About Caspian Flynn
Caspian was brought up in Germany, Lulu was brought up in Cyprus and Jeffery (our chocolate labrador) is a Welsh boy and we all found a most beautiful home in the South of France. Caspian is a Chartered Engineer by background and has worked for corporations in Germany and England. Lulu is a biologist and a qualified teacher and as a second career she also worked for a large pharmaceutical company in England for many years. We have many friends here locally and also internationally and enjoy their company whenever we can.
Why Caspian Flynn chose Vélines
The fact that we already had many local friends around Bordeaux was an important factor for us to choose the vineyards of Bordeaux as our home. This combined with romantic vineyards, pretty villages, enjoyable towns, easy airport connections and the friendly locals made the task of choosing a home in this region simple for us.
What makes this Cottage unique
The completely renovated Maison de Maitre (Manor House) dating back to the 16th century and giving one a sense of history, the beautifully lit pool area at night and the well laid out park make La Gorce a memorable experience. Its architecture oozes the charm one would expect of such an historic property. Completely rural but only 3 minutes drive from all amenities.

Perfect peace and quiet!
We came to this cottage having had a week's walking in St Emilion, and were really ready for the peace and quiet of this place. We enjoyed the outdoor sitting area, which was beautifully shaded for most of the day.
The cottage is well appointed, but if you like cooking could do with a few more utensils. The restaurant recommendations given by Caspian were very good so eating out was easy and inviting.
The drive to Bordeaux took only an hour, and less than that to Bergerac, with all the vineyards inbetween to do lots of tastings.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Weekend in Wisteria
Wisteria cottage was perfect. It was clean, spacious, fully equipped and ideally located for us. It is the most wonderful set up with a glorious pool, outside table, big comfortable bed, washing machine, hair dryer, even and iron and a bottle of wine. We loved staying and will definitely look for an excuse to come back soon. Caspian and Lou Lou were so friendly and helpful. I couldn't rate the whole stay more highly.
Beautiful, tranquil, relaxing retreat
Wisteria cottage is quite simply gorgeous. Everything is done to an incredibly high standard. Lulu Caspian and of course Geoffrey are incredible hosts, nothing is too much trouble. They have a wealth of information about the area which made it easy to find the best restaurants, bakeries and of course vineyards. We had a fabulous two weeks and would recommend wisteria cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing laid back holiday in lovely accommodation in a truly beautiful place.
Caspian and Lulu, we're fantastic hosts , they gave great advice regarding the area, informed us of wonderful nights out to night markets , jazz night /days, and we intruded to some lovely friends of Caspian and Lulu. Fabulous places to see within the area, they we're so happy to help nothing seemed to much trouble.
The gite we stayed in was Gorgeous and they we're both so lovely putting up with our little noisy dog , Izzy.
The Manor house , gite and cottages are lovely, the grounds and swimming pool are beautiful could not ask for anything else wonderful holiday and we will differently stay again, i've already recommend it to friends.
I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU TO CASPIAN AND LULU. For such a Fantastic Holiday.
La Gorce exceeded all of our expectations. We enjoyed this visit so much.... we even extended our stay!
Wisteria cottage is charming, comfortable, spacious and clean. The heated pool, outdoor areas for relaxing and entertaining are especially inviting. We dined with friends one evening 'alfresco' in a picture perfect poolside setting.
St. Emilion, Bordeaux, wine tasting and charming villages are nearby. There are also excellent restaurants in the area.
Proprietors Cass and Lulu have found their niche as warm, gracious and attentive hosts.
Thank you for a wonderful visit! We look forward to returning.
La Gorce is Wonderful!
Caspian & Lulu get everything right on every level! They are excellent hosts and La Gorce does not disappoint. They could not have been more helpful, friendly and accommodating and made us feel more like we were staying with friends rather than renting a gite. They made many recommendations for local food and markets and each one lived up to expectations.
The whole property is immaculate - we stayed in Wisteria Cottage and found it large, comfortable and very well appointed. The air conditioning was a bonus as we experienced very hot conditions during our stay.
la Gorce is set in its own extensive gardens which are maintained to a very high standard including the fabulous pool area. It proved ideal for our dog to run around safely & freely (at times!) To say La Gorce is 'dog friendly' would be an understatement, Jeffrey (Caspian and Lulu's dog) even popped in every morning to make sure all was well. He is an added attraction at La Gorce and an important member of the team!
Caspian and Lulu could not have done more to make our stay so wonderful. We would highly recommend La Gorce and will certainly be returning.
