Stunning cottage with hot tub in the Peak district yet only 14 minutes

Bedrooms 3
Space 129 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 - 5 nights

About the property

Originally part of the Duke of Norfolk estate’ the barn is situated in the small hamlet of Hollow Meadows, just 4 miles from Ladybower Reservoir in the lovely Peak District National Park and the famous Snake Pass, yet only 15mins from Sheffield City Centre. A great location for easy access to all areas including Ponds Forge Leisure Centre. But if you want to relax you can snuggle on the sofa and watch a film. Sit at the table and eat a great meal or relax in the hot tub in the open air.

Nearly 700 lime trees line the Rivelin valley, making it the second longest lime tree avenue in Britain. Hollow Meadows holds a scattering of smallholdings, farms and dwellings and is ideal for exploring many bridleways and footpaths. Nearby are the impressive dam at Ladybower, used by the 'Dambuster' squadron to practise for their raid on the Ruhr Dams in 1945, and Hathersage, believed to have inspired Charlotte Bronte to write Jane Eyre. Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, and Sheffield, with its attractions and exciting nightlife, are only a short drive away.

Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose are able to deliver grocery shopping direct to the properties.

Quiet and peaceful friendly rural atmosphere

  • 4 of 5

Very quiet and quaint . It had everything we needed and yet close by Sheffield .

Anita was very friendly , and met us when we arrived . Great place to walk and visit , enjoyed the hot tub , and leisurely evening strolls down the lane and the park across the way .

We would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet peaceful place set away .

Mixed feelings

  • 3 of 5

There are some positives about this property - the hot tub, wine and chocolates to welcome you. It felt a bit neglected with dead plants outside and it was not very clean (carpet needed vacuuming, dead flies/insects on window sills) we had to wash some of the pans and kitchen utensils before we could use them. The beds were not comfortable and the curtains do not fit the windows or are far too thin (there was a very bright outside light on permanently). It is such a shame as this place could be lovely - has character and is in a peaceful location. Needs to be improved to be described as stunning!

Couldn't fault the internal accommodation

  • 3 of 5

The cow smell was a little off putting and they were very close to the hot tub... however that aside, there was everything you could want in order to have an amazing time

Hidden Gem with all the Home Comforts

  • 5 of 5

Our family has just come back from a 4 night stay in the upper cottage, and we couldn't' fault the cottage and facilities.

The cottage has wonderful period features, stone walls in bedrooms, high beams, modern bathrooms/wetroom. The Sky TV also a bonus to keep the kids occupied after a long day out exploring.

The location is perfect, set a long way back from the road, on a farm, its secluded with great views the fields. Sheffield is a short distance away and the location is perfect for exploring the Peak district.

Highly recommended for couples, families (our kids are 5 & 3 yrs, ample room in the cottage to contain them.
