Arabia Cottage, Port Isaac. Sleeps 5 with parking. Pet friendly!

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, garden with views over the village and out to sea

Arabia Cottage is a traditional Cornish cottage which has been extensively renovated and furnished to a very high standard. No expense has been spared and no corners cut in making this an ideal base for your holiday. The downstairs features an open plan kitchen, living and dining area and the upstairs has three bedrooms and a family bathroom. There is also a 'studio' which is accessed via the garden containing a large sofa, tv and playstation to keep teenagers happy. The typically Cornish terraced garden has a variety of well-stocked borders and provides wonderful views over the village and harbour and out to sea. The cottage benefits from a parking space in a small private car park approximately 100 yds up the hill. A well behaved dog is welcome by arrangement.

Arabia Cottage is located approximately 200 yds from the harbour and beach in the traditional fishing village of Port Isaac. Port Isaac consists of a fascinating jumble of old cottages and houses clustered around a beautiful sheltered harbour, sitting between steep hills to all sides. There are many small lanes and alleyways to explore in the old part of the village, which has kept its original charm and character and is unspoilt by commercialism. The village is regularly used as a location for film and television, and was the location for the television series 'Doc Martin'. It is also home to Port Isaac 'Fishermas Friends' who occasionally perform on the harbour during the summer.

You will be spoilt for choice for places to eat in Port Isaac, with its excellent pubs, restaurants - including Nathan Outlaws Fish Kitchen - and take aways. Self-caterers are also well provided for with bakeries, fish cellars by the quay, and a small co-op at the top of the hill.

About Mark Ambler

We have a family business designing and manufacturing kitchens and furniture in Derbyshire, where we have lived all our lives. We visit Arabia Cottage whenever work and family commitments allow.

Mark Ambler purchased this house in 2006

Why Mark Ambler chose Port Isaac

After having a family holiday in Cornwall every year with our four children, we decided to invest in a cottage of our own. We fell in love with Port Isaac many years ago and when Arabia Cottage came on the market we couldn't resist having a look at it. It was in a bad way and in need of a serious amount of TLC, but it had potential and the view from the garden sold it to us. A couple of years later, after a lot of work, it was ready to go and we started letting it out as a holiday rental and visiting ourselves as often as we could.

What makes this house unique

We love being at the cottage. It's so nice to be able to walk down to the beach in the evening, or sit in the garden with a glass of wine and watch the sea.

Lovely stay in a beautiful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We booked Arabia Cottage for the weekend to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with our (adult) children.

The cottage is situated close to the heart of the village and close to the local pubs and restaurants.

The garden views are amazing and we enjoyed having coffee sitting on the bench at the front watching the world go by.

We loved the cottage and it felt very comfortable and a real home from home. Thanks for having us and we can’t wait to stay again.

Car: recommended

The popular town of Padstow is about 1/2 hour by car, or it can be reached via the ferry at Rock. The surfing beach of Polzeath is a couple of miles along the coast in one direction with the beautiful beach at Trebarwith Strand in the other. Port Isaac itself is a beautiful village to walk around, with a jumble of narrow lanes and alleys. It is home to several galleries displaying work by local artists and has plenty of places to eat, ranging from excellent restaurants to an equally excellent fish & chip takeaway.

North Cornwall is home to some of the most beautiful coastline in England, with a wide range of sandy beaches and miles of walking along the coast paths. One of Cornwalls most famous attractions, the Eden Project, is approximately 45 mins drive.
