About the property

2 bed duplex, with very private balcony and community pool outside the door

We are blessed with this property as we are detached have a large private balcony facing south east, enabling us to make the most of the sun even in the winter months. At night you can sit on the balcony and watch the twinkling lights along the playa whilst sipping your glass of vino.The community pool is also just outside our own private gate,and under the lounge window which is on the same level. The property is also only 5min away from your nearest supermarket, restaurants, bars, the promenade and of course the beach. Internally there is a twin-bedded room with a large wardrobe chest of drawers and bedside lamp. Main bedroom king sized bed, wardrobe,two bedside cabinets and reading lamps,with spectacular views over the playa. Lounge dining area has large corner settee, mini music centre with radio and CD player, there are a few CD for your use, TV with Freeview, catch your favourite English programmes. A DVD player. Maps and guide books. Kitchen, washing machine, fridge,hob, oven.

Eating and Drinking: Eating and Drinking; A wonderful experience is to be had trying Mojacar and surrounding area`s cuisine with so many varying restaurants,there is literally something for everyones taste.You`ll find Spanish[of course], Italian, Argentinian, Chinese, Thai/Japanese, French, Indian, English, Belgian. All reasonably priced. Dining out in the Pueblo [Village] of Mojacar creates a special atmosphere,with its quaintness and charm,it seems magical.Just call for an early evening drink and take in the view. Of course there are many restaurants and beach bars along the playa,one or two with entertainment [singers, karaoke], many within walking distance of our property.You will feel quite safe taking an early or late evening stroll along the promenade.

Sightseeing: If sightseeing is your thing,it is possible to visit Granada,spectacular scenery on route ,where the famous Alhambra Palace is a must,surrounded by caves which are inhabited to this day,although it is a long day taking 2 or 3hours to get there.The city of Almeria,which is on the coast is about an hour away, and has large shopping complexes on the outskirts.A must is to take the drive over the mountain to Carbonares,through the Cabo de Gata,another scenic experience,before dropping down to their beautiful sandy beach,with its beach side restaurants.Go on their market day,its bustling,and its only 20minutes away. The hanging town of Sorbas,where the houses are built on the side of the cliff over looking a ravine is also something to see and a place where you will buy the most beautiful handmade pottery. Bedar is the name of another very tiny mountain top village,famous for its panoramic views,and to dine in its restaurant is amazing.

Entertaiment: An hours drive away a good day out is to be had by visiting Mini Hollywood,which is set in the desert of Tabernas and where a lot of the Spaghetti Westerns were filmed ,not to mention numerous other movies.You can wander around the authentic wild west town,where behind the facades you will find the museum that houses the original camara`s used for filming.Witness a shoot out with Jesse James and his brothers.Not to be missed the Can Can in the Yellow Rose of Texas saloon.Also within the park is a very extensive Zoo where the animals have large compounds,and takes a good walk about,although there is a little train to jump on and off for the weary.Taking a cool dip in the on site pool afterwards is most welcome before heading home.To be recommended take plenty of water as you are in the hottest part of Spain, in fact take a picnic as catering facilities are poor.

A visit to the Water Park at nearby Vera, is a fun day out for the children.

About The Owner

My husband and i fell in love with Mojacar way back in the 1980's, so when we got the opportunity to buy a holiday home where else but the still unspoilt area of Mojacar. We are now in our 70's and luckily enjoy good health, so hopefully we will continue to enjoy our holidays here.

Why The Owner chose Mojacar area

Because of its amazing views and location. Being only 5 minutes away from the seafront and a good choice of restaurants.

What makes this house unique

There are no high rise Hotels or apartments in this unique corner of Spain, just a lovely olde worlde village, with cobbled streets, dating back to the 12th century. Miles of unspoilt beaches, with the sea like a warm bath in the summer months. All year round sunshine, being the hottest and driest part of Spain. Temperatures in January, warmer than a summers day in England, wonderful to escape the British winter.

  • All bath and hand towels are provided and kept in the wardrobe of bedroom 2. The window in the bathroom is best kept open whilst taking a shower as it gets rid of the steam..You will notice the Mosquito net,so its fine to leave that window open at night.

  • All Bedding will be provided,and changed at the end of every week.We do have a Mosquito net in both bedrooms,but in the main bedroom you will have to pull this down,as we have`nt had the need to use it whilst we have been there but it would be handy during the summer months when you want to sleep with the windows open.The landing window can also be left open at night. There are a couple of books on the bedside cabinet if you fancy a read.

Your beds will be made on your arrival and a change of bedding only done once a week as will the cleaning of the property,which will be down to Alison or Aly as she likes to be called, you will see Alison probably quite a bit as she helps a lot with the looking after of the community gardens also.Feel certain that if you were to have any queries at all she would be happy to help. Although we do not want people to smoke inside the property we are quite happy with them smoking out on the balcony and one or two ashtrays are to be found in the lounge.Beach Towels we are sorry to say will no longer be provided, due to the fact that all but 2 went missing last summer. It was a service we were happy to provide, as we thought it would save on the weight restriction in peoples cases, but alas it is no more.

