At one point, this picturesque little settlement was a haven for smugglers but nowadays, caters to a more sedate clientele of fishermen and seasonal tourists. With a supermarket, shops and restaurants close by, you need never go further afield, however with the Farne Islands, Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the market town of Bamburgh on your doorstep, there are plenty of great excuses for a day out in the spectacular scenery of Northumberland.
