbeds were broken.

7. Casa Arbol is towards the bottom of a long, very steep hill: the village pool is 3 miles away: a young family can't walk it.

8. Our security deposit has not been returned: we left the house in far better condition that when we arrived.

Our family holiday was ruined through facilities being unavailable & the conditions in this rental being dreadful. All communication with the owners was very difficult & obstructive: they didn't care less.

There are plenty of other villas to book - don't book this one - we wish we hadn't!

Lovely Villa in quiet location

  • 5 of 5

The Villa was very comfortable and spacious and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. As the owner’s pictures depict, the views from the balcony, terrace are stunning. It is located just outside Mijas centre and takes about 25 minutes to walk to the numerous bars, restaurants and shops. We even made use of the pool – in October!

Would definitely recommend.

A beautiful well equipped villa.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the villa, it was everything we could have wished for a beautiful setting with suburb views and equipped to a very high standard.

We definitely plan to go back,

mislead, miserably hot, overrun w/geckos-insects

  • 2 of 5

This review is given a low rating as a result of the owner misleading us on wi-fi on site and several other factors that lead to a miserable experience. We didn't want to be there. Almost spent another 1200.00 on hotel but none really available. Then almost considered going home early.

I specifically asked in an email if there was wi-fi. The listing doesn't say there is. Here is the reply:

"Dear Amy,

Thank you for your enquiry on my holiday rental (855101).

My property is available from 26-Jul-2014 to 02-Aug-2014 and wifi is available on site. If you have questions or would like to reserve the property, please call or email me.

I look forward to speaking with you soon.

We arrived to find no wi-fi at the villa. Called Mark immediately as my sister was working and needed wi-fi. We were told, after already paying and arriving,on the phone, that the wifi was at the bar down the street. That only opened at 5:30 pm each day. I guess i was supposed to infer that from the reply listed above. They deliberately mislead us by saying wifi was "available on site". Not cool. Very upset.

I knew there was no air-conditioning. The listing states this but says there are ceiling fans. Yes, small and not useful. It does cool down at night. But you can not open any doors or windows as geckos, moths and mosquitos overrun the place. We know. We spent the first night chasing large geckos out and then being eaten by mosquitos. Oh, and ants everywhere! We bought two fans @ cost of 40 euros. Left them behind for next guests.

Two rolls of bathroom tissue provided - we had to buy

One trash bag for the week.

No beach towels. We had to buy some. (left behind for next guests)

No broom. Just a vacuum.

Porches not swept, corners filled with debris and webs and leaves/bugs

Drying rack filthy, had to clean before using w/clean clothes

Pictures not accurate. Walls, decorations different and view blocked by trees now.

No white Egyptian bath towels as advertised...blue, cotton.

Stains on sheets, brown ??? and pink lipstick on my pillow cases.

The pool was as advertised. Clean and quiet. Was great once we bought our own towels.

Overall not what was advertised, misleading on wifi (would have never rented if known it wasn't at villa - sister working) and generally unkept/unclean.

Asking owners for partial refund.

Owner's Response: I would like to respond to your review and address key areas including; wifi, misleading information, condition of property as follows:- Wifi- It does not and has never mentioned that we have wifi at the villa in the list of facilities as listed on this site. The villa is one of 16, sited on a private urbanisation with a communal pool and tapas bar restaurant with wifi, accessed by a small private drive. My answer to your question assumed you understood that but i wanted to inform you that you can access the internet at our tapas bar (it is not down the street) which is located on site. Ceiling Fans/Insects- We have never received any negative comments regarding either of these alleged issues from hundreds of guests that have stayed at our villa over the years during this period of the year. We ourselves have never had any issues with either of these having stayed and enjoyed our holidays there with our children many times and enjoyed nothing more than sleeping under the stars. Condition of villa- We have just spent several thousand euros having the entire inside and outside of the villa redecorated before you arrived and replaced some of the old white towels with new blue towels and have not yet updated the website. The view from the ground floor of the villa to the sea is interrupted by lemon trees with beautiful ripe fruit ideal in a G & T; we are surprised you see these as either misleading or negative rather than positives. Other Bits- At no time during your stay did you contact us to complain about the condition of the villa nor did you contact our housekeeper who lives in the neighbouring urbanisation despite you having both of our contact details. We provide each person with a large bath towel and small hand towel and one toilet tissue in each bathroom and could have provided you with a broom from our locked cupboard if you had asked and we had known. If the linen was not clean why did you not contact us or our housekeeper? I suspect the answer lies in your demand in an email to me asking for 50% refund 'otherwise' you would put up a bad review!

A very comfortable, spacious apartment in a quite spot just outside the pueblo. As the info states a car is necessary as the walk into the middle of the Pueblo where everything happens is uphill and takes approx half hour, but for a peaceful paradise it's perfect. Super pool area too. As for Mijas, we last went 14 years ago and fortunately it has not changed at all. Full of character, spotlessly clean and loads of nice restaurants.

Owner's Response: We are delighted you enjoyed your stay in our villa as well as the pool area. As you rightly state, its in an ideal location on the edge of the pueblo so its quiet but within easy walking distance to the centre of the town.
