About the property

11 all en-suite rooms, sleeping up to 23 people, 1 mile from Ipswich town centre

Lattice Lodge is primarily run as a bed and breakfast, but subject to availability we are happy to let the whole house for your exclusive use. This is usually on a self catering basis, but depending on your requirements it could be B&B, half or even full board.

We can sleep up to 23 people in 21 beds in 11 all en-suite rooms, so no queuing for the bathroom!

As well as the bedrooms, the dining room and conservatory, when you have exclusive use you also get access to the kitchen (just normal domestic equipment, no scary catering gear), and my usually private living room, which seats 12 in comfort, more at a squish.

When the weather's nice, you can also take advantage of the garden which, whilst not huge, is plenty big enough for a barbecue for 23 - sufficient seating available, as well as a gas bbq and a gas paella burner. Garden games available too, and gazebo/umbrella.

Finally, free superfast wifi is provided throughout the building.

About Toothbrush Apartments

Hi, I'm Martin, and I own and run Lattice Lodge, primarily as a bed and breakfast.

However, I also let the whole building to large groups for their exclusive use. This is usually self catering, but additional catering and housekeeping services can be offered if required.

Depending on the time of year, you can hire it for as little as 2 nights, through to a month or more, for example should you have a large group of people working in the area.

When I bought the place in 2008, a cat called Missy had made her home here - and at the time of writing she's still here. If you would like to look after her, she's pretty friendly - although fairly aloof like most cats - and soon warms to new faces. If you wouldn't, she can have a little holiday elsewhere. We tend to find this works out about 50/50 with groups - so just let us know which you prefer.

If you hire us for a short break, I'll usually just stay elsewhere in Ipswich. If you hire us for a week or more, I'll generally stuff some things in a rucksack and disappear - sometimes with my Brompton folding bike.

Some of the places I've managed to visit whilst groups have been staying in Lattice Lodge are Vietnam, Cambodia, Nepal, Australia, Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland, Cuba and Spain. I'm looking forward to adding more to that list!

Fortunately, due to the wonders of modern technology, wherever I am in the world I'm usually still on the end of a phone or email, should you need to contact me.

Why Toothbrush Apartments chose Ipswich

Whilst Ipswich doesn't have the highest or best profile, it's actually a really great place to live - there's literally almost never nothing to do, with several theatres, cinemas, and a really strong live performance scene in the local pubs.

On which subject, we also have a really great real ale and craft beer scene (so I'm told...). Ask me for details...

We're the first to acknowledge that we don't have sea views or rolling countryside vistas ("What did you expect, migrating wildebeest?" to quote Basil Fawlty), but what we do have is 11 ensuite bedrooms, so no queueing for the bathroom in the morning!

Very well kept house. Every thing was just perfect

Enjoyed a family break throughly to celebrate Dad's 90th birthday

Had a very good time. The whole family (all 21 of us) fitted in nicely. There is enough space in the house for children and adults to enjoy and not step on each others toes. Martin looked after our elderly parents and made sure that they were comfortable.

Held a garden barbeque party for over 40 people and there was enough crockey and cutlery to go around.

Clean well presented exactly as described on the packet.

Martin (the owner) welcomed us when we arrived and showed us around, he covered all aspects of access, waste disposal, televisions in each room etc, all very friendly, explained how he was on call at any time day or night no problem was too small for him to deal with (we didn't need to). I was overjoyed because I found this place online so I was going to get the blame if there was anything wrong with it. Access in and out of the carpark requires care as it is straight out on to a roundabout but once you have entered and left one or two times its fine. I would happily recommend this venue for a family gathering over a weekend. Brendan

A lovely house in a good location, perfect for what we needed!

Weare a group of 5 families that wanted to get away for the bank holiday. Lattice house was ideal as had plenty of bedrooms, all clean with en suites shower rooms and a lovely big dining room for us to all eat together.

Not far from ipswich town centre and the lovely Chritstchurch Mansion. We loved having the Sainsburys local opposite to stock up on things we had forgotten.

A great weekend and would definatley reccommend!

Lattice Lodge is primarily run as a bed and breakfast, which means the following: -

1. The availability calendar won't necessarily be up to date, as this is a sideline for us. We will however respond very quickly to any enquiry.

2. We don't charge extra for school holidays, as we're very happy to be getting some time off!

3. The pricing function on here doesn't let us do what we need to, so we've entered our 'mid season' prices. To cut a long story short a 2 night weekend stay in November would be £900, and a 3 night weekend in August £1800. For 7 night stays those prices would be £2000 and £3600 respectively. The easiest thing to do is just contact us for a quote.

Our prices include bedding, but not towels, which can be provided at £5 per person per stay/week. It includes a final clean, with additional mid stay housekeeping available on request at an extra cost.

We're local, so if you're thinking there's nothing to do in and around Ipswich, get in touch with your interests, and we'll inundate you with stuff!