We had an excellent two weeks here.

Right at the top of the development so very good views, but you can drive up and park outside the door.

Swimming pool just outside.

If you haven't visited Mojacar before (or even if you have) - stay here!

Loved everything about it

This was our first time to Mojacar. The accommodation proved to be everything described, and more! The views are amazing. The duplex is spacious, spotless and well equipped. We spent most of our time on the large, private terrace area which overlooks the sea and surrounding area. The temperature was in the mid 30's and the pool was a must for cooling down. The location was ideal. It's a 5 minute walk down to the beach, local supermarket, as well as bars and restaurants. There is such an abundance of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. The walk back up is not too daunting either.

We were advised to hire a car and I'm so glad we did. The driving is relatively stress free compared to other parts of Spain we have been to. As well as the airport run, the car was so handy for the main supermarkets and to explore the surrounding areas. We enjoyed a few long walks out, one of these was up to the old town of Mojacar on probably the hottest day of our holiday. At least we could quench our thirst on the way back.

We hope to return to Pamela's place in the near future and would definitely recommend it, you won't be disappointed.

Private home from home

Having visited Mojacar on several occasions this was our first stay in this property and we weren't disappointed.

As detailed in previous reviews the property features everything you need, has delightful sea views, is very private and the area isn't overpopulated and was pleasantly quiet.

While it is is about a 5 minute walk away from the beach this is up a slight incline, which wasn't a problem for us and we managed to walk nearly everywhere.

Will certainly be looking to stay here again.

Our perfect Spring Break

Recommended to us by a friend who lives locally, this house exceeded our expectations. The interior is roomy and thoughtfully laid out, and very well equipped. We loved the terrace, and drinking breakfast coffee in company with the rising sun and the fabulous sea views was every morning's delight.The terrace's orientation was perfect for us all day :- Lunch under the canopy; juice headphones and Scandi-noir in the afternoon; snacks and crosswords at beer o'clock; Dinner at dusk. A perfect day for us.

It's an easy walk down to the promenade/shops/ bus stop- about ten minutes to the local supermarket, and a bit further along I got the second best haircut of my life. The beach is an absolute delight and the commercial centre is a 5 minute bus ride away.

Summary:- peaceful location, immaculate house, liked it so much we've booked to go back next April.

Fantastic property with amazing views

We have stayed in Mojacar many times, but this was our first visit to balcones del mar. We loved the house and will definately stay here again. It had everything you needed for a stress free holiday. We spent a few afternoons on the balcony, which has the most amazing views. It has 2 lovely sun loungers with padded cushions, a large umbrella for when you needed some shade, and a barbecue if you want to stay in and cook. Beach towels are supplied, which is a great idea as they do use up a fair amount of weight in your case. The whole house is tastefully decorated and furnished,and has everything you need. We loved the pool, which is right outside the front door, and was never very busy.

There are a huge amount of bars and restaurants in the area, and we also went into Garrucha a couple of times which is only 10 minutes away and well worth a visit. Mojacar is definately our favourite holiday destination and will certainly be back next year. Thank you for a lovely stay Pamela and for the bottle of Vino Tinto. I will be in touch very soon.

Stunning vista from the balcony of this property

This was our second stay in this particular property on the Balcones Del Mar development. The house is like home from home and really cute, the balcony is private, large and spacious with fantastic coastal views. The house is well equipped and we had breakfast on the balcony more times than not. The pool is very pleasant and there is rarely anyone else around - it's like having your own private pool. It is only a 5 minute walk down to the sea front and restaurants. Mojacar is a lovely place with a great climate, we have been visitors here over the past 25 years. 'Known as Spains Best Kept Secret'. Mojacar is in the province of Almeria,south east Spain.Is relatively unspoilt with a distinct lack of high rise buildings.Mojacar Pueblo [the village] being a picturesque white washed,narrow cobbled street place,with a profusion of colour coming from the plant pots &tubs..It is a village with so much history,dating back to 12th centuary and ruled by the Moors for hundreds of years.Perched on a rocky hillside, over looking pretty countryside, stop and have a coffee taking in the panoramic view..A walking tour of the village can be booked.It has a wealth of restaurants,gift shops,etc.Mojacar playa stretches for mile after mile,with sandy beaches,one corner devoted to sunbeds, pedalos, canoes, and banana boat,and safe for swimming.Scuba diving can be booked.We have a long Promenade which is lovely to take a walk along during the evenings ,which also has several very good restuarents and bars along it,and is within walking distance of our apartment,handy

Golf: The area boasts four challenging courses.The par 72 Marina de la torre, Europe`s 1st desert course the par 72 Desert Springs. Valle de Este par 71, and the Cortijo Grande a nine hole course set below mountians.All in close proximity.There is also a beautiful new course Playa Macenas, just going out of Mojacar Playa towards Carboneras.
