Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday barn in Llansantffraid - Le-Gro Barns

Two five star cottages in a 17th Century renovated barn by the riverside

Relax and unwind in a sumptuous 17th century barn with all mod cons and eco friendly too. Set in spectacular countryside, ideal for families, couples or small groups. Le-Gro Barns has river frontage with 1.5 mile of fishing and is set in 3 acres grounds. Have a get together or a get away!!!!

Le-Gro Barns consist of two luxury five star cottages, The Granary and the Byre. Each cottage can also be rented separately. Please contact us for further enquiries.

The Byre is on the ground floor and easily accessable for people with immobility and laid out all on one floor.

The Granary accommodation is on the first floor and laid out all on one level and accessed via a splendid set of hand made oak stairs. We have many group bookings of up to twelve who rent both cottages, large families wishing to celebrate a special occassion or old friends from Uni, meetining up to catch up.

Le-Gro Barns is situated down a quiet private drive so the peace and tranquillity can truly be enjoyed. The panoramic views of the local beauty spots from the Granary are truly spectacular and can be visited during your stay.

The property has been renovated to a high standard while retaining many original features. There is a wood burner for those cosy evenings in. There is plenty of space for alfresco dining on the 12 seater patio set and BBQ provided. A perfect place to relax with a chilled drink and watch the sun set behind the hills. You can come and do as much or as little as you want at Le-Gro Barns.

Loca Activities: As mentioned before Le-Gro barn is a wonderful place to come and unwind, and chill out in spectacular surroundings. However there is plenty of activities locally for those adventurous guest. There is paint balling, quad trekking, golf, pony trekking, fishing, and ten pin bowling to name but a few.

There are also many wonderful places of interest to visit such as Powys Castle, Chirk Castel, Llangollen Canal, Lake Vyrnwy and Llanrhyder water falls that are close by. We are fortunate to have nature reserves near by that make fantastic country walks.

If you fancy a busy bustling day then a trip to Chester or Shrewsbury is well worth it. They have spectacular medieval buildings and many unique shops.

Ludlow Castle is a great day out and the restaurants and food fair are famous nationally.

There are activities for the younger ones with Park Hall farm, Crazy knights, Blist Hill and Wonderland.

Amenities: The village of Llansantffraid is about 1.2 miles away and has a small grocery shop at the top of the village that provides hand made freshly baked bread daily. There is a garage with a well stocked shop. There is also the Spar and post office which again you can buy your groceries from. There is also an Indian restaurant and takeaway as well as a fish and chip shop. In the next villages of Four Crosses and Llanymynech there are Chinese takeaways. Llansantffraid also has a “The Station” which is remnant from the Llanfyllin line that has been converted into a restaurant. There are many more restaurants that we can give you information on or visit our web site le-grobarns.com

Why Tracy and Phillip Barre chose Llansantffraid

This property is in a quiet secluded location so you truly feel that you have escaped. However if you want a busy time exploring and doing outdoor activities everything is pretty close to hand with the nearest town being 8 miles and the village 1.2 miles away. There is pony trekking and a golf course in the next village, paintballing quad trekking and many other activities a short drive along with historical buildings and plenty of country walks.

What makes this barn unique

Le-Gro barns is two properties in on that can be rented out individually for smaller families or groups from 2 to 6 or as a whole for a large family holiday or get together. With this property the Byre is suitable for the less able as everything is on the ground floor with no steps and has wheelchair access. The Granary is on the first floor up a set of oak stairs and provides breath taking views of the surrounding countryside and the river flowing past.

The Powys borders run along side the spectacular Dyke which King Offa ordered to be constructed in the 8th century, probably to divide his Kingdom of Mercia from rival kingdoms in what is now Wales. The Trail explores the tranquil Marches (as the border region is known) and passes through the Brecon Beacons National Park on the spectacular Hatterall Ridge. In addition it links no less than three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the Wye Valley, the Shropshire Hills and the Clwydian Hills.

Local towns:

1. Welshpool & Oswestry – about 15 – 20 minutes by car. Has a good range of supermarkets ( Tesco,Sainsburys, Morrisons, Somerfields, Iceland), all your high street favourites – Boots, WHSmith, plenty of cafes and coffee shops, and some specialist shops.

2. The nearby Medieval town of Shrewsbury and city Chester offering excellent shopping, cinemas and a race course.

Golf: Llanymynech golf club is visible from our property. Tee of in England and sink a putt in Wales.

Notes:
There is 1.5 miles of fishing at Le-gro Barns where you can enjoy fly or coarse fishing. The are two rivers the Tanat and the Vyrnwy. We have Salmon in the river along with Trout, Greyling, Tench and Barbel. We have the salmon run a short way up the river at the wyre in November time. This is a fantastic spectacle to watch. There is easy access to the river from the field and children can enjoy paddling or trying to catch a mino. The river is navigable and guest are welcome to bring their canoes' with them. We have an abundance or bird life and if you are very lucky you may get a glimpse of the otter.
